The Young and the Restless plays favorites

The Young and the Restless writers stunned fans by killing off Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) just when it looked like he might begin a relationship with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). This was just a setup for what was coming and some viewers felt like they were deceived. Truthfully Rey was actually long gone months before the fatal accident.

The writers kept him on the sidelines while his wife Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) dealt with her feelings for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and later as she began bonding with Nick Newman (Josh Morrow) and Noah Newman (Robert Gibson).. Vilasuso was never given a strong storyline and was always in the shadow of others.

Vilasuso was only on the CBS soap for 4 years and no one expected him to have an entire episode dedicated to his character as was done with Jeannie Cooper ( Katherine Chancellor) and Kristoff Saint John (Neil Winters). Some fans are saying it's a shame that he was written out period and also in such an abrupt manner.

Y&R spoilers and viewers were wrong

Y&R viewers were bracing for several spinoff storylines in the aftermath of the tragedy that might have been interesting. Ashland Locke Robert Newman) could have somehow set the accident in motion and began covering his tracks or he could have been hiding the fact that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was at fault.

Spoilers suggested that Vicki would cry on Billy Abbott's shoulder and they would bond over this tragedy. Villy can still grow closer but the accident and Rey' demise will not be a major factor. Viewers also thought perhaps Chelsea Lawson ( Melissa Claire Egan) and Conner Newman (Judah MaKey) would feel guilty and perhaps need therapy.

It was believed that Chelsea would use this to gain leverage with Adam and cause trouble for Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Spoilers had even suggested that Sharon would become unhinged and play the blame game. None of this is even viable now because Rey had a heart attack so "case closed."

So long Rey Rosales

The storylines that viewers expected to follow the accident might have led to some exciting moments but instead the end forDetective Rosales was nice and neat with no one to blame. The Young and the Restless gave him a heart attack which is no one's fault not even his own. Everyone moves on so send his body to Miami and forget about him. This brings to mind something Jason Canella ( ex Arturo Rosales) said in an interview a few years back.

At this time some viewers were angry that the Rosales clan was front and center in almost every episode. Eric Braeden made a comment on social media about the "newbies" taking the place of "Dougie" Davidson (Paul Williams." Canella responded by saying that the Rosales family was not going anywhere and now the entire clan has been erased from Genoa City.

Some fans were hoping there would be a proper service for Rey in Genoa City and that his family in Miami would attend. It would have been nice to see Arturo, Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez), Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle), Celeste Rosales (Eva Larue) and or Adrian Rosales (Jay Montalvo) return for the funeral. Instead, Rey's mother asked Sharon to send his body to Miami and she did.

To add insult to injury The Young and the Restless totally disrespected the popular character od Dective Rosales. Many fans could not understand why Rey became so close to Chelsea considering she poisoned him. Forgivness is one thing but spending time with Adam's ex-wife and son just did not seem right considering the dynamic between the men. Spoilers say that Sharon will have a small service in her home for her deceased spouse but fans say Detective Rosales deserved so much more.
