The Truth About The Flame
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. As was often the case, Elizabeth was observing the cabin from a safe distance. She wasn't sure how long she stood breathless and motionless, but when she regained her faculties, she considered running. Instead, she called Bako and Akilah and asked them to meet her.

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Lex scrunched her eyes to try and make out the full shape of the cabin through the small specks of snow falling in front of her. She knew this spot on the trail used to belong to a trail angel- a safe rest spot created for weary backpackers, but she was almost certain that this one had been cleared out for years. At least, that’s what she recalled from her reading in preparation for this leg of the trip.

You can hear the quarreling getting loud as the group in the car was lost on the lonely dark road. The little sedan of a car could only hold so many passengers of five with angry confused looks on their faces. They only had so much gas in the car on the deserted-looking road at night. They were going nowhere fast and it looked like a long night ahead with it only being 2:45 p.m. America screamed "Do you even know where you are going?" to Sean. Sean was ready to lose his cool and explode into a rage against America. He had to calm down and speak with gritted teeth to America. "Why don't you slow down and see why the GPS doesn't work or any of our electronics for goodness sake," said Sean to America. It was like they all were in a dead zone area where nothing worked even barely the car as the electrical in the car started to go in and out to turn off the car. Sam the other person in the car screamed out of desperation "we need to get to the cabin fast or we are going to freeze to death in this car!" Shivering and teeth chattering Tom let his opinion be heard in a loud matter, "Now how are we supposed to do that with the car turning off?" It was Brittany's turn now to talk out of frustrated annoyance, "Don't worry everyone we will get there eventually like next year." They all seem to be uptight and cynical about getting to their destination. While the group sat cold and grumpy in the car a great fog started to cover the area. It was only an hour later and nothing had changed as the car was at a standstill as if frozen in time.

Crisp and cold was the best way to describe how the area felt right about now. Nyx and her friends stood in front of the entrance to the rumored haunted cemetery. “Well here we are everyone. So... who is gonna go in first?” One of the males, Aaron had spoke. Aaron had been talking to the group of friends about this cemetery for months. But even he seemed hesitant on entering the graveyard first, to much of a scaredy-cat of the unknown. The group of friends looked at each other and stood silent, not one wanting to speak up or move first. With a huff and kick of her combat boots Nyx finally spoke up and stated “I’ll go, figuring that no one else wants to go.” With that she turned heel towards the gate, once there she undid the latch and headed into the graveyard. The air seeming thick yet colder once she stepped past the threshold.

I should start off by saying that I know some of you will notice that this book’s genre is different than the last book that I reviewed. This is because I do read a variety of genre’s so you will get that here. Reading a variety allows me to mix it up a little bit and not get bored with one genre or the other.

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Dancing and flickering in the frigid, night breeze. The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Jack stopped dead in his tracks, his flashlight falling from his grasp with a soft thud as it rolled across the forest floor. “Jack? What’s wrong?” Celeste called out with the faintest of urgency. Jack pointed to the amber glow emitting in the distance between the pines. “Someone’s in there. We need to go”.

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Frankie almost didn’t see it. He was falling asleep to adult cartoons on TBS, comforted by the television’s flickering lights of color. A harsh zag of white cut through his eyelids once, inciting shock and pain, then came the return of the blue light from the TV. The light flashed again, and he shielded his eyes before opening them to near-darkness.

Six-year-old Agatha was a sweet and obedient child who created almost no problems for her loving parents. The girl spent almost all her free time in the yard, playing with her friends, and her mother, doing household chores, periodically looked out the window to make sure that everything was all right with her daughter. Agatha's father was at work all day to provide his family with everything they needed, so he was never at home.
