Rami Malek @ the Bohemian Rhapsody preview

Stars: 5/5

Bohemian Rhapsody was released November 2nd 2018. It broke records by bringing in over $903 Million worldwide, becoming the sixth-highest grossing film of 2018 worldwide. The movie had a production budget of $50 million, so obviously by seeing how they did worldwide, I'd say it did alright.

My Opinion

Rami Malek has always been one of my favourite actors. I first saw him in Mr. Robot and absolutely loved how he portrayed his character. When I first heard he landed this role of a rock icon in a biographical film, I was so happy. I thought there is no one better to fill the role. I was right. Seeing Rami as Freddie made me have a whole new perspective and outlook on him. I had gained a new respect for Rami.

The film was portrayed in such a way, that I could not get enough of it. I was so proud of the whole cast and crew, they did an extraordinary job characterising Queen and close friends and family. I watched it as soon as I could after it's release, and bought it on DVD as soon as it was available. I have now watched it upwards of 10 times (no exaggeration) and will watch it again in a heartbeat.

Facts

Queen, for those of you who don't know, was formed in London in 1970. The band included Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. Compiled record sales are estimated from 170 million to 300 million records; making Queen one of the worlds best-selling music artists. Freddie saldy passed away in 1991 of Bronchopnemonia - a complication of AIDS. Deacon then retired in 1997. Roger Taylor was born on July 26th 1949 in England. Brian May was born on July 19th 1947 in England. John Deacon was born on August 19th 1951 in England.

Smile was a band that Brian May first founded in 1968, and Roger Taylor was the guitarist. Bohemian Rhapsody portrayed a scene where Smile was playing a song in a bar, whilst Freddie looked on. Therefore, foreshadowing what was to come; Freddie joining the band Smile, and bringing Queen to life.

In Conclusion

Bohemian Rhapsody is such an inspirational movie for me personally, and others. For myself, since I am interested in acting, I looked at is as an opportunity to learn from Rami and his techniques for such an important role. I told myself to never turn down a role no matter how big or small, that practice makes perfect, and I will do my best and put 100 % effort in either way. For others, I believe it's a movie based on a band most have listened to since childhood, resulting in high expectations and a new perspective on Queen. I am prepared to watch this movie many more times in my lifetime. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone, and if you haven't seen it, please check it out.
