The Bold and the Beautiful celebrates 3 1/2 decades

The Bold and the Beautiful is an American televised daytime drama series that has aired on CBS since March 23, 1987. The soap will be celebrating 35 years in March and many milestones in 2022. B&B is broadcast in over 110 countries and has more than 45 broadcasters. This show was created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell as a sister soap to The Young and the Restless which was also the brainchild of the couple.

Their daughter Laura Lee Bell has portrayed Christine Cricket Blair Williams off and on The Young and the Restless since 1983. Son Bradley Bell began as a writer on the soap but now is the head writer and executive producer for The Bold and the Beautiful. For the past 30 years, since the early 1990s there is one thing that has made this show unique. The characters from B&B and Y&R have continued to cross over from one show to the other.

The Bold and the Beautiful beginning

B&B is set in Los Angeles, California, and centers upon the fashion world of the Forrester family and their dynasty Forrester Creations. John McCook as Eric Forrester and Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke Logan Forrester are the only two characters who have been with the series from the beginning. The pilot episode revolved around the wedding of the original Caroline Spencer ( Joanna Johnson) to Ridge Forrester (then Ron Moss).

The Bold and the Beautiful is the only one of the four remaining daytime drama series that is only 30 minutes long and according to the Guinness book of records, B&B has become the most-watched daytime drama in the world.

Eric and Brooke have been on B&B since day one.

The Bold and the Beautiful fun facts

Since 2010, the CBS soap has maintained the second-place position in weekly Nielsen Ratings for the four remaining daytime dramas and it could be in part due to an unfair advantage. The Bold and the Beautiful airs at 1:30 PM EST right behind The Young and the Restless which is the number one soap. General Hospital which is third has no competition as it airs at 2:00 PM. Days of Our Lives on NBC which is the lowest-rated soap is shown from 1:00-2:00 PM and competes with Y&R for its first half-hour and B&B during its final 30 minutes.

The Bold and the Beautiful has had three opening sequences and during the three and one half decades on the air and has filmed in 11 different exotic locations. B&B has been nominated for 11 consecutive Golden Nymph Awards and has won each time. The CBS soap is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as “The Most Popular Soap Opera-Current.

Bradley Bell

Bradley Bell facts

Bradley Bell, who is at the helm of The Bold and the Beautiful was born on June 29, 1964, is an eight-time Daytime Emmy Award winner for B&B and has been married to Colleen Bradley Bell since October 1991 and they have 4 children. The couple lives in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, California and there is an interesting fact that has been revealed about them. According to the Center for Investigative Reporting, Bradley and Colleen Bell are not environment-friendly as they use "at least 2 million" gallons of water every year just to irrigate their personal estate.

Bell has often come under fire for two specific reasons related to The Bold and the Beautiful. Fans say that he focuses on the same few characters for months at a time while excluding fan favorites that deserve airtime. Viewers also criticize Bell as head writer for having the same love triangles play out over and over for decades. Ridge Forrester, Brooke Logan, and Taylor Hayes are starting all over again to the disagreement of many fans. In spite of this Happy 35th anniversary to Brad Bell and the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful.

Brooke Logan is featured

One March 24 B&B will have a stand-alone episode where Brooke is thinking about all of her lovers. These include Nick Marone (Jack Wagoner), Eric, Thorne Forrester ( Winston Harmon), Dollar Bill Spencer, (Don Diamont), and current spouse Ridge (Now Thorsten Kaye). Be sure to tune in to watch this episode as the CBS daytime drama celebrates three and one-half decades on the air.
