Finding the perfect show can be hard. Finding the perfect show to replace the show you just finished can be even harder. Struggling to find the next hidden gem? Whether your thing is action movies or reality shows - here are my top recommendations.

Parks and Recreation - Derry Girls

Missing the antics of the lovable yet ridiculous Parks and Recreation cast? This off beat Irish comedy will make you laugh and then cry. The story is set during 1990s politically divided Ireland, but it focuses on the day to day hijinks of a group of high school friends. This show may seem completely different from Parks and Rec, but if you are looking for humor, heart and daily romps all wrapped in an oddball comedy then you've come to the right place.

Derry Girls

Gossip Girl - The O.C.

Gossip Girl had everything – mystery, romance, amazing fashion and lovable but complicated characters. If you are missing Rufus’s waffles then I recommend watching the O.C. In the O.C. Ryan - a troubled kid - is adopted by a upper class family and thrust into a new, crazy world. Gossip Girl and the O.C. have more in common than one might think. They share Josh Shwartz. Before he helped to develop Gossip Girl, he was the executive producer and creator of The O.C. Not sold yet? Look no further than the geeky ironic humor of Seth played by Adam Brody, the hilariously smart yet unashamedly girly Summer played by Rachel Bilson.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Veronica Mars

Love Buffy? To you I recommend Veronica Mars. This series follows snarky teenager Veronica Mars as she navigates her school’s social scene and solves crimes for her detective dad. The show became such a cult favorite that the movie was even crowd-funded.

Oceans 11 - Money Heist

Money Heist, much like Oceans 11, has both action and comedy. In this Spanish heist drama the main characters attempt to break into and steal from the Spanish mint. The twist? Almost the entire show is set inside the bank.

Money Heist

The Bachelor - Terrace House

It is hard to compare The Bachelor to any other TV show on television. To Bachelor lovers out there I will recommend Japanese series Terrace House. While it lacks the glamour of The Bachelor, this show focuses on interpersonal story lines as they play out between eight strangers sharing a house. The show is interspersed with a group of Japanese comedians and psychologists who discuss what goes on between the characters. The show is also a welcome respite for those like myself who occasionally get tired of the producer produced drama as the show does not rely on producers for its story lines.

Selling Sunset - Instant Hotel

I started watching Selling Sunset for the first time during the pandemic, quickly became hooked and couldn’t stop watching. Beyond the glitz and glamour the show is really about a set of badass hustlers. For those of you hooked I would recommend Instant Hotel. In this series different groups of instant hotel owners (basically Airbnb) stay at each others homes to compete for who has the best rent-out property. The show packs some great real estate, characters, and scheming from the owners who try to use underhanded tactics to get the other homeowners to vote for their rental property.

Crash Landing On You - Legend of the Blue Sea

Crash Landing On You was one of the breakout k-drama hits of the pandemic. To those of you wanting a little k-drama action I would recommend Legend of the Blue Sea. The series stars Lee Min Ho (The King: Eternal Monarch) and Jun Ji Hyun (My Love From the Stars) as a thief and a mermaid who become enmeshed in a romance/crime drama. The story features breathtaking scenery and hilarious characters.
