Wondet Woman star Lynda Carter turned 70 on July 24, 2021 and is as beautiful as ever. The actress was born Lynda Jean Cordova Carter in 1951 and in addition to acting she has been a model, singer, songwriter and was Miss World USA in 1972. She was also in the top 15 in the Miss World contest after that same year. Once when asked about her iconic role Carter responded "I never meant to be a sexual object for anyone but my husband. I never thought a picture of my body would be tacked up in men's bathrooms. I hate men looking at me and thinking what they think. And I know what they think. They write and tell me.”

Carter’s 70th birthdate was bittersweet because thought she would be is sharing the occasion with her husband of close to 4 decades. Instead, she is lamenting the fact that he passed away this past February due to complications from surgery. The couple were married in 1984 and the actress tweeted that she did not see herself beginning her 7th decade in life without her spouse by her side.

The television icon finds herself in a situation similar to actor John Travolta who is acknowledging his difficulty on the first anniversary of the death of his wife Kelly Preston. Travolta's spouse passed away in 2020 after a two year battle with breast cancer. Had she lived the couple would have been celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this year. John Travolta said he hoped people would understand that he wanted to be alone. Coincidentally Lynda Carter and Kelly Preston co-started in the DISNEY film SKY HIGH which was released n July of 2005.

Those like Lynda Carter and John Travolta who have been side by side with a spouse through sickness and health good times and bad for decades have an added burden of adjusting to life alone. When you have lived with someone this long and faced life’s challenges as a team there is a bond that forms and draws you closer together over time. When the spouse dies you feel as if part of you is missing and that you are supposed to be where they are.

For couples who were joined at the hip a bond is forged that grows stronger as the decades go by. This is why older couples at times pass away within minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months of each other. This is a reason some woolen begin dating right away or marry within months of their souse dying. They are hurting so much they desperately need the void filled. When that bond is severed it feels as if your own heart has been ripped out. I know from experience because my husband of 40 years recently passed away.

In spite of her own grief Lynda Carter shared with her online followers that she understood that everyone had been dealing with losses during the past year. In true Wonder Woman fashion, she is still trying to save the world. Even so her fans are offering birthday wishes along with condolences because this is a difficult time for the actress.

Some well meaning individuals may try to encourage Lynda Carter by saying she should be glad she was able to have so many years with her husband. The heart that has been hit with separation by death is not processing that the marriage lasted longer than others did. Certainly, both Linda Carter and John Travolta have many wonderful memories of their spouses. This will not, however, stop them from feeling the pain of separation Best of luck to Lynda Carter as she maneuevers through the special occasions that once were shared with her spouse but now she must celebrate alone.
