Another Day

Another Opportunity

Today is Thursday. Another day of the week. Or, as some might put it, another day closer to the weekend. It can be easy to get caught up in this round and round cycle of weeks and days. Especially during these times when things aren't exactly normal. It can be easy to get lulled to sleep in our routines and our daily lives. So much so that eventually we wake up and lost three years of our lives.

Now, we can't stop the time and we certainly can't turn back the clock. Yet, what we can do is look at every day as an opportunity. We can look at every day as a chance to get better and improve. We can look at every single day knowing that we have a chance to take one step closer to where we want to be in the future. But, if we let ourselves get into too much of a routine, and we let ourselves get comfortable, we'll almost certainly feel like we are falling into the trap of the weekly cycle.

What do I mean by the weekly cycle?

I mean how people normally view the week. Monday is a down day because you're coming off of the weekend, Wednesday is hump day and you've just got to grind through it, Friday we're supposed to be excited because it's almost the weekend, and then Saturday is the full-blown chill time because it is the weekend. And around and around it goes. This is how we're raised and this is what we know. But I think it's weird. Why not enjoy and attack Monday's? Why does Saturday have to be "chill time"? If we love what we do and our work and daily lives fill us with purpose then shouldn't every day feel like a weekend for us? And not in the sense of chilling out and hanging with friends (Although we certainly can do those things) I mean in the sense of feeling fulfilled and satisfied knowing that we love what we do and that we love the life that we're living.

Too often, people get caught up in the rat race of wanting to make more money and advance in their careers at the expense of their most valuable resource, time. Time you can't get back. Money, to an extent, you can get back. By getting caught up in this vicious cycle we often start to take time for granted. We write off Monday's because they're a drag, we write off Tuesday's because the weekend is nowhere to be found, etc. We wait until Friday to be happy. Why is that? As I write this I'm just as curious as you are as to why we, generally, think and act like this. It just makes no sense.

So that is why my message today is simple. Today is not just another day. Today is another day filled with opportunities. Today is THE day. I don't care if it's Monday, Saturday, or Thursday. This is the day to make it happen. Work on flipping your mindset and not categorizing days based on what society is telling you. Don't fall into the trap of weekdays and weekends. Learn to approach every single day the same. It's okay to take time off, hang out with friends, watch the game, etc. Of course, it is. I'm not denying that nor am I saying those are bad things. What I am saying is don't be afraid to think differently. Don't be afraid to view the world and the societal structure that we have been taught differently. Every day is an opportunity to improve and take one step closer to our goals.

Think of it and approach every day as such.

Get After It.

Up Before You.
