'Scream Queens' Stars Offer Support To Billie Lourd After The Deaths Of Carrie Fisher And Debbie Reynolds

Just when you thought 2016 couldn't do anymore damage, the world of cinema was rocked with the death of Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher, followed almost immediately by her mother, Singin' in the Rain's Debbie Reynolds. As the screen icons have moved on, the media has now turned its attention to Fisher's only daughter in this time of tragedy. Billie Lourd, the 24-year-old Scream Queens star, lost her grandmother just one day after her mother passed away, and is sure to be inconsolable after the double tragedy. Thankfully there is a galaxy of stars who are lending their support to the young actress.

The family were very close, frequently photographed together as three generations of acting talent, while Reynolds lived downstairs in Lourd's house. As for her mother, Lourd and Fisher famously starred together in 2015 Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where Lourd sported a rather similar looking hairstyle — her Scream Queens performance sported some Princess Leia-esque ear warmers too!

A Tragic Time

Lourd most recently appeared in the second season of Scream Queens, which recently wrapped to dwindling ratings. However, the show had one major fan, with Lourd saying that her grandmother found Ryan Murphy's show hilarious. Speaking of which, Lourd's Scream Queens co-stars have poured out support, with Jamie Lee Curtis leading the pack:

Other castmates, including Lea Michele, Taylor Lautner, Ariana Grande, and Abigail Breslin sent their support to Lourd. Glen Powell, who played Chad Radwell on the show, said that Lourd "lost a mother, cheerleader, and best friend." Lourd's rumored boyfriend Lautner took to Instagram to call her one of the "strongest, most fearless individuals" he had ever met. However, it was Abigail Breslin who had the most heartwarming response as she thanked Fisher for creating Lourd, praising the actress for giving her her best friend.

However, the condolences weren't just limited to Lourd's co-stars. With Fisher and Reynolds each being icons of their time, their passing was always going to rock the media, made even more saddening by the timescale in which they both died. Other famous faces, including Patricia Arquette, Miley Cyrus, and Naomi Campbell offered their support.

While friends and family have asked the media to show respect at this time of mourning, Lourd's uncle, Todd Fisher, promised that his niece will be OK moving forward:

"As far as mom and I are concerned, she gets whatever she wants. There is a trust set up. But we're all pretty well off. This was her mother...We’re very proud of her. She's handling this with amazing strength. Obviously, we are all heartbroken. Everybody is doing their best to pull together, but it's just a shock."

It is thought that Reynolds had suffered a stroke while planning funeral arrangements for her daughter, but seemed at peace, stating she would soon be with Carrie.

For those worrying that Fisher's beloved French Bulldog Gary needs looking after, it looks like Lourd will also take care of the dog, who was also the apparent co-author of Carrie's book The Princess Diarist. We could also see one final goodbye, as both Lourd and Fisher will reportedly have much larger roles in Rian Johnson's upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII, and could they possibly share a scene together? The eighth Star Wars film will be a fitting tribute, and will see Fisher bow out as Princess Leia after 40 years.
