Geeking Out

  • Lauren and Gleb

The country singer and her pro danced a tango routine paying tribute to the rom-com Pretty Woman that earned 20 out of 30; a step-up from last week's numbers. The judges emphasized a few areas of her technique that need work, but were pleased with the performance aspect at the least.

  • Hanna and Alan

Bachelorette and Bersten performed a rumba to the romantic theme from the comedy Bridesmaids and earned 21 out of 30; two points down from last week and landing her outside the top three this week. The make-or-break must have been the want of hip action mentioned across the judges table. Carrie Ann was surprisingly booed for calling out an alleged excess of jazz elements in the dance.

  • Karamo and Jenna

Karamo and Jenna jived to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" as tribute to his recent biopic, Rocketman. They stood with 15 out of 30 by the end of the night, which is a bit lower than last week in both scores and leaderboard standings. Carrie Ann came right out saying the performance wasn't the greatest—and got booed again—for mistakes and being out of sync. Len and Bruno softened the critical blow saying that he was straightforward in the routine and still had great potential.

  • Ally and Sasha

The Fifth Harmony singer and Sasha danced a rumba to "Dreaming of You", a song from the nineties bio-drama, Selena. They earned 24 out of 30 this week, a leap of four points more than last week into a first-place tie. All the judges gave positive critiques for her performance, saying she put all of her heart and soul into the dance, and calling it an unapologetic, amazing rumba.

  • Ray and Sharna

Ray and Sharna would've cha-chaed to the "Twist and Shout" number from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but Ray was forced to the sidelines after a physician assessed his aggravated tendon problems in his feet that he sustained from injuries in the NFL. Season 24 champion and NFL runningback, Rashad Jennings filled in for their spot. Because of Ray's withdrawal this week, the bottom two of the night remained.

  • James and Emma

James and Emma danced a rumba to "Shallow", tributing last year's big hit, A Star is Born. They earned 23 out of 30, a score that situates them in a tie for third place's and is also James' personal best so far!

  • Kate and Pasha

Kate, The Office commedienne and her partner quickstepped to Dolly Parton's "Nine to Five" from the same-titled film. This was her personal best as well that situated her into first place this week!

  • Lamar and Peta

The big, tall Lakers basketballer and Peta performed a cha-cha routine set to "Old Time Rock'n'Roll" from Risky Business. The performance had character for sure, with Lamar attempting the iconic slide in a costume closely resembling the dress shirt and boxers! Len admitted it was fun but "the wheels had fallen off" at some point. Carrie Ann praised his growth in confidence and said he was more on-beat. They slid into 16 out of 30 points, which is a crawl up the leaderboard for them, but they were announced in the bottom two this week.

  • Sailor and Val

Supermodel Sailor and Val tangoed to the theme of Mamma Mia and earned 23 out of 30, stepping up significantly from last week into a second-place tie. Len called the performance fantastic and "full of snap, crackle, and pop." Bruno and Carrie Ann admitted to seeing Sailor's hard work and transformation show!

  • Kel and Witney

Kel and Witney channeled Titanic and performed a rumba to "My Heart Will Go On". They sailed into the evening with a 20 out of 30, but almost sunk being in the bottom two this week. Carrie Ann said he was solid, though had tight energy he needed to soften and channel.

  • Sean and Linsey

The white House press secretary and his partner performed a cha-cha dance to the Bee Gee's "Night Fever" from Saturday Night Fever. Their temperature was no better nor worse with another 15 out of 30 this week, but had some choice words from the judges critique! Len thought the routine was more "Monday Night lukewarm", and Bruno called it a "genius disaster blockbuster!" (Burn...)
