Meet Madame Co-CEO Nikki Newman

Those who watch The Young and the Restless may have noticed that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) has been in rare form during this past week. When she went to Society where she found out that Diane Jenkins ( Susan Walters ) was alive Nikki told Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) that she was at the hotel on Newman Enterprises business.

Nikki has also been getting more airtime, lately, dressing up and her hair has been more stylish. These were subtle differences that have taken place on random occasions over the years but this time there was a specific purpose. Victor Newman's (Eric Braeden) wife was being presented as more corporate but who could have predicted what was coming?

The Newman games begin

Nikki has also been a bit more full of herself lately and now we know why. On Monday Victoria Newman ( Amelia Heinle) offered her mother the Co-CEO position and after brief consideration she accepted. Vicki said her mom is the most qualified for the position but Y&R viewers have not really seen Nikki's boardroom skills.

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) was stunned to hear the news but should not have been surprised. Vicki has said that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has a soft spot/blind spot for her brother and she is jealous. Even s,o she attempted to convince her mother that this decision is in the best interest of the company and is not just about sticking it to her sibling

Victor Newman approves

Nikki expressed her concerns regarding how Victor would feel about the decision but she had no need to worry. Her husband was elated and referred to her as "my baby" and "Madame CEO ." Victor will be impressed that as Adam attempted to put his sister in check she gained checkmate. Victor loves to keep things a bit confusing and have everyone off guard.

He will consider his daughter's move a brilliant one but he will never give her the same level of admiration and respect that either of his sons would have received if they had done the same. This recent decision now places Nikki in the hot seat of being in the middle of Adam and Vicki's power plays. Victor will sit back and watch as all of this unfolds.

Meanwhile, there are Y&R viewers scratching their heads and saying they had no idea that Nikki was qualified to help run the family dynasty. She occasionally was involved but sharing the top spot is a whole new level. Nick Newman (Josh Morrow) will probably shake his head and be even more convinced that he made the right move by stepping away from it all.

The aftermath of Victoria's decision

Adam is not going to take this lying down and with the assistance of Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope ) he will no doubt be planning his next move. Nikki will probably walk around as Ms. high and mighty for a season but eventually, things will begin to crumble. Nikki admitted to Victoria that Adam has done a good job of running Newman Media and has proven himself as a family member.

Vicki shot down everything her mother said and now the two are business partners. In time, Adam will formulate a plan but he must be careful not to hurt his stepmom and incur his father's wrath. Be on the lookout for updates to this new wrinkle on The Young and the Restless and watch for spoilers to reveal what comes next for Adam and Victoria. Someone may leak to the press how Ashland duped Vicki and the board could vote to have her removed.
