5 Spooky Spirits from Around the World
In recognition of my favourite time of year, I thought it would be fitting to look at some of the greatest myths and legends surrounding our friends of the other world – spirits.
Emm MargaretPublished 3 years ago in HorrorThe Spooky Spectrum: Carrie White from Carrie (1976) (Part 1)
Welcome, my dear readers to The Spooky Spectrum, A Halloween Edition of Breaking the (Autistic) Code. I will be looking at Autistic-coded characters in Horror films during the month of October. It is important to note that I will definitely be discussing some disturbing topics in these essays so be cautious before continuing on. Spoilers will also be a thing as well. I am not a licensed medical professional and this series is not about diagnosing the character(s) with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This series is a personal examination of the film/TV show's plot, the character's traits and personality and how they relate to me as an Autistic woman. I would encourage my readers to seek out different perspectives on disability representation especially from BIPOC disabled creators who are often ignored in the disability discourse.
Kelsey O'MalleyPublished 3 years ago in HorrorHalloween Memories and Epic Costumes Using Papier-mâché
One of my favorite memories from Halloween past involves making papier-mâché masks with my dad & brother when I was a kindergartner. Looking back, it’s really impressive that my father undertook such an ambitious project with his children who were only five and two years old. Instead of taking us to the store to buy some of those flimsy plastic cape and mask combos that passed as “costumes” for children in the mid-1970s, dad took on the daunting task of engaging his young children in a creative activity that spanned several days.
Allison RicePublished 3 years ago in Horror11 Fearsome Fright-Night Facts For Super-Fans!
Fans of 80's horror will no doubt have fond memories of picking up this horror vampire-gorefest at their local video store. Fright Night was a smash-hit blockbuster when it was released in 1985, earning a direct sequel and a couple of remakes along the way. It perfectly combines classic Bram Stoker vampire lore whilst adding in a fun 80's snapshot of teenage life. I mean, what's not to love about a boy next door finding out his neighbour is a blood-sucking vampire and having to fight back? Nothing that's what!
Matt LoftusPublished 3 years ago in Horror5 spooky Australian myths and legends to keep you awake at night.
One night when I was a small child, I awoke feeling like something was watching me. I scanned my darkened bedroom, taking extra care to see if there were any shadows that shouldn’t be there, or If I could hear any breathing that wasn’t my own.
Emm MargaretPublished 3 years ago in Horror‘Prisoners of the Ghostland’ Movie Review
Set in a bizarre, post-apocalyptic pastiche of Eastern and Western culture, a famed bank robber known only as “Hero” (Nicolas Cage) is called upon by the sleazy Governor of Samurai Town (Bill Mosely) to rescue his missing adopted granddaughter Bernice (Sofia Boutella). He is strapped into a leather jumpsuit with explosive nodes attached to his neck, arms, and testicles, and informed that the devices will be detonated if he fails or refuses to comply. Now the Hero must venture into the desert expanse known as “the Ghostland” to retrieve Bernice within three days in order to win back his own life.

It was still dark when I got to the beach. The moon was out, and it illuminated the fog. It glided over the water, and I could taste the salt on my lips.
Matthew DonnellonPublished 3 years ago in HorrorFor the love of the Sea
The ocean is my one love. Ever since I was a child every moment I could spend on the ocean was heaven on earth. It didn't matter if it was rain or shine. I loved the ocean all the time. I grew up on a small island in the southeast asian chain of islands. Growing up by the sea I think maybe had something to do with it. I could go there anytime I wanted and I did. I would watch with eager eyes when storms rolled in watching how it affected the ocean. So I personally find it ironic that a storm is what did me in.
Josephine MasonPublished 3 years ago in HorrorHalloween Urban Legends: Fact or Fiction?
Halloween abounds with stories that raise the hair on the back of our necks, but how true are they? Are they all fiction, or is there just enough fact mixed in, duping us into believing these farfetched tales?
Cynthia VaradyPublished 3 years ago in HorrorKing Ludwig's Castle
Zach looked half asleep and uninterested as he toured the castle with his class. He never wanted to study abroad but his friends convinced him. “These are our college years.” “When will we be able to travel again?” He knew they were right, but he wanted to go some place for a week or two, not a few months. He missed his bed, his family, and mainly his dog.

From his debut early in season 5, Aaron quickly became one of The Walking Dead's most important characters. He is the character that introduced Rick and the Gang to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, and is now only three original Alexandrians left standing.
