Burning Betrayal

Betrayal is an experience that no one forgets. No matter how hard we try, we cant seem to shake it.

When you meet your significant other, you introduce them to your friends. You never think in a million years that your friends would betray you. But, unfortunately it does happen. I used to be shocked about things like that.

During a dinner at your family’s house or friend’s house, you introduce your significant other. Everybody is happy for you and you are so happy for yourself. But what you aren’t doing is paying attention. What do I mean? Eyes have connected in this room somewhere. There is an attraction in the room that you may not see. Call me crazy but it’s the truth.

If 2 people are left in a room by themselves long enough, friend or no friend, something is going to take place, whether it’s a kiss or complete sex. And then, both people have to explain what happened. No one knows who to believe. Truth be told, it was a moment that 2 people shared, they enjoyed that moment, and they will come up with any odd explanation they can to justify their actions. Sad part is, even after going through that, those same 2 people begin seeing each other behind the scenes until they are caught again. It goes from an explanation to a habit.

As we all know, a habit is hard to break. Ask any cigarette smoker, or other type of smoker. Or someone who drinks. But after so long, its not a habit. It’s an addiction and that’s even worse. 2 people that were once strangers have now become addicted to each other and it started from simple attraction.

We hear stories about betrayal, and we never think it could happen to us. We hear about peoples’ lives being completely destroyed; their lives are practically torn apart. But none of us are immune. We always say what we would do if we were in that situation. But you don’t know what you would do until you are in that situation. We have all been betrayed in some way or another. Whether it was love or friendship.

Everybody is not on your side. People can pretend very well. Some women can tell their female friends all the details about their man and not worry about anything happening. Some men can tell their male friends all the details about their woman and not worry about anything happening. But you always have the “plotters” as I call them. Trying to find a way to talk to that man or woman. But, the question is, will that man or woman be real enough to tell you if your friend comes on to them? Some do, some don’t.

Trust is something that is easy to gain and can be lost in an instant. There is a thing as a second chance but it’s difficult because you can’t forget what happened. There is always going to be that “what if.” Every time they get off the phone, when you don’t hear from them for a while, “what if” will be in your mind. It’ll drive you crazy.

Relationships are hard. Its because some people don’t believe in commitment anymore. People just do whatever. Boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, friends with benefits. So many people titles. They are just that, titles. They all have meaning to them. Some of those titles have strong meaning to them while others just use the title to prevent the person from being labeled with the wrong title. Wrong titles meaning ho, dog or b****.

So, to conclude my story, I say this: Betrayal is serious just like a chess game. The not-so-smart person has lost. Checkmate.
