One dark and cloudy Halloween night during the early 1800s, there was a young girl named Heather. She was going trick or treating with a group of about five friends. Their names were: Lydia, Francis, Charlotte, Annabeth, and Glory. They were all very good friends. The night was going by without a hitch, or so the girls thought.

As the group approached one of the last houses on their route, Heather, which by the way was the oldest, told Francis to go knock on the door all by herself. Francis was usually the bold one but, not this time. Something about that old house gave her the creeps. She resisted and told Heather very sharply, “you go!” Lydia, Charlotte, Annabeth, and Glory all giggled knowing Heather would never dare. Heather may have been the oldest but, underneath she was just a little bit yellow belly. Heather didn’t like the retorts of giggles and soon the group was at odds.

All of a sudden the girls were fighting about nothing. Heather got so mad when Annabeth, one of the younger ones of the group said, Heather is just chicken,” then giggled again. Heather grabbed the youngest of the group, Glory, and went right up to the house and entered; Not one sound of a knock or hello. For the girls waiting outside in completely amazement, it seemed like forever and a day before the front door finally reopened. But, only Heather came out. She was all covered in blood with a look of pure terror on her face. Charlotte bravely ran up and asked, “where is Glory?” And, Heather replies, “she will not be around anymore” then she laughed in a strange way. It was like she was possessed with the devil or something.

Now, every October 31st the myth of Glory and the haunted manor spread through the generations. The story of how Glory wanders the manor until she can be released from the terror she relives every Halloween night. Now she roams the manor waiting for a relative of Heather’s for the pay back she feels she deserves.

The date is October 31, 1994. Over 150 years later. It was a cool Monday morning that Halloween and a young girl named Marie hopped up from her dreams. “Tonight is the night I have my Halloween party.” Thirteen year old Marie said to herself in a mumbled sort of way. She had just woke up from her slumber with a smile.

Marie was known as one of the popular girls at school. So, this party meant everything, not just to her, but to her friends as well. “I have to have the greatest costume ever for tonight,” Marie exclaimed while hopping out of bed. “Marie!” Her mom called in a cheerful voice. Marie replied, “yes mom! What do you want?” In a sleepy sort of voice. “Are you ready to have the Halloween party tonight?” Her mom asked. “Yes mom! Just need my finishing touch, my costume!” Marie said with joy in her voice. Her mom went to the stairs and said, “come down and eat some breakfast so you can wake yourself up. You have school and also be ready to meet your friends at the mall after to pick up your costume, too.”

Marie had a ball hanging out with her friends at the mall. Now, she was home and ready to prepare for her big night. The costume was something special and classic, Wonder Woman! “I’m gonna stand out tonight once I put myself together,” Marie said laying out her outfit and accessories. Marie knew there could be a possibility of a friend wearing the same thing, so she thought ahead. She had her costume decorated in jewels and glitter so she could make sure to stand out. The house was ready and all set up, then the doorbell rang. “And it starts!” Marie said as she practically floated down to the door.

That night at the party Marie and her friends had an idea to go to the old manor. They just wanted to see if the story was true. The story of the girl who was still looking for her friend’s relatives, the friend that left her to die.

Marie and her friends knew the house wasn’t that far away and they could do some trick or treating along the way. The group had not one care in the world. Bouncing from house to house collecting goodies on the journey to the unknown. Finally, they arrived. The air got colder and a breeze started to blow. One friend decided it was too scary and scattered off home. Marie and the rest just stood silent for what seemed like forever, then another friend managed to say in a shaky voice, “let, let’s just go. We saw it no big deal...right?” “Right!” Marie finally chimed in. “So let’s go, I mean go inside and see what this so-called old story is about.”

They all dragged their feet but, still headed forward to the front door of this so-called haunted manor. Marie slowly reached for the doorknob when a strong gust of wind helped her out. The door flew open! “Wow, that was weird” one friend said. “Yeah! Should we even go in?” Another friend asked. Marie just said cautiously, “follow me.” As they all piled into the house the door slammed behind them and they are left in the dark. Then, a scream that broke the silence of the group. Next, thing you know the group was back outside in the yard. “I was touched!” One friend said. “So was I!” Another voice exclaimed. “Me too!” Another friend in the group said. As they gathered themselves and their thoughts, someone noticed Marie was missing. Marie was down a long line of relatives that were related to Glory’s friend Heather. She never knew it but, she was the great, great, great niece of Heather’s and Glory kept her promise. Now, she had her soul, she had her pay back and could Rest In Peace forever more. As for Marie, her story continues.
