The quarantine starts and the desperate attempt for survival will get out of hand.

9. A Moment to Remember (2004)

Next on the list is a movie that you won’t forget. A life-changing encounter at a convenience store occurs when a fashion designer comes back for her drink and bumps into a carpenter. Seeing each other again by chance at a construction site, the two will develop feelings for each other, but something will also develop in our female lead. We may have recommended this movie, but that doesn’t make us responsible for your tears! A Moment to Remember is a simple story. Thanks to the moving performances brought out by our leading characters.

In this movie, a new house comes with a new problem. After moving in, the eldest son of the family gets abducted, and seeing all this happen is his younger brother. If you’re looking for some great laughs and two of your favorite actors on one screen, Midnight Runners is the movie for you. Park Seo Joon and Kang Ha Neul brought again their “A-game”, and deliver an entertaining movie to watch. Let’s all have fun watching the development of an unexpected friendship. Two new students at the Korean National Police University lead different lives and possess different personalities. One thing that brings them together though is a crime that happens right before their eyes. After a night out, the two witness a woman being kidnapped. Before passing away, our female lead made a promise to come back on a rainy day a year later. She made this promise to her husband and unbelievably keeps the promise. Miraculously, she comes back but her memories aren’t with her anymore. How will the story unfold and affect the lives of her family? An adaption of the Japanese novel, Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu, Be with You is a movie that will warm the hearts of viewers. It’s an emotional movie about family, love, and tragedy. Be with You will show viewers the importance of valuing the time we have with our families.

4. Snowpiercer (2013)

The movie that holds the record for the most expensive Korean production, Snowpiercer. In an attempt to stop global warming in the year 2014, a disastrous experiment covers the world in ice and snow. Years later, life on Earth only exists in a train. And no, this isn’t the Train to Busan *wink wink*. Passengers on the train are divided into sections based on their social status and rank, and the treatment will be different for every section. A Korean director and an American screenwriter joined forces and created this beautiful masterpiece. The mix of English and Korean languages was loved by viewers, and this movie became one of the highest-grossing domestic films in South Korea. Did we mention that Chris Evans stars in this movie? Definitely going on our watchlist.

3. Sunny (2011)

If there are bullies, surely there are rescuers too. Sunny tells the story of how a high school student transferee becomes the subject of bullying and how six girls protect her from all the bullies. A vow to stay together forever is made by these seven friends but like other promises, this one doesn’t last. They’re even at a point where they avoid running into our male lead. As time goes by, the children finally speak up and a shocking truth about the school will be discovered. Based on a true story, this movie got the public voicing out their opinions. This resulted in the reopening of the investigations of the incidents portrayed in the movie. Silenced and its sensitive storyline was an eye-opener for many viewers. This Korean movie hit serious topics that put everyone to tears. But it's a story that MUST be told!

1. Swing Kids (2018)

Taking the top spot is none other than Swing Kids. This Korean movie is set during the Korean war where all prisoners, North Korean and Chinese, good and bad, are sent to a camp. The camp will experience problems as prisoners of different beliefs face against each other. Meanwhile, a tap-dancing team will be formed and we will be introduced as “Swing Kids”. Fans of the boy group EXO are in for a treat because one of its members, Do Kyung Soo, plays a main role. Swing Kids will show viewers that movies set in the Korean War can be a little fun and interesting too. Free of the constant seriousness and the politics found in movies set during this period, Swing Kids is here to bring you a musical movie with a lot of tap dancing with a whole lot of lights.
