In 2017, an Indonesian man over 100 years old passed away, having broken the record for the highest age in the Guinness Book of World Records, surpassing the age of 122 years and 164 days in Calmont, France, to take the world's first place at 146 years old.

Because of his age, he had witnessed the death of his four wives, all his children and his friends.

As he grew older, he longed more and more for death: "My only wish is to die normally and to be with my family."

Before he died, only his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were by his side. The people he knew in his youth are long gone, so it's hard to imagine how lonely he really was.

The old man named Mba Gordo was born in Indonesia on December 31, 1870. Indonesia only started to register its birth population in 1900, so many people doubt Mba Gordo's real age, but Indonesian officials say there is no problem with his birth date.

Mba Gordo's parents were farmers. At that time, China was still under the reign of the Tongzhi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and the conditions in Indonesia were rather backward. In order to make a living, the Indonesian people at that time desperately tried to have children, and Mba Gordo had 10 siblings, and no one could have imagined that he would live to be 146 years old.

Although the family is not rich, but because farm work are undertaken by older siblings, economic conditions can not go to school to study, so Mba Gordo's childhood time is very carefree, up the tree to pull out the birds to pick fruit, down the river to touch the fish and shrimp.

Because of poor medical conditions, it often happens that young children get sick and die young, yet Mba Gordo was healthy.

His lifestyle was no healthier than anyone else's. From the age of 15, he smoked and was so dependent on smoking that he smoked several cigarettes a day, a habit he still hadn't broken until the time of his death.

He had married four wives in his life, each of whom died before him, and his last wife died when he was 118 years old.

He thought he had no more time to live and could finally say goodbye to the world, so he began to prepare his afterlife, bought a coffin and tombstone and waited for death to take him away, but he never waited for this day to come.

Although he lived to the age of 146, Mba Gordo's health was not very healthy in his later years, and he suffered from illnesses in his later years. He was often plagued by diseases, and his illnesses tormented him for a long time, and all he could do was to suffer in silence, and perhaps this was one of the reasons why he wanted to die.

In 2017, he finally got sick and was admitted to the hospital as he wished, and after 6 days in the hospital he insisted on going home, and his family had to accept it.

After returning home, he began to refuse to eat, eating only a few spoons of porridge and drinking a little water every day; he did not want to live anymore, even though he had this dream decades ago. In order to pass away, he begged his grandchildren to stay away from him and let him realize his dream if he was filial.

A few days later, he finally died as he wished, ending his life at the age of 146. After his death, the doctor who treated him lamented, "He could have lived longer if he had been active and cooperative with his treatment."

After Mba Gordo's death, an institution studied his genes in order to be able to explore the reason for his such a long life, but so far there are no results.

Immortality makes countless people crazy, and many rich people pay huge amounts of money for immortality, but if a person can really live as long as they want, will they really be happy? Would it be like Mba Godot to seek death alone?
