Freedom of speech, Soldiers of Odin, Hateful Words.

Why?

Canada.

You have all the stereotypical views when you hear about this country.

"They are so polite."

"They are an icy tundra once you pass the border."

"Everyone knows Bob, Bill, Scott, and Sue."

"They all live in igloos."

"Say it, Say it again....ABOOT. BWHAHAHAH"

"They end every sentence with EH."

But hatred, venomous hatred, that is not something you assume would never be spewed here.

And yet...

Groups such as Soldiers of Odin have been filling the streets in Edmonton. They have been rallying, shouting, and treating anyone who is different.

This may not seem like much, but for how much information is truly hidden by the government?

UCP - Jason Kenny has now posted that Alberta shall be following Ontario with the Chicago Freedom of Speech Policy.

Personal Opinion Time

The Chicago Policy for Free Speech will cause issues.

Here is why.

Humans are sheep. Many are dim, and let's face it, in Alberta, we are even more so.

Many people believe that freedom of speech means they can spread hurtful, spiteful, and honestly disgraceful remarks because they have the right.

I would rather be beaten with a stick than have someone spew hate towards me.

The pain you get over, scars make you stronger. But words, words seethed in hate cut down into your very soul.

These are the words you hear over and over as you lay in the quiet dark of night trying desperately to sleep.

These words echo around you as you work hard, putting all your effort into this horribly hard and painful life.

They echo past your lips and cut others around you so that maybe, just maybe if this kind person beside you hurts, maybe they will no longer hurt you. Or at least you will have someone sharing your pain.

Perhaps you can cut them down enough that you no longer feel jealous of them.

Perhaps, if you attack them, then your father will finally be proud of you and instead of attacking you, he will embrace you.

Perhaps if you are able to release this hatred into the world you will no longer wish to die.

You no longer have the urge to pull the trigger.

Being able to have freedom of speech is a truly wonderful and amazing thing.

There are many places in the world where you speak about religion, same-sex and even speaking up as a woman you will get punished and/or killed.

There is, however, no room in this world for hate.

Not in Canada, not in North America, nowhere.

Speak your truth.

But do not spew hate.

What has hate gotten us? Truly? Any of us?

Did it give us peace? No, just war and death.

Did it bring anyone joy? No, I can guarantee that it did not.

So what has hate truly given us?

Honestly...Nothing.

Nothing but death, fear, crime, depression.

Holding onto this need to destroy. Need to hurt.

In the end, it will only bring destruction.

You will only hurt yourself.

The world is dying.

We are the cause.

You can either be the change or be the hindrance.

Speak your mind. Please.

I am not saying hide.

But stop with the hate, the put-downs, death threats.

If something scares you, makes you feel uncomfortable why not learn the reasons why?

Realize that you could have been born in a different part of the world.

You could have been born with dark skin.

You could have been born gay.

This is the only life you have.

Think about it.

Let go of the hate that has been thrown at you.
