Jason Canela is best known for appearing as Arturo Rosales on the CBS daytime drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Prior to that role he was seen in telenovelas DONDE ESTA ELISA and COSITA LINDA. Canela also was in the American shows PITCH, and MISSING. The Latino actor joined the cast of Y&R in February 2018 as a contractor working with Nick Newman. He ended up having an affair with his boss's mom Niki.

This shocked viewers because it was later revealed that Nikki and Victor had an open marriage and that he had a girlfriend named Helen. Arturo later became engaged to Abby Newman who is Nick's niece, Nikki's stepdaughter, and Victor's granddaughter. Rosales was later joined in Genoa City by his sister Lola, brother Rey, and sister in law Mia.

The character left Genoa City in the spring of 2019 when it was revealed that Mia was pregnant with his child while still married to his brother Rey. Arturo returned in August 2019 for Lola's wedding to Kyle Abbott and came back to Genoa City again in December 2020 when Rey married Sharon Newman on New Year's Eve.

Canela wants his fans to know that he has some good news to share regarding his career. He will now be joining the cast of the ABC crime drama THE ROOKIE which is in its third season. In a recent Instagram post the actor said: “So grateful to do what I love,” “This journey is filled with so many good and not-so-good moments but it’s these moments that truly make it all worth it! I will continue to work and hopefully, I can nurture my craft along the way so that these unforgettable blessings continue to come my way!”

One of Canela's "not so good moments" is probably the reason his character was released from The Young and the Restless. The Rosales family was brought on board by Mal Young who at the time was the head writer. Young had also stopped utilizing Doug Davidson a close to 40 year veteran actor and legacy character in Genoa City. During Young's 'reign of terror' as some fans put it, Elieen Davidson and Mishael Morgan quit the CBS daytime drama. Christel Khalil went on recurring status and longtime Genoa Cityresidents like Lauren, Michael, Victor and Niki were placed on the back burner.

Fans complained, and some blamed the Rosales family because their favorite characters were no longer in front burner storylines. Eric Braeden who portrays Victor Newman went on Twitter and complained about "Dougie Davidson" and other legacy characters being pushed to back because of"Newbies, obviously referring to the Rosales clan.

Jason Canela clapped back and announced on social media that he was only doing the job he was hired for and that the Rosales family was not going anywhere. Unfortunately, it was only a few months later that Arturo was sent packing out of Genoa City. While on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, Canela's character was a gigolo and an adulterer, who betrayed his own brother.

On THE ROOKIE Canela will have the recurring role of Cesar Madrigal whose family is considered to be criminal royalty. Madrigal is positioned to take over his father's underworld empire. The third season of THE ROOKIE actually began in January but Canela will make his debut on Sunday, May 2 in an episode titled "Brave Heart" at 10:00 PM on ET. Best of luck to Jason Canela in thsi new role and may he only move onward and upward in his career.
