Some time ago, I discovered the Amityville Horror, released on April 15, 2005 in the United States, the director of the film being Andrew Douglas, and the writer of these real events is Jay Anson, the most beloved after he released the book. I am a big fan of horror movies, because this movie has marked me in a pleasant way, but sometimes it has left me with questions… I chose to write here about the terrifying story that lies behind this house in the coastal town of Amityville, long Island, where I have a lot of fun. East of New York, USA.

Called by nearby locals “the Devil’s House”, it is a case of alleged paranormal phenomena that occurred between 1974 and 1976. Ronald DeFeo Jr., the eldest son of the DeFeo family, murdered his entire family while they were sleeping. The case became famous until forensic scientists devalued the posterior part of the paranormal events, which then inspired a series of American horror books and films.

The first book was written by author Jay Anson, as I said in the above lines After the book was released, she was immediately criticized for the writer’s and writer’s motivations, as well as the style she drew up, to seek the sensational at all costs.

The famous two-story house is located in the rich neighborhoods of Amityville. It was built in 1928 in a Dutch colonial style. After the terrifying events that took place in that house, after the release of the film, the two windows on the upper floor were taken over as the eyes of the Devil. After the murders that horrified the entire Amityville coast, a real estate agency painted the house white with the idea that they would sell the house in the fastest way. After its macabre past, a few potential customers were barely interested in this place.

The massacre at the Amityville Devil's House

The story began in 1965, when the DeFeo family bought home and settled in the house. His father, Ronald DeFeo Sr., was executive director of the Brigette-Karl Buick concession in Brooklyn. He was in a concubinage with Louise Brigante and had five children: Ronald Jr., 23, Dawn, 18, Allison, 13 years old, Mark, 12 and John 9 years old

A few years later, on November 13, 1974, at 3:15 am, eldest son Ronald DeFeo Jr., armed with a 357 caliber rifle, willingly murdered his father, mother, and father. the two brothers and the two sisters were sleeping peacefully in their beds. The mystery that remains to the police is that no neighbor has heard the gunshots and that, according to the autopsy, the bodies of those killed have not been moved from their place.

The same day, at 18 and 35 minutes, police received an alarming phone call from Joey Yeswit, who shared with police the story told by a young man. In a bar, he had heard from a terrified young man that his family had been killed. He went with him to the scene, and along with several others they discovered the terrifying murder. Ten minutes later, police arrived to investigate the scene and found the DeFeo family murdered.

A few days after the murder, Ronald DeFeo admitted to the crime, and he was to be held accountable. He explained to police that he left around 4 a.m. pretending to be going to work, where he repeatedly tried to contact his parents by phone. Then he decided to go home where he discovered the whole case.

The Lutz family and the new owners bought the house

A few years after the dark past of the house in Amityville. A family named Lutz will move here on December 18, 1975. George Lutz, 28, the owner of a cabinet of city inspectors, visited the property with his wife Kathleen. Tocami had married and had three children from a previous marriage, Kathleen had just remained a widow after her husband's death. They really thought they had found the house of their dreams, so buy it!

After getting pretty comfortable with the house, they said they witnessed paranormal phenomena and confided to journalist and writer Jay Anson, who immediately wrote a fictional story presented as a documentary: Amityville Horror – A true story.

Terrified of what they thought was in their dream home, the Lutz family called Father Ralph J. Pecoraro, to come and bless the house properly. His blessing began with the room where the two boys died. The priest said that an evil voice, coming out of the blue, simply shouted, "go!" he then remembered that he had been invaded by flies coming from nowhere, which would have attacked him.

Since then, the Devil’s House in Amityville has passed through several hands, and none of the owners who lived in the house after the Lutz family have complained about any abnormal case or the manifestation of a paranormal phenomenon. The new owners allowed people to visit the famous place, but less in the basement and the floor area, and this remained a mystery for us all.
