Compassion is a beautiful innate quality. It is known to be the quality of higher consciousness. In Sanskrit, it is known to be the quality of the heart chakra. The heart chakra is the subtle energy point that houses compassion, love, creativity and many positive qualities.

I have always loved this quality of compassion. Compassion helps to see things without negative judgments, biases, opinions and thoughts. Compassion even dissolves ungrounded aggressions. Compassion helps to handle situations in a mature and diligent manner.

Although compassion sounds easy to be practiced, it is a skill that isn’t easily mastered by everyone. Applying compassion requires a lot of practice and spiritual wisdom.

There are many great helpful qualities of compassion. I am sharing three of those.

Compassion Beats Ungrounded Aggression

Have you ever come across an argumentative person who was never interested to listen to your points, but just wants to pass his own points and remarks to you in an impolite manner? Or… a person who likes to find flaws and externalize blames? Well… if you have come across such situations, you might have felt very angry and frustrated. I am able to comprehend your emotional pain.

Some people tend to release anger unconsciously, either through direct hurtful words or through passive-aggressive ways of relating.

Compassionate people understand that communication problems can be resolved, if empathetic listening is applied and words are expressed in a calm and compassionate manner. It usually takes highly self-reflective, self-aware and conscious people to raise the quality of their communication and actions.

To deal with troubling behaviors in a non-aggressive manner, we can apply compassion. To apply compassion, we have to first understand that the person who is speaking rudely to us, is in need of healing. The person might be having their own unresolved issues and unhealed pain.

Of course, we might have our own wounds. But the ability to deal with own battles without causing misery to others, is a high leveled skill of compassionate people.

So, next time when we meet difficult people, we can practice compassion and communicate with them calmly. Compassion helps us in responding diligently. Compassion also protects us from getting entangled in unconscious patterns of communication and actions. A compassionate person is also a person who works on becoming a conscious person.

“You cannot have an argument with a fully conscious person.” — Eckhart Tolle.

Compassion Helps Us To See Through A Person’s Spirits

Compassion makes you the helpful soul that lifts the spirits of others. So compassionate people don’t just see problems at the surface level. In other words, compassionate people don’t merely assess the words, actions and situations of a person but also the internal spirit and aura of the person.

‘Seeing beyond the physical dimension of a problem is a spiritual skill of compassionate people.’ The deeper we see beyond words, actions and situations, the deeper we could empathize and understand the other party’s internal battles.

We don’t have to attend psychic lessons; compassion gradually develops our psychic skills. Isn’t it cool?

Compassion Helps Us Grow Our Sense of Self-Compassion

Developing compassion for others is ‘looking outwardly.’ Developing compassion for self is ‘looking inwardly.’ So how to know when it is time for us to practice self-compassion?

Imagine speaking and explaining your points in a calm, conscious and compassionate manner to a person, and you see that your methods didn’t work at the moment. Then, it is time for you to practice self-compassion.

During face-to-face human interactions, it is always good to be aware and alert to how people communicate with us. For example, if you observe that a person persistently applies passive listening methods and responds to you with fixed ideas and rigid thinking patterns, then it is a clear indication that you need to ‘click your self-compassion button’ soon.

Listen to your sensible observations and intuitions telling you to safeguard your energy. When a communication, action and situation enervate your spirit, you need to let go of that exhausting moment that doesn’t serve you positive outcomes.

However, never be disheartened about your efforts of compassion. You have tried your best to help an unhealed soul but the soul chooses not to be awakened at this moment. You have done your part by ‘planting healing seeds of consciousness in their garden.’ “The seeds will grow when it is their time to grow.” So move on… with your warm heart of compassion!

“Every person holds the seed of enlightenment in them.” — Eckhart Tolle

One lesson I learned in my spiritual journey is, to be intuitively aware of when to apply compassion and when to stop. That’s why compassion is known to be a quality of higher consciousness.

Some Useful Points To Know About Compassion

Practice compassion by developing deep empathy.

Compassion works great if we always look beyond the words, actions and situations of a person. We should dive deep to feel the spirit and aura of a person.

Everyone faces their own life battles, but the ability to manage their own battles without causing misery to others, is a high leveled skill of compassionate people.

Lacking compassion leads one to hurt others. Hurting and destroying spirits is a destructive energy. Compassion helps you to lift spirits. Therefore, compassion is a creative energy.

Develop self-compassion to stay mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually healthy.
