The Young and the Restless: Diane's return has a ripple effect

Fans of The Young and the Restless have been wondering when Diane Jenkins ( Susan Walters) would begin revealing herself to Genoa City residents who thought she was dead and next week she does just that. Her son and grandson Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Harrison Locke ( Kellan Enriquez) return to town and arrive at the Abbott mansion on Monday but they don’t know Diane is alive.

There is an entire town that has been thinking this woman to be deceased and the individual who believed herself to be the murderer will be the third GC resident to see the truth with her own eyes. Monday on The Young and the Restless Nikki Newman ( Melody Thomas Scott) finds out the woman she believes she killed is very much alive.

Nikki's moment of truth arrives

Nikki walks into Society for a Newman business meeting and sees Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford ) pushing a woman wearing a hat and sunglasses into the elevator. Phyllis has been trying hard to keep Diane under wraps but that’s like pouring a glass of water on a raging inferno. Diane is determined to see her son and believes she can roam through Genoa City incognito. Once the women are inside the hotel room Phyllis shuts this down.

Meanwhile, downstairs Nikki walks over to Jack Abbott ( Peter Bergman ) and asks him what’s going on and for the identity of the seemingly unknown female she saw with Phyllis. Jack at first implies Nikki did not see Phyllis shoving anyone into the elevator and he tries to avoid giving her an answer. He realizes the jig is up and that Nikki deserved to know the truth.

Genoa City will be in an uproar

Jack tells a stunned Nikki that Diane faked her own death but Mrs. Newman does not believe it could be true. Jack explains the role thst Deacon Sharpe ( Sean Kanan) played in finding a corpse to replace Diane in the casket and Nikki expressed anger over the years she thought she was responsible for Diane’s death. Jack realizes there is only one way to settle this and he takes NIkki to Diane’s suite. Jack wanted Kyle to be the next person to learn the truth about his mother and he is unaware that his son and grandson are waiting for him at his house.

The more pressing issue is ending this present situation and allowing Nikki to see for herself that Diane is in fact living and breathing. Jack and Nikki go upstairs to the hotel room and Phyllis opens the door and then stands back. Diane and Nikki stare at each other in wide-eyed wonder and viewers could see that each woman is seething underneath the surface. There are sure to be fireworks between these two and Nikki will alert Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) that his crazy ex-wife has turned up in Genoa City.

Diane Jenkins has an agenda

Victor already has his hands full trying (to protect Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle) from Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) and now he will have Diane on the brain. Ms. Jenkins's agenda has not yet been made clear but she obviously is up to more than simply wanting to see Harrison and Kyle.

She now has both Phyllis and Nikki on her trail so things will become pretty interesting. Be on the lookout for updates on what happens next in Genoa City now that Nikki knows Diane is back. Be sure to tune in to The Young and the Restless each weekday afternoon to find out how all of this plays out. Spoilers tease that Nikki is really going to be outraged and go off on Diane so stay tuned.
