Y&R viewer love the classic episodes

Soap Dirt is reporting that fans of The Young and the Restless are angry after watching the throw back episodes of the CBS daytime drama. It is not for the reason that you think. Viewers are comparing the older shows and have come to a startling conclusion. They overwhelmingly agree that today's programming is lacking in comparison with what was produced decades ago. During three flash back Friday's, Genoa City devotees saw the weddings of Nikki and Victor and Neil and Dru. There was also the honeymoon of Paul and Christine. During the week of April 27-May 1 the shows were dubbed Katherine the Great and were all about Katherine Chancellor. Viewers are enjoying the throw back programs but are angry at how the show has changed over the years.

Neil and Drucilla

Soap Dirt points out that although The Young and the Restless is the highest rated of the four remaining daytime dramas it may not stay there. The spoiler says some fans may not want to return to the new episodes after seeing how great the show used to be. Viewers are loving the classic episodes but it has only been three Fridays and one week. If the hiatus continues, fans may become bored and turn to NBC to watch Days of Our Lives which airs at 1:00 PM EST. Days tapes about eight months in advance so they are not in danger of running out of new material. Soap Dirt says the disastrous reign of Mal Young turned many longtime viewers away from the show. he focused on new characters, ignoring fan favorites and even taking some completely off screen.

Katherine Chancellor and Brock

There was high hopes for the show when Josh Griffith took over, but now fans are disappointed with his writing as well. Veteran characters like Michael, Kevin, Paul, Christine, Lauren, and Chloe are not involved in any major storylines and this is causing an uproar on social media. These talented actors were put in front of the camera right after Griffith took over, only to disappear again. The powers that be should take note of what the viewers want because without people watching, the show will be taken off the air. In this day and age of the internet, the viewing audience has power and are not afraid to go public with how they feel. This is the time, while there is no taping for the proper changes to be made.

For the week of May 5-9 The Young and the Restless will air classic episodes that are basically related to Victor and Nikki but other characters will be featured as well. On Monday, the show will be from October 31, 1981, when Nikki visits Victor’s ranch for the first time. On Tuesday, CBS will air the episode from August 17, 1987 where Nikki dreams of reuniting with Victor after Ashley is no longer in the picture. Phillip decides he desires a future with (Christine) Cricket On Wednesday, viewers will see a show that originally aired on June 2, 1990. Drucilla finds herself in big trouble, and Sheila distracts Scott away from Lauren. Nikki will take center stage at the Colonnade Room.

Jill and Katherine

On Thursday there will be a classic episode from April 14 1998 where Victor and Nikki cannot deny their attraction to each other. Nick and Sharon are having marital problems and Katherine makes trouble for Jill by interfering in her relationship with Keith Dennison. ( in a classic episode On Friday viewers will see yet another wedding between Victor and Nikki. This classic episode from September 5 2002 has the duo saying their vows at the Colonnade Room while Ashley has secret. I could be wrong, but I believe this is when she stole Victor's sperm and had herself impregnated with Abby, so stay tuned.

However you feel about past or current episodes, please let your voice be heard. Enjoy the classics and look forward to better days ahead.Viewers are the ratings and the powers that be should take the voice of the fans seriously. Perhaps the writers will re-access things during the down time and bring back the characters and the drama that fans enjoy that made Y&R number one in the first place. If it ain't broke there is no need to fix it. Continue to keep up with breaking news on social media and through spoiler alerts. Be on the lookout for updates as to when taping begins for new episodes of The Young and the Restless. Be patient this won't last forever.
