Cheers- 2022!

My fellow travellers, your visa to enter the next year has been approved!

Another year, another experience. It’s the last week of this year so a couple of you must have already jotted down few resolutions, some vacation plans, many plan B’s (keeping in mind the pandemic) and fully energised for another new beginning.

The only constant in our lives for the past two years has been our warm welcoming home. A place that seemed to be a perfect hideout before the pandemic became an absolute saviour. In the start of 2020, none of us thought our lives would turn from such a brilliant canvas of vibrant hues escaping the lines of our own limitations into a way of life full of dullness, depression, restrictions and panic. Just like that, the resolutions that we made in the start of 2020 still haven’t been checked off by some. Scare for the pandemic still prevails and travel hasn’t been easy for many. So, this time I have an idea. Why don’t we all focus on bringing all our past resolutions to life and try to fulfil them with a smile?

This year was an emotional roller coaster for me. I learnt to love from afar, I survived through months of sleepless nights, my mental health had hit rock bottom but I somehow managed to float even when my heart sunk in the deepest end. There were friends who unknowingly made the year bearable for me and there were those too who didn’t slow down to give me company or show any care. But I wish they learn to understand the importance of not neglecting the ups and downs of life.

Every year we begin the year with a bang! This time it’s starting with a weekend! Is it a sign!? Excitement, energy, enthusiasm lasts for the first week before work, study or life kicks back in and before you know it, it’s March already!

Let’s do it a little differently this time. The new year will cruise in. Time will change. Things will work out for you. But what about you? What’s your gift for 2022? What are you taking with you? It can be anything. A souvenir, a lover, a piece of art that reminds you of home or a memory of someone you lost this year or a yearly family reunion to keep the bond strong.

With another year, I take with me a strong and meaningful realisation. This has guided me through the blocked roads and difficult times. A very simple concept of life and happiness. A personal choice, an emotional decision. Escaping to the sky of clarity and conviction. Do what makes you a better person. The meaning behind your work must make sense to you. Dedicate your time, be determined to work hard and with discipline follow what you have always wanted to do. It could be anything that you feel connected with, a form of art, having a flower shop, a bakery, tasing wine, or gaming. I have realised that no matter how incredibly rich your inheritance might be, how much the society might expect from you, what you do is in your own control. This year you are your priority!

Make a promise to stop running away from what completes you as a person. With a steaming cup of hot chocolate snuggle in your cosiest corner with cushions and soft throw blankets with twinkle lights on the wall. Maybe light up a scented candle too. Take a deep breath and reflect on twelve main happenings of 2021. And out of those select something that you want o carry forward as a good luck charm into 2022. Maybe a loving conversation, an emotional experience or just a little token to remember the good times and focus on the change it brought in you for the best. Welcome this beginning with an absolute desire to treat yourself with love, hope, self- realisation and a mimosa or two!

Get out of your own way this year and sail through 2022 like the captain of the ship. It’s you who needs to do it right!

Cheers for a great one!
