At first glance, the words "power" and "authority" sound as if these concepts go hand in hand. The thing is, we live in a world where everyone has been confronted since childhood, with the idea that the more powerful a person is, the more authoritative and influential they are.

Many of us still believe that power is something that can be accumulated and received. For example, every time I hear someone say, "I'm a strong person, I've been through a lot."

An authoritarian person needs an enemy or an adversary to strengthen his power, while a strong person does not need all this. The ability to see the difference between power and authority is a direct result of gaining inner strength.

"Suppressing others is a weakness in disguise. The real power is inside and is available to you right now. "- Eckhart Tolle

So, 5 signs of a person who has true inner strength:

1. Authority is compared to others, power is compared to your previous self

"Successful people never worry about what others are doing," said an unknown author.

The authority needs a certain level of resilience to continue to become "stronger". And that is why it is not strong in itself, the authority needs constant comparison with others.

A truly strong person does not need anyone or anything to feel the power in himself. Therefore, true power does not require that others be weak to manifest.

2. Authority uses fear, power uses love

If someone uses fear-based tactics to manipulate or control other people, this is a sure sign of a person who has no power over them.

A strong person should not scare others into gaining respect. His actions are full of love and empathy. Because there is no power stronger than love.

The idea is not that a strong person will stand aside if, for example, he witnesses someone threatening another person. A strong person uses his strength when needed and does not live in fear of hypothetical situations or scenarios.

3. Authority needs "followers", power does not need anyone

An authoritarian person needs to strengthen his image. He needs this to gain followers, subjects - people he will control with his power.

True power is not interested in quantitative indicators. It doesn't matter if a person is "following" a strong person or 5 million - his message stays the same. And this message comes naturally to itself and its inner integrity.

4. Authority seeks answers on the outside, power always looks on the inside

"She was not looking for answers from strangers. The answers to the questions about your life are within you. Only you know what can give your heart rest. Only you can hear your inner voice. The key is to ask the right questions. "- C. Nordyk.

Authority always needs external reality, as a basis for consolidating its image and maintaining power over others. True power always trusts his intuition more than the judgments of strangers.

Of course, there are times in our lives when external reality gives us the answer to a question that torments us or helps us to look at the situation from a new angle. But a strong man, instead of blindly following them or believing in something, is primarily guided by his inner instinct.

5. Authority is noisy, power is silent

Authority struggles to show how strong it is… It likes to show its power or material wealth, while power does not require anything to feel the force.

Authority uses all its achievements as proof of power. True power does not have to shout to gain the admiration of others.

Inner silence is the place where true power feels most confident, where it feels completely safe.
