Will DC's Wonder Woman or Aquaman Movies Get Sequels?

DC's shared universe plan has finally found its footing. Man of Steel has come out, setting up everything that follows. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has wrapped filming and a teaser trailer has already been released, with Suicide Squad soon to follow, along with Wonder Woman. But while many iconic DC characters are coming to the silver screen, do we really need to see them in a solo movie more than once?

The characters will be very well-known.

It's no secret that DC Cinematic Universe is trying to get their movies out ASAP. Each year up until 2020 is stacked with at least two movies (three, when the Batman and Superman standalones come out). While it's true that the movies are being introduced fast, the characters are being brought out even faster. Batman v Superman is set to introduce the entire Justice League, however briefly (minus Green Lantern), Suicide Squad will not only have some of the most notorious villains in the DC Universe, it'll also have Batman (and Aquaman, if rumours are to be believed). Green Lantern is most likely going to introduce more than one Corps Member, and Justice League Part One will just be an explosion of characters. Each character will be seen on film at least 3-4 times before 2020 (Batman v Superman, Justice Leagues, Solo Film). But how many times do we really need to see each character alone?

Do we even need sequels?

It's a serious question. Do we need sequels? In short, no. The DC Unoverse will be an amazingly efficient amchine one day, and there's no need to bog down progress with constant reminders of the important characters. Like I said before, each character wil appear in 3-4 movies by 2020, so do we still need to dwell on them after that? No. They can crop up in future movies in cameo roles and will obviously be in Justice League movies, but DC can expand into their lesser known characters one the big guys are out of the way.

Which characters would we see in "Phase 2"?

Green Arrow. Hawkman. Martian Manhunter. Those are just a few of the characters that will make their big screen debut (if not already showcased in the JL movies). Hawkman is already an intriguing concept: a man reborn at death, gifted with the powers of flight, but becomes more savage every time he comes back to life. Martian Manhunter: the last of Mars, basically Vision/Jesus in Superman's origin story. And Green Arrow. Arrow definitely won't run past 2020, giving at least a two year gap between a TV show to movie translation. He'll be familiar enough to be marketable, but forgotten enough for audiences to be accepting of a new Emerald Archer. Other characters that could appear are Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (hopefully a team up movie), Batman Beyond, Birds of Prey, and a couple others.

From what we've heard, we're (basically) not getting sequels anyways.

Just wait before you explode in the comments. Yes, Batman v Superman was originally a Superman sequel, but now it's not, according to our Kryptonian friend himself. And yes, Superman is getting another stand alone adventure, but is it really a sequel? Isn't it his first real movie? No, I'm not calling Man of Steel bad, but follow me here: all the current DC movies are set in a world where they can acknowledge each other's existence. Wonder Woman can talk about her buddy Kal-El, Batman can tell Alfred about the time he hilariously fought Superman. But what could Superman do in Man of Steel? Nothing. Because as much as it was a Superman movie, it was really an introductory movie. That's why we Man of Steel's sequel isn't really a sequel. It's his first movie in this shared universe, and therefore isn't truly a sequel.

If these characters do come back, there's a specific way to do it:

Team-ups. After the initial introduction of a hero and seeing them in an ensemble, it's time to test their compatibility with specific team members. A The Flash/Green Lantern buddy cop comedy/adventure through time and space would be one that would have audiences lining up all over the country. A Batman and Cyborg movie (although incredibly unconventional) would be an interesting movie, especially if the enemy is a tech based villain. Imagine Cyborg trying to teach Batman. Batman. A Superman/Wonder Woman movie with a revived (?) Doomsday as the villain? These kinds of movies would work, Warner Bros. They really would. But they basically already know that considering the fact that we're getting Batman v Superman.
