Are you brave enough to take a ride?

It's time to get out of the house and a road trip sounds fun and amusing! Taking a venture with Raven Willow is just what you need to kindle your nerves. Any time of the year is the perfect time for a haunted road trip and Tennessee has plentiful frights just waiting for you.

Almost any Tennessean will tell you that one of the most unnerving places in Tennessee is the Higdon Hotel located in Reliance TN. The Higdon was once one of the most grand resorts in the state. What makes this place so interesting is that nobody seems to know why it closed. History has forgotten the Higdon as very little information can be found about it. It seems to have just frozen in time, slowly perishing with generations.

Now let's move along to Jellico Tennessee. Some people consider this to be one of the most haunted towns in the state. Jellico has seen everything from a train wreck, when a troop train plunged into a 50-foot gorge of the Clear River 11 miles South of town killing many young soldiers. A train explosion, when a carload of dynamite exploded and nearly leveled the town. A haunted post office and numerous other ghost sightings, stories and legends.

Not so far away is Morristown, Tennessee, the Evil Dead movie was filmed here. The cabin still stands and offers visitors a chance to go inside for themselves. When the movie was being filmed some of the actors fell ill from an unknown cause. Cameramen also had to be removed from the location due to fevers and nausea. They believed that just like in the movie, malevolent spirits haunted the cabin and the woods surrounding it. Some parts of the movie was even rewrote on the spot to accommodate what was really happening.

The Carnton Plantation in Franklin Tennessee is just another one of the spooky spots that we can visit. The historic Lotz House has often been featured in popular ghost hunting shows. The Old Franklin City Hall has by-far seen its fair share of bone-chilling incidents. Third Avenue is said to be the most haunted street in the city. There is even a ghost tour through the streets where we can hear all about Franklin’s paranormal activity.

We will also want to stop and visit the Tennessee State Prison in Nashville. Stories claim that we might hear the voices, moans and footsteps of former death-row inmates who met their fate in Old Sparky. This is also where Johnny Cash played his most famous concert in 1968. It was also featured in the Tom Hanks movie "The Green Mile". It is said that the souls taken by Old Sparky was never allowed to leave the premises.

We absolutely must make a stop in Memphis! Not only can we visit the haunted (by Elvis himself) Graceland but the movie Silence of the Lambs was also filmed here. It is said that Memphis is occupied by more dead people than living.

Don't forget about Hurricane Mills! Loretta Lynn claims that this property is haunted by the spirits of multiple Civil War Soldiers. This place has even been featured on the Travel Channel for its supernatural activity.

When we get hungry, we can stop at the Greenbrier Restaurant in Gatlinburg. A young, spritely ghost named Lydia haunts the restaurant. Apparently Lydia was left standing at the alter waiting for the love of her life, who obviously had other plans. Lydia was so sodden and sad that she hung herself from the rafters. On the menu we can even order a spooky desert, "Lydia's Chocolate Suicide for Two".

Saving the best for last, I want to visit the Bell Witch in Adams Tennessee. If you're inclined to do so, we can even tour the inside of the cave. Andrew Jackson himself was said to have been terrified of this place. Not only did a poltergeist murder John Bell here but it tormented his family for years. Some people swear that it's still here.

There are so many other hauntingly, wonderful places that we could visit, this was just to name a few. So the next time that you pull out your road map, why not plan a diabolical journey through the state of Tennessee.
