Kyle and Summer

Actor Michael Mealor has reached a milestone on The Young and the Restless according to Soap Hub. He is celebrating two years of portraying spoiled rich kid Kyle Abbott, who is the son of Jack Abbott Diane Jenkins. The character was aged three times prior to Mealor taking over the role and none of the previous actors lasted very long. They all exited Y&R due to regime changes or based on direction of the storyline. Michael Mealor, has proven to have staying power and viewers love him. Those who enjoy the CBS daytime drama have noticed he has a striking resemblance to Peter Bregman, who portrays his television father. Since returning from New York, Kyle has gone through quite a transformation and the viewers seem to love him for it.

Kyle came back to Genoa City with a chip on his shoulder and an agenda for revenge against his dad. He immediately placed himself in the middle of the ongoing feud between Jack and Victor and failed at an attempt to take Jabot public. His next stunt was to launch a sunblock by the name of Birthday Suit and accidentally, on purpose lost his swim trunks while camera's were rolling. Kyle showing off his own birthday suit was a winner and led to a lot of publicity for the new product. When Summer Newman came back to town Kyle tried to woo her but she played mind games with him. When he gave up and began dating Lola, Summer decided she wanted him after all. She pulled a lot of stunts and when Lola was in need of an organ donor, Kyle married Summer to ensure Ms. Rosales would not die.

Viewers were puzzled as to why Kyle suggested this twisted arrangement and equally stunned when it was over so soon. Those who watch The Young and the Restless saw the chemistry between "Skyle" and thought they were in it for the long haul. The writers, however, had other plans. They literally switched horses,(wives) in the middle of the stream. Kyle abruptly dumped his new bride and rudely shoved her aside. He broke Summer's heart and later married Lola as if he and Ms. Newman had never happened. Although his former friend and new cousin Theo tried his best to stop the wedding, it went forth. Skyle kept finding themselves thrown together in spite of the marriage. There were two kisses, and an overnight business trip for Jabot.

Lola tried to ignore Summer who even gave her husband an intimate picture of when they were children. In the midst of all the drama, Kyle was doing a great job at Jabot, first as co COO with Lauren, the as Co-CEO with Jack. He and Summer reconnected and now he is in the middle of a divorce from Lola. In two years he has had two marriages and is working on his second divorce. His former best friend is attempting to stab him in the back and have him ousted from his family company. That's a lot to deal with in 24 months and here is what the actor had to say to his loyal fans about it:

"Over 300 episodes, 2 years, 2 marriages, 2 divorces, a few tears, a lot of shirtless scenes and 1 wardrobe malfunction later...Here. We. Are...my 2 year @YandR_CBS anniversary! Thank you to everybody involved and a special thank you to all of the fans! I love you forever!"

Lola lost out to Summer

Join Soap Hub and Michael Mealor’s loyal followers in wishing the actor a happy 2nd anniversary on the CBS daytime drama and many more to come! Based on recent spoiler alerts Kyle will have his hands full in coming weeks. He will be divorcing Lola, running Jabot, trying to keep Summer happy, dealing with Dina's declining health and watching his back against Theo. Perhaps Skyle will be the next generation Nictor. Like Victor and Nikki they endure a lot of challenges to their relationship, but come through them all. None of the second generation seems to have that staying power. Billy and Victoria's relationship has had a lot of ups and downs, and they have been married four times. Unfortunately things have become too toxic, and not even viewers are rooting for them.

The Young and the Restless airs weekday afternoons on CBS at 12:30 PM EST. Be sure, however, to check your local listings. Please be aware that there may be a possibility of scheduling delays. Production for the soap opera was shut down on March 17th because of the coronavirus. If the hiatus goes on past four to six weeks there will be no new episodes for viewers to watch. Reruns or other CBS programming will be shown. Be on the lookout for updated spoiler alerts and make sure you take all necessary precautions against the Covid-19 pandemic. Continue to practice social distancing and washing your hands. In time, hopefully, all of this will be behind us and the Genoa City drama will be right on schedule.
