'The Young and the Restless' may have new hires while sidelining fan favorites

Spoilers from Soaps.com and Soap Dirt indicate that The Young and the Restless may be hiring new actors. the rumor mill says that Kristen Alfonso who was last on Days of Our Lives is in negotiations with the CBS daytime drama and Courtney Hope confirmed on her Instagram account that she will indeed be joining the people of Genoa City. In the meantime spoilers also suggest that Greg Rikaart,(Kevin) and Jordi Vilasusa, (Rey) might be written out of the show. On Friday, Lola, (Sasha Calle) and Theo, (Tyler Johnson) made statements which indicate they will be sticking around but fans still want to see more of their favorite veteran characters.

If Kevin is written out this means Chloe may be leaving town with him. Y&R viewers were excited about the upcoming birth of the couples son and some said they hope it would mean that Esther would be on hand more and that Gloria might return, Many viewers continue to complain on social media that they want more of Paul, Lauren, Chris, and Michael but for whatever reason, these characters have not been on screen. Last week Jack and Kyle mentioned MRs Fenmoe/Baldwin but she was never on camera. Josh Griffith was supposed to be bringing back the glory days of Genoa City, but so far his storylines have been a big disappointment.

Some viewers have expressed in Facebook groups that they are tired of Adam and Chelsea always being on screen. This, however may be about to change as spoilers suggest that Y&R may be headed in the direction of a Shadam reunion. There had been such a huge buidup when Adam first came back to town regarding a Chelsea return. When she did arrive she was already married to someone else, and acted as if she hated Conner's dad.The writers put Chelsea with Nick and by the time she was back together with Adam a number of viewers said it did not even matter anymore.

Sharon and Adam getting together is probably because Mark Grossman and Sharon Case are dating off screen. Soap Dirt and Soaps She Knows have teased that once these two hook up it will set off a chain reaction in Genoa City. Rey will be disgusted and leave town, while Nick and Chelsea will find solace in each other's arms. SSome viewers are tired of the enver ending war for who will run Newman Entrprises and others don't like that Billy and Victoria are broken up again. Fans were really angry when popular actor DanielGoddard, was let go and this is why fans have problems with the new hires.

Courtney Hope and Kristian Alfonso are excellent actresses but their joining The Young and the Restless may indicate that veteran actors will get the axe. A few years back Greg Rikaart's contract was terminated after a 14 yer run. he wa brought back for a few episodes, then rehired again after Mal Young was fired. In the beginning, he and Michael were being blackmailed by Adam and working on a plan along with Lauren to take the bad boy Newman down. Doug Davidson and Lauralee Bell were back on screen as well and things seemed promising. Without warning they were all kicked to the curb in spite of viewer complaints.

Kristen Alfonso and Courtney Hope will certainly add to The Young and the Restless, but fans don't want it to be at the expense of Elizabeth Hendrickson or Traci Bregman. The writers hda a lot fo time off during the hiatus and should have come up with creative ways to give better storylines to the veteran cast members but they returned with the same old Adam Newman drama. Viewers can only sit tight and wait to see how all of this plays out. There had been rumors around Christmas last year that both Josh Griffith and Jason Thompson were about to be fired. This was during the time of the gum chewing, Billy Abbott who was dealing with emotional issues. Thankfully the character was turned around but if Josh Griffith does not make the fans happy, he still could be out of a job in the future.
