Being a leader means more than having a chief-subaltern relationship with your coworkers. Leaders need to be capable to coordinate people and make them listen to them.

In this article, I will provide you with a list of 8 tips you need to know to become a better leader.

Respect to be respected:

If you want to be respected, you need to learn to respect yourself. It is very important to gain power by doing what you need to do, not by trampling the others around you. This way you will enjoy the respect of others. Showing respect does not mean that you are weaker, but that you are focused on the needs of your team. Do not let your inferiors take your kindness as a weakness.

Know how to communicate:

A good leader finds the means necessary to communicate. It is very important to discuss the problems with others and to be prepared to deal with situations involving emotional issues.

Learn to take risks when needed:

Do not be afraid to take decisions. It is better to offer an incomplete answer now instead of an elaborate answer tomorrow, in many cases. To make a name for yourself, you must first be determined and not afraid to make decisions.

Be open for new things:

Do not forget to be open-minded and willing to try new things about your work. You will be more likely to become a good leader than if you are a rigid person in principles and actions.

Think positive:

Do not forget that positive thinking and motivation are indispensable. A true leader views success struggles to get it and ultimately makes it come true.

Always improve yourself:

Be aware that you must constantly learn, especially in your area of activity, and constantly specialize. Each of us wishes to overcome his limits and reach the point where he can demonstrate why he is capable.

Work more than others:

Work more than others because without working hard, you will never be a leader.

Remember that leader does not necessarily mean boss:

You should always keep in mind that a leader does not necessarily mean boss. The leader is the person where others come and escalate problems and the one that finds solutions for bigger problems.

How you form as a leader:

Can you learn leadership skills? Yes. There is a technique through which they can be cultivated. It's like trying to learn to play table tennis.

How can your leadership skills be trained? In improving specific abilities. Message clarity is needed to capture people's attention. In addition, you must learn to respect those around you, to take responsibility for your actions and those around you. Imagine that a leader must be a positive catalyst to lead a group. People have to trust you, realize that your vision is the right one and that you turn them on the right path. And they follow you.

In addition, you have to be serious and have ethical values. These things are true for positive leaders. Some negative leaders do not respect these qualities, but the training process is the same. People trust them, they are strong people, communicate very clearly, etc.

The qualities of a leader:

First, a leader must have a vision. The point is that you can be a leader in times when you do not necessarily realize this. You can be a leader in front of your friends when you say to go to a terrace, but here we are talking about acts that change the cohesion of a group or a destiny. And then it is important to want to lead people and take responsibility. You have to think and visualize that you will lead those people in a period so that you will assume success and failure.

You have to have the courage. No matter how small the group is, you will be challenged. You can not drive a group 100%. In addition, a leader is empathic with his people, knows how to delegate certain tasks, and knows how to plan his resources. However, it is important to take responsibility and want to do this.

How can we identify leaders?

Hitler, for example, was a very good leader, but his direction was negative. But even if ethics did not point him to the positive path, as a leadership exercise, we know he mobilized millions of people - only that the target was a vision he only had. In contrast, we can remember Nelson Mandela, who was followed by people for decades after decades.

Is there a risk for an employer to have a leader in the team?

It is very important to have a leader in the team because he can also be a very good "follower". And then he will know and follow, and this is a very happy case. Why? Imagine the organizational climate as a boat, where each member of the team receives a rowing boat.

There may be a boat in which the team sails in a synchronized way and goes in the same direction, but also a boat in which each member strikes the water in different directions. In a situation like this, a leader will understand the flow of responsibility and authority and will make the right decisions. Therefore, he can be a very good leader for the team and a very good "follower" for those who are above his hierarchy.

Few of us are leaders, but if we take into account these few steps, we can hope that someday we will be able to lead a team to follow for the better and the worse, with which we can achieve success.
