When we are happy we feel better. But most of us are limited to finding the phenomenon, when, in fact, we should make our happiness an absolute priority.

For what is more precious in a man's life than health - physical and emotional well-being? And what could be more poisonous to man than unhappiness - physical and emotional suffering?

Here are 12 lessons that, when put into practice, can make the difference between a sad and happy life:

#1 - Don't be resentful

The German philosopher Albert Schweitzer said that happiness means good health and a bad memory. This means that if at some point someone has hurt you or hurt you, it is better to forgive and forget than to let negative feelings dominate you for the rest of your life.

Wearing a spade means being depressed, anxious, stressed. Forgetting the offense, you clear your mind, you have more energy and you can enjoy what good life has to offer.

#2 - Treat everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect

Kindness and altruism cause the brain to produce serotonin - the hormone of happiness.

#3 - See a difficult situation as a challenge

If instead of considering yourself defeated, you fight for its solution, you can turn it into a new chance in life.

#4 - Don't worry about anything, especially in situations where you have no power to intervene

Most of the time, they are solved without your help. Live in the present and don't worry about the future. You will be much happier.

#5 - Speak well to others

Being good is better than being bad, isn't it? Gossip can be funny to some extent, but it always leaves you with a sense of embarrassment and guilt.

Saying only pleasant things about others is a form of positive thinking that is good for your health.

#6 - Don't compare yourself to others

Every man has his own rhythm of life and his own destiny. Feeling superior or inferior to someone else will never bring you the inner peace you need to be content with yourself. Focus on your evolution without relating to others.

#7 - Choose your friends carefully

Remember that all the unfortunate need company to have a shoulder to cry on. Therefore, surround yourself only with optimistic people. The more positive energy there is around you, the better you will feel.

#8 - Do not seek the approval of others for what you do

Happy people don't care what others think of them. Do what your heart and reason dictate and don't let the negativists influence you. It is impossible to please everyone.

#9 - Speak less and listen more

You will become wiser. Meditate. Moments of loneliness, in total peace, help you find inner peace. You don't have to be a Zen master to do that.

#10 - Eat well

What you eat causes your body to produce certain hormones, which will influence your mood and energy level. Natural food makes you healthy and happy. Also, move. Exercise always gives you a feeling of well-being.

#11 - Be aware of what you have accomplished

Don't yearn for more. Happiness does not mean having everything you want but appreciating what you have. Surround yourself only with things that are important and useful to you.

Happy people do not feel the need to accumulate excess. The more possessions you have, the more you worry. People who live in modest houses and buy only what they need are happier.

#12 - Do not lie, steal, or cheat

You put yourself in a state of stress, with long-term health consequences. Lying attracts the contempt of others and erodes self-esteem, and deception can have even more serious consequences, as it can complicate your life and cut off any chance of ever being happy in this life.

Bonus: Being happy means being healthy

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who choose to be happy and those who choose to be unhappy.

Goethe said that everyone has their own happiness in their hands, just as the artist has raw material, which he wants to shape. Contrary to popular belief, happiness does not come from wealth, power, or fame. Happiness comes from within.

The richest people in the world can be very unhappy at the same time, while simple, modest people can be very happy. In general, happy people look at the positive side of life: they are happy with themselves and happy to be there.
