Victor Newman had his fans concerned when he retired from the company that he built. For close to a year the "mustache" has been laying low and not really participating in the frontline stories on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. When he stood over Ashland Locke who was having a heart attack, threatening not to call for help viewers knew he was back. Victor got Locke to sign his company over to him before dialing the 1 after having already dialing 9 and 1.

Now the most powerful man in Genoa City has pulled off another scheme that will set his son Adam free. He threatened to take Conner from Chelsea so she would confess to poisoning Rey. Victor did a wrong thing for the right reason and now he is on top of the world. He hired Dr. Hedges to play along and say that Chelsea had a breakdown. The psychiatrist seems nervous over his part in the scheme but Victor thanked him and promised to reward him handsomely.

Chelsea is still concerned about being placed in Fairview but Victor promised her that she would get top-notch care and that he would assist her when she was released. Chelsea tells Victor he gave her no choice and he says he did not force her to do a damn thing. Victor is as calculating and cunning as he was when he shot Jack Abbott, then tried to smother him in his hospital bed years ago.

Victor is obtaining a second bonus because Nick has promised his brother that he will give him a second chance. When he finds out his sons are getting along this will really thrill him. On Wednesday, Rey will return to the ranch and tell Victor that it was pretty convenient that Chelsea had a breakdown at his home with a doctor present to administer a sedative. The Newman patriarch will respond by pointing out that had the detective listened to him, Sharon and Adam and done his job correctly that none of this would have happened.

The previews for Wednesday do not show the end of the episode and whether or not Adam is told that he is free, All that is known at this point is that Nick has given his brother much to think about and suggested that he stick around and wait for his innocence to play out.

Spoilers tease that Victor actually does make it to his son's hospital room and let him know he is free. Victor will also ask Adam if he slept with Sharon and he will say no. Rey is going to ask his wife the same thing and she will deny the claim, blaming it on Chelsea being delusional. Sharon will be so hurt that Rey asked her such a thing that this might be the turning point in the marriage. Spoilers have teased that she makes a decision this week and it does not look like Shey is going to survive.

Back at the ranch, Nikki will notice that her husband seems a bit too gleeful at the outcome of the day's events. She will wonder how much Victor had to do with Chelsea's breakdown and Adam going free. Meanwhile, the bad boy Newman will feel guilty because his father allows him to believe that his wife really had a breakdown. It was not that long ago that Victor hired to Mariah to pretend she was her dead sister Cassy in order to gaslight Sharon.

As cruel as he can be, this is the Victor Newman that fans have grown to know and love. Followers of Eric Braeden would not have his character any other way. For now, it looks like Adam is free and he and Nick have made a truce. Faith is on the mend, Rey has been put in his place and Chelsea is paying for her crimes. Those who enjoy THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS are wondering where Victor will strike next and many believe he will target Victoria and Billy. Stay tuned to find out where the "mustache" will be focusing his wrath in Genoa City and who will pay for crossing him.
