Let's call him "Terrell" or "T" for short. There's a special place in my heart for him from the jump; and I'm not just referring to the leaping touchdown (TD) catches that he made well into our friendship.

I was immediately stricken by his real first name (don't hold your breath waiting for it) and the manner in which our initial acquaintanceship of pure happenstance came about. Sho nuff, his job in the service was the same as mine.

Granted, his branch of the U.S. military is way more "high speed" than mine was. While we had the tech, numbers, and logistics; it's undebatable and a self-evident fact that the USMC (United States Marine Corps) has the Army by a landslide in terms of grit, determination, and tenacity.

One of my fav military jokes, "The Marines don't have any race problems. They treat everybody like they're black." - General Daniel "Chappie" James, Jr. USAF (United States Air Force), circa era 1970.

Last one for now, "How does God sign his letters?... USMC, Ret." Btw, it's also known as The Corps.

Pronounced like "The Core"; unless, of course, you're former President Obama. Seriously tho, I don't believe that there's hardly any individuals out in this world today who have stronger core muscles than some of the Marine Raiders Regiment, Marine Recon, or the Navy SEALs who hail from The Corps.

There's clearly very valid reasons why Marines are known all around the world as Devil Dogs. They earned that title as well as their motto, "Semper Fidelis", or "Semper Fi" for short.

For those to engrossed to "Do your Googles", that's Latin for "Always Faithful". I digress.

Terrell is hands down my all time fav Marine mainly thx to the shenanigans that him and I have been up to over the past several weeks. We legit sat in a park playing chess randomly for at least a couple hours one day.

In addition to that beautiful day, we enjoyed many others in such a short period of time. For example: The out the blue football game that inspired me to write this "story"; which I will now delve into my memory banks (sic) for.

Not only did T recruit my extremely reluctant and (slightly) injured self again for this particular scrimmage. There were a few others, who had played around with us at least once before, rejoining in on the fun.

In addition, we had a few new faces either commit to or actually participate in the game. I'll be damned if I didn't make another game winning catch this time around too, while bammas was out there slipping and sliding.

Not for nothing: My Black behind out here acting like I done went and forgot about not just my shoulder injury from this past January; along with my bad knee from the previous game (as well as the other devastating injuries from my time in the military). "Somebody get that man a (sic) ARCOM (Army Commendation medal)!"- Random Battle (Buddy) jokingly said that often.

Full disclosure: We gave up a TD on the very first kick off of yesterday's game. That was on me.

Thx to patient persistence tho, T managed to make a pick six (or an interception returned for TD) early in the game as well. At least a few other key plays were made by the Big Homie in the short hour or so that we spent out there this time around too.

One more admission of guilt: There were at least a couple timeouts called thx to Terrell picking up the slack for my sandbagging self. "Praise the [football] gods" that it all worked out and I didn't have to hear him jokingly yell, "Friendship: Terminated!"

I don't care what anyone says, whether watching on the "boob tube", the stands, or just being in the game; it ain't Fall without some god blessed football with the Famo. "Don't at me!"

Prayerfully, someone somewhere gets something pertinent (re: useful) from this post. If that somebody's you, then please think about considering a Like/Tip/Share/Sub, and/or checking out some of my other posts.

Also, if you're in the market for an article of clothing or two, there's a link in my bio. Please don't think for a minute that I will be unappreciative of any all who "look out for the cookout".

TIA (Thx In Advance). Peaceful Tidings.
