Diane brings the Abbotts together

Monday’s episode of The Young and the Restless will be a treat for Abbott fans as the entire family meets at the mansion to listen to what Diane Jenkins ( Cynthia Walters) has to say. John Abbott’s ( Jerry Douglas) four children and two of his grandchildren present a united front, striking poses that are similar to those of the powerful Newman clan when they circle the wagons.

This episode, like one a few weeks back, focuses solely on the members of the two most powerful Genoa City families. Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) is usually left out of strategy sessions when her father Victor Newman (Eric Braeden ) calls in the troops. The Newmans have dealt with several calamities during the past year where Abby was not informed, was briefed at a later date, or finds out by accident.

On Monday Abby will be front and center right by Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson's) side when the Abbotts decide to have a pow-wow. Traci Abbott ( Beth Maitland ) sits next to Kyle Abbott ( Michael Mealor) as he processes what his mother has to say and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) listens intently as Diane tries to convince them all she is a new woman.

Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) shows up late because he was being interrogated by Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Vicki called Billy out for using an alias on his Podcast in order to trash Ashland Locke ( Robert Newman). She later goes to the office where has a discussion with her dad and mother Nikki Newman ( Melody Thomas Scott).

The Abbott clan agrees about Diane

After Diane leaves the Abbotts concur that although she sounds sincere they don't trust her as far as they can throw her. Diane had arrived at the Abbott mansion assuming she was going to meet with her son alone. She was stunned to see his cousin, father, aunts, and later his uncle. She said she understood their concerns but assured them she had no secret agenda.

Once Diane had gone, each Abbott gives Kyle some parting wisdom with his father and uncle's words having the most impact. Billy said he was the king of screw-ups and had been given third and fourth chances. Jack emphasized the point that no matter what Kyle alone must make the final decision. Kyle is leaning toward giving his mom another chance although h knows things may not go as he desires.

A surprise Abbott and an uncertain future

At the end of Monday's episode, Jack answers the front door to find his granddaughter on the other side. Allie Nguyen (Kelsea Wang ) has shown up unannounced and asks her granddad if she has come to Genoa City at the wrong time'

Jack is elated to see her and responds by telling her the timing could not be better. Once she is introduced to everyone there will be 7 Abbotts in the family home together at one time. If Harrison Locke is inside the mansion there will be eight.

The Young and the Restless executive producer Josh Griffith teased that both Kyle and his dad may give Diane another chance. Griffith suggested to Soaps in Depth that once Kyle allows his mother back into his life, his father may do the same and hinted that Phyllis Summers might become jealous and spar with her rival.

Y&R fans have complained that Jack needs a love life and some viewers were disappointed when Phyllis and Jack remained friends only but no one at this point can imagine him falling for his son's mother again. Be on the lookout for spoilers and updates related to what happens next with Kyle, Jack, and Diane.
