Seeing the Humanity of Our Favorite Celebrities

Humanity does not get lost when fame and wealth enter the picture. Sometimes we lose the relatable image with our favorite celebrities, even they seem to lose their own relatability to most, but then there are moments like these. . .

Humanity does not get lost when fame and wealth enter the picture. Sometimes we lose the relatable image with our favorite celebrities, even they seem to lose their own relatability to most, but then there are moments like these. . .

Josh Gad, the voice behind everyone's favorite snowman, opened up a book club online during the pandemic spreading joy to any who participate.

Josh Gad

Amidst the heaviest of the pandemic seeing headlines that are showing special projects and free performances and hangouts by our favorite celebrities was a joy to watch. Seeing many step up to entertain and give a moment of release from the heaviness that surrounded us daily, sometimes hourly, free of charge and with open hearts was one of the most gratifying moments I have seen in all my 20 years of living.

I think Gad sums it up for us perfectly when he states-

"That's our job. That is the least we can do. The real heroes right now are those keeping the world afloat. As we are all being told to stay home, doctors are fighting on the frontlines."

The acknowledgement of the heroes who are on the frontlines that we forget about on a daily basis is a good reminder to be thankful for them even when the world isn't in a panicked state. He also continues on to say. . .

"One of the great things I love about this is I am not getting paid to do it. The payment I am getting for this is the joy that it is bringing families, not only domestically but around the world. These are the things that are going to make the time go by quicker than it might otherwise do. And as long as we are keeping people in their homes, we are doing our job."

We are grateful to these amazing entertainers, comedians, actors and outstanding citizens for taking their influence with respect and treating it with the honor that it is.

He is not the only one who took on this challenge!

John Legend hosts an in-home concert for his fans in an effort to create joy and entertainment in a time of uncertainty and panic.

An amazing series hosted by many talented artists and creators captured the attention of John Legend who decided that he too wanted to get on the entertainment train with an Instagram live of an in-home concert with requests from the fans.

His melodic voice carried through into a series of Instagram lives and YouTube videos for frontlines workers, hospital workers, and fans.

But it does not stop there!

Benn Platt got in on the Quarantine With Me fun and hosted a virtual dance party!

This does not even begin to cover the amount of celebrities who decided to use their talents to entertain, encourage, and communicate with fans throughout lockdown and even used all of the platforms that they established past the restrictions being lifted just to make the connection more personal.

It was amazing to see the impact and the true heart behind those who we have put in high esteem and powerful positions. We always seem to forget the humanity when it cannot be logically computed through relatability and I do believe this period in history has proven that.

May we always remember this lesson and really appreciate these celebrities more for what they do and encourage them in their exploits as they continue to craft and create amazing works that we all get to enjoy.
