ACT I: The Birth of a Curse Seldom have I wondered of the good anymore, only to know the bad. I have been plagued by the unfortunate events that have taken the place of good deeds. I was staring at the wall of blank ambiguity, and gave into what it fed. Never was I the young man I aspired to be, forever lost without what I had.
Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Daniel Isn't Real' (2019)
On the surface of this movie is a pretty solid story about mental illness, having to live through being raised by someone with mental illness, and discovering you may have inherited that mental illness. I talked about this in my review of They Look Like People (2015). From the inside of the mind of mental illness, the world is already a horror story. There is already plenty of heartache having to watch someone go through that, only to discover you might have inherited it.

it was the night before Halloween when everyone in town was hustling and bustling trying to get all their decorations up and costumes bought. Amy had a young daughter of about six who seemed to love the holiday going trick or treating and getting to dress up.

I have had dreams that made me confused about my reality. The Dreams where the faces looked like they would jump out at me and eat me. Where their touch felt so cold that I could feel the chill go through my spine, I felt the goosebumps form on my arms. Have you ever had that dream? I was not able to face my reality. There was a figure in the corner of my eye sitting in the dark. I saw it move closer and closer till I was screaming for somebody to help me. I wasn't religious, but I tried praying for a God to protect me as my mom taught me. Of course, it didn't work. Eventually, I was hiding under my cover, holding onto my arms in the fetus position with my eyes closed, crying for help. I don't remember how old I was, but I still remember every detail to this day. My mom heard me screaming, so she ran up the stairs, turned on the lights, and saw me rocking back and forth under the cover, repeating the words "somebody help me". When she ran upstairs, I heard footsteps. I thought whatever was in my room was messing with me because the footsteps were heavy & I heard a deep moan. I didn't even bother to look up even when the lights came on. I was too scared I couldn't hear anything else but the deep moan that filled my head.

It all started in 1991. I was 18-years old and still living at home. I had just met a boy with whom I fell head over heels in love. His name was Christian, and we just went well together. We had so many things in common that it was creepy already. Today I am firmly convinced that he was my soulmate.

I didn't wake up, I just...was standing in the room. The room I have never been in and will not leave. Can not leave? I don't know. My head is just a daze. Not in any pain nor discomfort, just no memory of how I got here or what is going on.

Sajin stepped forward and shouted, father I will not server your charge or command, but yet I will purge this land of your fouls, evils and indiscretions. You've poisoned this land for far too long, you are a murderous, deliberate brute and you deserve to be cut down. Vonbak marched forward and asked “do you dare insult me, in front of my kingdom, on my land? Threaten me and take charge against my reign? Fool! but yet still a boy, you’ve been poisoned by the witches hand, and when I take her life, and take her life I shall, you will be cleansed of this sorcery, and maybe, then, after your body has been beaten, bloodied, and broken, may I consider giving you your place back in my kingdom, and you may, be allowed to keep your tongue. I had reason to end your fruitless life when you were a boy, but you were taken from me so you were spared. Is that true father? or are you not the might that you claim! Sajin shot back in mock victory. No one dared whisper a thought of suspicion of the dark lords weakness although it tickled the fancy of all the observers present. You must be a fool to speak so boldly, are you mad? In search of some death by a brutal sword. No father I’m just finally coming to the sense of my own power. as Sajin spoke this truth he stepped forward and morphed into the beast that his father desired to rule his castle. This offended every nature of Vonbaks being Sajin’s voice deepened as he continued, and unlike you father, family or not, I am and I will be the bloody end to your reign, then Sajin bellowed a low long thunderous growl in the direction of the kingdom, that shook the earth and the armies that stood behind and in front of him to the core of their creation. The beast was in total alliance with Sajin mind, body, and soul Vonbak was shocked by this, but held true to his might and reign, and said you seal your own fate boy. Vonbak took flight over his army and brought his demon full on under the moonlight in the presence of everyone. The warriors cry was so deep that you could feel it in your loins from miles away Vonbak reeled his head back in the forge of his nature, his body grew to much larger proportions, his skin turned black as suet and his claws much larger then present appeared and Vonbaks wings and fangs grew also, Wild and brutal was his appearance now if it wasn’t before. No one ever saw Vonbaks full-fledged demon and this solidified their truth to sides if they ever considered crossing. Vonbak screamed a stressed, monstrous scream, “yooooouuu ssseeeeee wwwhhhaaattttt yyyoooouuuuuvveeee ddddoooonnneeee noooowwwww ffffoooollllll. I am going to bloody the lands with the limbs and life of your army and witches and I am going to take great pleasure in the drinking your blood and consuming of your flesh. Bring me the witch, Vonbak commanded his frontline army of sirens, sentinels, gravelers , morphlings , and swords, they tore through the earth descending on Sajin’s army as the assault ensued sajin starred up and vonbak looked down as they weighed each others fight and waited on either to take the first attack. Selekah stood behind Sajin fully aware that if Vonbak won this war world that this time may very well be the death of the world as they all knew it.

The usual trope of “this torture is part of a game” is not a new concept in film. Rarely is the concept centered around voluntary participation, though. “The Odds” revives this concept in a sexy, creepy, unnerving way. Starring James Fuertes (“The Bachelorette” Season 12) as the enigmatic Game Master & Abbi Butler, known only in the movie as “Player”, the two begin a strange game with the ultimate goal being one million dollars.

Death to all Smurfs Introduction by Kenneth Keller It was a sad spring day in the forest. All the animals had gone away. The sky was full of mist and the air was permeated with the now familiar scent of death. Hatred was breathing again in the village once more. The clouds were gray and the tree trunks were stained with blood. New inhabitants now graced this land with singing dancing and laughing. These things, all once common in the village, were slowly starting to return. But alas so had the Monster.
