Get What You Get, But It's Okay to Pitch a Fit

To the angel humans

I am apart of the select few humans that believes that no one is born inherently good nor bad. I believe in the situation at hand. I firmly believe in change. I mean, is it really possible to be born with a “bad bone” in your body? All cliches aside, it’s a serious inquiry that people should probably put in perspective. I think these are all traits that we begin to acquire in the circumstances that we find ourselves immersed in. For instance, if you were born into a family that isn’t particularly well accustomed to the social justice system, well, hate to break it to you, but you might not be either. By all means, please try and attempt to break the normality that your family has enforced upon you. Honestly, we would all rather that occur than having you simply fitting into the given mold. This goes for other instances as well. If you are surrounding yourself with people who are the epitome of tree huggers, and you're just not vibing, I don’t know, find people that would still hang with you if you forgot to recycle the paper plate.

Then there’s the group of people that love so big. The people that wear their hearts on their sleeve. These people don’t fit in either the good nor bad categories. They surpass the ordinary human. Dare we call them angelic? So in reality, I believe in three groups of people. The good, the bad, and the real life angels. To the rare few that have these angelic qualities, this one is for you. I admire you. I admire your willingness to constantly and consistently put yourself second. That is a complicated idea that not everyone is lucky enough to grasp. I’ve seen your work done with my own two eyes. It has a magical like quality to it. You give with such poise, and ask for nothing in return. Absolutely nothing in return. How does one go about giving with wishing for nothing from the receiver? There’s something so special about people with hearts this big. Their capacity of loving is limitless. There seems to be room for everyone. Their hearts are homes for the thoughts and emotions of those they wish to sprinkle their magic upon. It’s a sacred place for those who are lost. It’s a sacred place for those who are in need.

And with this I must remind our little angel friends that it is okay to wish for something in return. It is okay to long for the love that you so willing give. It is okay to wish that someone sees you the way you so remarkably look at someone else. It is okay. I feel like, to be human, you can’t go about life fearlessly, giving without the slightest yearning to receive a gift in return. Even in the smallest form. A hug. A kiss. A high five might suffice. Acknowledgment. We are the luckiest creatures alive to feel love as deeply as we do, but we are also the most selfish creatures alive to hold on so tightly, and not be willing to give an ounce in return. It’s a complicated philosophy. Life that is. This is all apart of being human. When we were younger our parents used to tell us, “you get what you get, and you don’t pitch a fit.” If you are the giver of such bountiful gifts, and don’t receive what you simply deserve, by all means pitch a fit. The term “fit” does not mean to create a scene by kicking and screaming. No. By “fit” I mean, simply allow your emotions to surface. It’s what makes you human. Embrace them. Don’t bury them. I leave this here with you; get what you get, but it’s okay to pitch a fit. But remember you are the superior human.
