Victor. and Nikki have family issues during the gala

Thursday on The Young and the Restless, as Victor is basking in the glory of the moment, each of his children are dealing with their own personal issues that bring some unexpected circumstances their way. The Newman patriarch is having the time of his life and even former enemies including Michael, Jill, Jack, Chris and Paul, give honor where it is due. All of them acknowledge that in spite of everything, Victor has been very successful in business. Meanwhile Phyllis, who was not invited is working the room and causing hard feelings everywhere. She has one moment where she shows herself to have compassion when she agrees with Sharon tegarding Kyle and Summer. Sharon had said they are clearly in love and deserve happiness because life can be short. Both Nick and Rey seemed stunned that Phyllis took this position.

This however is but one moment in time and Phyllis later threatens to use the information she has on Chance and Adam in Vegas to attempt to blackmail Abby as she did Chelsea. Abby, however, will not back down and reminds Ms. Summers that she’s already been to jail because of blackmail. Phyllis seems to not care and it’s clear she wants majority ownership in the Grand Phoenix. Chance wonders why Adam is not concerned that Phyllis could land them in jail. Victors youngest son points out that she has what she wants for now and will keep quiet. He also points out that eventually she will mess up.

Later Nick and Phyllis are discussing Victor's accomplishments as they look at the artwork and photos of the Newman patriarch. Nick warns her about causing chaos with everyone and Phyllis responds by saying that he knows her much better than anyone else. and she plants a kiss on her ex. As she was about to leave the building she had the nerve to tell Victor and Nikki she enjoyed the event and Nikki points out that Phyllis was not even invited.

One bright spot in the evening is when Sharon comes clean with her former mother in law and admits she’s having chemo for breast cancer, Nikki says she understands the side affects because her sister Casey went through the same thing. She then tells Sharon that if she can deal with all the issues the two of them have had over the years then she will be able to handle cancer as well. Sharon was clearly touched and she told Nikki thank you. For that one moment these women put all their animosity aside and it was moving.

Chelsea told Adam she was proud of the speech he gave regarding is dad and says parr if her is glad to be out of the Grand Phoenix. She says it was not as fulfilling as when she ran her own business and Adam asks if she wants to go back to designing fashions. As they continue talking Adam tells Chelsea he wants to marry her and make their family complete. He says he will give her time to think about it but she immediately says yes, and adds that she had always felt like his wife.

Jill is devastated when Jack and Victoria sssure her that her son is a lost cause. Meanwhile Amanda tries to stop a drunken Billy from crashing Victor’s big day and is unaware that Ripley is spying on her. She follows her new best buddy to the Newman gala and the two begin to argue. Ripley is hiding in the shadows and it’s clear he is targeting Amanda who walks away from Billy as the lights dim. Her ex looks away for a moment and does not see this. When he looks up again, he assumes Billy is still talking to Amanda but in the dimmed lighting Ripley is actually looking at Victoria. As Villy are talking, Ripply makes his move and stabs Vicki. The episode ends with her falling into Billy’s arms as they both see that she is bleeding from her lower abdomen.
