I have no writing experience. My wife is the writer.

This is a gift to her. If I can do it, she can in her sleep.

Plus, I want her to see herself as the hero.

Editing or suggestions are always welcome :) Thank you very much for your time!

Ley – Chronicle of the Gods.

History is full of stories of war, loss, pain, sacrifice and victories. Most are wrong. Wrote by the victors. Erased from history are temples, towns, entire cities. Civilizations. Gone. Some lived it and do so over and over. They just don't know it.

This one began over 6,000 years ago. Well, for what matters in this story, you won't need to go any farther back... yet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NYC.

Any regular street. Early evening, the sun is getting low and casting that glow over New York that makes it look beautiful and instagramer's come out of the wood work filling the cities with people more interested in the little screen in their hand then the beauty around them. Cut off from each other by their own desire to live their lives. Like those people do on social media. That's what got him started.

He thought, why not? They did it. So can I. That was just over 2 years ago. It's working. The plan is working. Things are good for him and his family.

He was coming home from work. Mid 30's. Just over 6 foot tall. Nice suit, nothing special. Black suit on a blue button up. No tie, he can't stand them. When he has to wear one, it's almost ripped off the second he's able. His dark hair slightly tussled and blowing in the breeze gently.

Regular night stroll, nothing new for him. It had rained about an hour back. The water on the ground reflecting the high rise buildings and lights surrounding him as he walked past them. Even over the sounds of the city he can hear the distant rumble of thunder. Rain isn't done yet, he's almost home though.

He's walked this route for years now and enjoys it because he can zone out and think about the day. Today was a good day at work. Crypto slipped like an old time movie actor slipping on a banana peel, but his stocks were holding well. As he's walking thinking about his next move, he didn't see the workers on the sky-rise above him running cables.

As he strolled, 600ft above him, a worker slipped and pulled free the power line they were installing along the side of the sky-rise. As the line fell, the workers yelled out. He stopped and looked around, odd. He was sure he heard someone yell out... as he turned to continue, the line hit the ground just missing him. That is, except for the connector which was exposed. The line landed in the water he was walking through. The jolt sent him flying backwards into the alley he just passed with a snap of electricity loud enough to crack nearby windows.

A random act that would change everything. Or, more to the point, restore them to where they were.

He should have been dead. His brain should have been scrambled by the jolt, yet, he pulled himself to his feet. Leaning against the wall and staring down into the puddle below him. Not his face. Confusion and a fog clouded his mind. Almost as if he'd been working out getting light headed from standing to quickly and was slowly watching the puddle move into the distance but he wasn't moving. He felt his body moving yet he wasn't doing it. A voice in his head getting louder and more distant. As his vision slowly faded, he couldn't snap out of it. With a sudden deep breath that could more be described as a gasp, he was watching through his own eyes as if on a television screen. Another voice in the same head was now in control.

As he rose, it was no longer the man who was thinking about that next vacation he'd take when the market jumped. He was gone. He was consumed by the voice in his mind which pushed him to the back. His eyes seemed to now glow with an unearthly blue. Almost a mist that floated from his eyes. He now stood tall as if nothing had happened. He adjusted his suit with a curious look at his reflection in the mirror.

The rain had started again. A slight mist as if nature itself was working to calm him. It did the opposite. He had been mentally trapped in body after body for thousands of years. Watching mortal after mortal waste their lives on everything from drugs to war to their families. Only few ever stepped out of the normal day to day life that was dictated by someone else. That's over now.

“Far too long...” His voice slightly deeper, accented. Similar to modern Arabic yet flowed more like song. He shook his head as if to clear it. Things were coming back to him now. Like a broken damn, the waters of knowledge began to flow. He closed his eyes and soaked it in.

He has a name. He remembers now. What he needed to do. His purpose across time. Who he is.

A mortal once. He had watched for years since a child as the gods walked among them in ancient Egypt. He would be one of them. He spent his life getting closer to them. Following them everyday and watching their movements, listening to their words and even mimicking their stance as they looked upon the mortals. They were below them, they would be below him. Going so far as to convince Horus he was special by sneaking into the temples to learn the secrets of the priests. Horus nearly struck the insolent little whelp when he found him. Something stopped him. Not caring, not concern, something bigger.

Horus introduced him to Isis. Isis made him a god long before he ruled Egypt.

He remembers who he is, was, will be again.

Akhenaten.

He's been born, lived, and died a thousand times. For one of those lives, he ruled over Egypt. During that time, he formulated the plan.

He would rule this planet. Though not all agreed with his plan.

He was imprisoned by his own priests in the heart of the Egypt he ruled. Loved.

He was murdered after that by a jealous peasant in ancient, he thinks they called it Albion.

He was old with his kids around him when he passed after a farm accident in Southern Korea.

He was running across a battlefield with a childhood friend when the world of Germany exploded around him and then nothing. A world war spurred by a madman.

They all keep coming back to him.

He drifts through the memories from all those lives. Watching the pyramids be built. Wars on continents with names that no longer exist. Civilizations time has forgotten or lost. He thinks back to the loss, pain, suffering inflicted. As he comes to his current life, he thinks of all the wonders they've created which are being wasted. Technology to heal. Technology to improve. Inventions his family and friends even 100 years ago couldn't have imagined they would discover. Still missing what's right in front of them. Has been for millions of years.

People sleep in streets while mock gods sleep upon monuments to their own insecurities. Some continue to take their share and millions of others. Others try to help, he respects that but sees the futility. Its always been this way and he even allowed it during his time. Most need to be ruled. They can't exist without it. They crumble. He tried to help them see it...

The Aten heresy. He removed all record of the old gods or anything to show the old gods themselves. He had to do it. No choice. They would never understand.

The pain of that act showed clearly on his face. No time for that now.

Mock gods.

Time to show them the real thing.

Akhenatan, slowly raises from his hands to outstretched. His fingers flinch almost as if shocked. the tips glow almost blue. He slowly begins to lift off the ground, his toes tipping down. So many years since he felt this. Almost painful, he felt the energy flow through him.

He glances down at the suit he's wearing. “This won't work at all for a god. Kneel down before the Macy's sale suit guy doesn't cut it.”

As the mist surrounds him his suit seems to melt. Flowing around his body like mercury. It's color swirling and absorbing the mist causing it to reform. As the fibers start to reconnect, they form a mix of an ancient design of the cloth. The hieroglyphs that form across the cloth speak versus of his accomplishments. What looks to be a mix of the mist and suit now form into what looks to be a robe but not lose. Fitted to his form. As he floats it seems to move and shift around in it's color. Gold and Blue now.

“Now, that's better. Ah, yes. As always, fixing what they break...” Shaking his head while holding his right hand straight into the air over his head. His hand, fingers spread as if reaching for something just out of his reach. The mist of the rain was slowly replaced by a blue mist drifting out from his fingers pouring down over him onto the ground. The mist as it touched the ground seemed to be absorbed into the ground. It continued to flow while he focused his attention on drawing that power.

His head slightly dipped down as if relaxing, his hand still extended over his head. Feeling the energy cover him and connecting him to that same power.

Everywhere.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ley. The energy natural to this planet. As available as the suns energy and more powerful. The mist continued to grow.

Around the world, Ancient Egypt's Obelisks begin to reform. Ghostly blue floats around them all.

Tourists in Italy taking pictures to share watched and recorded as the Obelisks floated free from statues and shot into the sky. The Ley trailing like the smoke trail of a Saturn V rocket.

Other museum's around the world watched in horror as their displays shattered and either crashed through walls or ceilings to return home.

Everywhere around the planet. As they become whole, which took some extra time for many as they had been unceremoniously removed and added to private collections. As the Obelisks wake settling into their original places, the Ley surrounds them and begins to drift out with light blue tentacles.

Where it touches, plants seem to bloom new flowers. Grass appears a little greener. Water, a little clearer. As the Ley mist drifts out from the obelisks, it doesn't drift to far from their source. Staying closer, almost as if being restrained.

Far above the planet, the crew of the International Space Station watched on. Instead of weather patterns, the Ley energy flowing over the world seeming to flow towards one location. Egypt.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Now, to the prize.” as he was floating a meter off the ground.

As the obelisks were returning and rebuilding, Akhenaten opens a glowing white simple rectangular doorway. He floats through and he stands before the great pyramid of Giza. He floats to the ground once the obelisks are back in place. Shattered rock. Buried home. He flashes to running through the alleys of the buried cities as a child. Now, sand and rock. Gone.

Akhenaten's eyes begin to glow. The Ley drifts from his eyes continuing to surround him like a vortex or hurricane. Swirling and enveloping him.

His mind switched to him as a child standing in the alley of the ruins buried almost 30 meters below his feet. In his mind, he drifts back to his hand on the walls remembering the cold feel in the mornings of the stone. Akhenaten's hand raises almost to match his thoughts in front of the pyramids. The Ley mist drifts down around his arm, circling his hands. With a flash the ley erupts from his hands and surrounds the pyramids. Like a flowing river raging out of his hands and flowing towards and over the pyramids. Adding to the flow are the multiple nearby obelisks. The mist from those seems almost solid yet morphing around and flowing over whatever is in front of it.

They begin to reform as the obelisks had but with glowing writing running all over. Constantly moving, like a data stream. It was a flat sheet of limestone covering them as archaeologists had predicted, what they didn't know, how could they it was over 2000 years ago, was writing covered it in hieroglyphics from ground to almost the tip. Instructions. What god commanded. He was updating the words as they formed to reflect what he's learned over time. What they've been doing wrong.

What must be changed.

Around the planet the same mist shoots out connecting all obelisks to the Pyramids. Floating through the air to each other sometimes 100's of meters in the air, sometimes barely waist level to a human. The world was connecting again.

As the last connected to the great pyramid, a tone rings around the planet.

A low tone begins to hum everywhere around the world and even more loudly near the 3 great pyramids.

The city of his youth would rise. Be the hub of his new world.

The pyramids crackle with energy as 3 circles of ley surrounded and then erupted from the top of each in a beam directed at the area below. The flash blows away the sand covering the city. The sand was blown in all directions, most covering the city, some landing in Nile causing it to crash against the shores and cause fishermen to be thrown from their daily chores. The rest was blown out to the desert or covered Cairo and other nearby towns in inches of sand.

Once cleared, seeing the ruin his former childhood home had become, he decided it can wait. There were more pressing matters to attend to... namely, these people thinking they are mighty. He looked to the top of the great pyramid.

He closed his eyes as if focusing or straining. Hand outstretched, fingers pointed straight ahead, the Ley shot from his finger tips like a bolt of light striking the peak of the main pyramid.

A light flashes from the top of the great pyramid into the sky connecting to the satellites, Around the planet, TV's light up with the image of Akhenaten. Radios suddenly become quiet with dead air. Gradually a light static can be heard.

It starts as a whisper, slowly lifting to a vocal tone. Static becomes clear.

Akhenaten will speak.

Listen.

Obey.

The planet can hear him. They will obey.

"When i was imprisoned, this world was left to you. You've abused what you've been given. It is being returned to the original owner."

He pauses. He can hear screams, crying and angry yelling from nearby Cairo. They don't understand.

"I have waited lifetimes to return. Return the rightful order to this planet. Lead you humans into something more then ants crawling over and around each other and are gone in the blink of an eye. Help you achieve what i am. Help you learn that you were made to serve us yet can be more. You've called us many names. Jesus, Zeus, Allah, Annunaki...”

His image now lights up every display on earth. The image of the god in his flowing gold and blue robes that seems to be as alive as him. The video slowly moves towards his face. The glow of his eyes. The anger in his expression.

“...from the ancient Mayans to civilizations you walk over and don't even remember their names. I have walked as one of you. Trying to learn how to help... all it showed me was you must be led. Left to your own ways, this planet will be left in ruin."

A rumble, low and soft began to be felt around the world.

He shook his head "No. This ends."

"You will call me Akhenaten and know one thing. I am your god. Obey."

He said what was needed, time to continue. Every video feed goes to the image of him floating above the pyramids.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chaos. A newsroom in a local station in Greece tried to understand what is happening like the rest of the world. Everyone had their theory. Military discussing mobilizing. Groups already lining up as if in a trek to mecca. People yelling, some fighting. Others staring with either horror or awe at the sight on every screen. In the middle of all this, one person was listening intently.

She's about 5'4. Bright Red hair people pay good money to get a color like hers. The one you see and make that joke to yourself about stealing souls. Cute glasses a little too big for her face. Her rings and necklaces show her love for all things ancient. Tattoos of symbols from dead civilizations. Some not so much but she liked the look anyway. Hair always pulled back into a bun or ponytail.

She's been looking for a new project in Greece around the Minoans and the 100s of documents and pictures on her desk would make any archaeologist proud or jealous of the knowledge. That all just went poof.

Half-way through his speech she's got her phone in her hand face timing her husband at the university of Cairo.

As the other side picks up, they both say it at the exact same time. "As you seeing this?!?!?"

He's 6'2. Italian. About 210lbs with a short beard and shaved head. His style is so contradictory to his wife. He likes classy, clean, nice. Hers is more sexy librarian. She pulls it off, he's still working on it.

He's been working with local guides researching new LIDAR data that showed cities buried around the pyramids. Ancient sites that could even pre-date them. He has been working with them to secure funding and was currently trying to talk a young crypto millionaire into investing in the dig. As the video feeds cut all around them in the cafe, silence settled in.

Two words into the guy on screens speech and he was already trying to get his phone out of his pocket fumbling it so bad it almost flew across the cafe. The young crypto guy was staring blankly at the screen.

She's got to know this is going on right? His phone rings.

"Did you hear what he said? Imprisoned? Called it "us". Maybe there are more. Remember that professor we worked with last year in Cairo?” plugging her ear to try and hear him over the newsrooms roar of cries, screams and yelling.

She quickly stood and ran from the room to continue the conversation in a nearby conference room.

He replies of course he had lunch with him last week. “Oded, he's been helping with consulting on the ruins we found.”

She talks about how he had an idea from a scroll that had conveniently dissappeared during looting years back. That the gods were actual beings that truly walked the planet. They were capable of miracles. How John agreed but Valerie just called John a conspiracy lover.

He laughs and tells her he tried to talk about it then too.

Valerie continues. “What if he was right? What if there are more? Are they like him? Which god would be the best to actually look for here?”

“HEY!” John almost yells “Yo, hold on. Breathe. One giant leap into the past at a time...”

He tells her to hold on and 3-way and calls the professor. He picks up on video call. Smiling like a kid in a candy store.

From the screen he nearly yells "I TOLD YOU!"

His face almost pressed against the phones camera to the point you could almost see tears in his eyes. His words match his expression. Nearly screaming repeatedly “I told you!” over and over.

“Yes, but now what?” Valerie says.

"Well, i have an idea, but i'll need your help Valerie and John". Oded smiling pointing at the camera.

Oded continues "Can you meet me? Next to the Cairo tower on the Nile." John nods and says he's on his way. Oded says to Valerie "can you get to Egypt?" She says yes, she's in Greece working and can be there in a couple hours. She's already on her way.

As the lines cut away, all 3's eyes turn to the image of the new god, or old depending on your viewpoint, floating above the pyramids on screens everywhere around them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oded begins walking from the building he has been living in for some time. A modest home in Cairo. His finds from the past have let him live comfortably. He looks towards the pyramids and the blue glow now everywhere giving the world an unreal look.

He stands on his front doorstep looking towards the pyramids. A bright blue glow illuminates the entire area around Cairo. While he can't see them from there, he understands it's only a matter of time before he'll be standing before them.

Time to see if he was right. No.

Prove it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Arriving in front of the Tower from a cab, John arrives. He hears alarms and sirens blaring from across the Nile at the museum. He finds Oded standing at the rail looking across the Nile to the museum. The sand blown away from the ruins covered everything in a layer of sand.

He looks over the scene before speaking. Police. Firetrucks. Name an emergency service and they're there. That's the countries history. Seeing enough, he looks to Oded. A large crowd had gathered watching the event unfold.

"What happened?" John points across the Nile as he approaches.

"Had to grab something, come with me," He pats the leather shoulder bag at his side and leads John into the tower. It's late and no one is around. Oded has clearly already broken the lock as they stride in.

“Wait, whoa, pump the brakes.” John stops short of going inside. “Won't they be here soon? You know, alarms and all that?”

Oded chuckles “Please, the nations history is being threatened... A tourist monument is fairly far down the list of concerns at the moment.” continuing inside and continuing his speech.

Oded continues while striding into the tower as if he owns it.

"While i was young i was part of a dig to fix the foundation of a building here in Cairo. During that dig, there was a collapse and I was trapped. I was there for hours, i wasn't sure if they'd even find me. While trapped, in the dark, thinking this was the end, i saw a light blue mist drifting towards his hands. very faint. I wasn't even sure if it was real. I reached out my hand to touch the light. As it touched my fingers I had a flash like a memory. Standing above where the great pyramid now stands with the Nile and cities below. Vast expanses of palms, grass and homes of my people. I was floating, that mist glowing brightly from my hands."

He pauses to take a breath closes his eyes. Remembering.

"A light flashed in the dark as a rescue crew removed rubble. I flashed back to being trapped. The mist was gone, but i remembered. I've spent my entire life trying to find out what that was that day.” he says almost finishing the last piece under his breath.

“Roughly 4 years ago a construction crew renovating that same building for some gaudy hotel and found a small chamber. Only one thing was inside. A box, sealed. Xrays showed it was empty. The condition of the box meant that they couldn't open it without destroying it. So, it's sat since on display. Across the Nile. At the museum.” Oded smiles and taps the box.

"Wait, hold on." John says. "If it's in such bad shape how are you carrying it like a lunch box?"

"Exactly. Good! You ask good questions. It's not in any condition that would cause it to degrade. The wood is sealed in a natron like substance that's made it hard as stone. They simply didn't want to say anything because that would mean admitting they don't know nor could explain. in any scientific way."

John continues "But you said the xrays showed it was empty?"

Oded sighs. "Sometimes, waiting to open your mouth is the best option." He smiles and opens the box.

As Oded lifts the lid, John looks inside, there's a glowing pendant in the box. It glows with a light blue mist like he saw. Like what's around the pyramids.

"So, what's the plan. Break it?" John says smiling. Sheepishly hiding the brass candelabra he picked up nearby behind his back. “Will that mist hurt us?”

Sarcastically as he could muster... "Honestly? It's a pendant on a chain. Lets try putting it on. Also, I believe they used to refer to this energy as Ley."

“Like Ley lines?” John asks watching Oded lift the pendant over his head.

With a deep breath he's building up to since that day many years ago “Let's see what secrets you've been hiding shall we?”

As Oded lifts it out of the box ignoring John's question, the ley mist begins to float out from the pendant. As it drifts out, it slowly wraps around Odeds hands, down to his arm, around his torso engulfing him in the blue glow. The Ley mist covers his legs then his head last. As the mist covered Oded's face, John saw what made him take a step back. Oded's eyes. They were glowing like the creepy wannabe god guy above the pyramids.

"Well, this is new..." Oded says watching the mist curl around his arm.

“Rut ro...” John says slowly stepping behind a pillar.

John asks if he's ok. No response.

As the mist finishes surrounding him, Oded drops to the ground. He slowly stands and lifts his head. Eyes glowing bright blue like the Ley... Unlike creepy god guy, the mist around him seems more calming, peaceful.

"I am now." His voice deeper, the accent shifted slightly somehow. Somehow out of time it didn't belong. "Please, no longer call me Oded."

John takes a step back "ok... so then, who am i talking to now?" Still grasping the candelabra.

His eyes flash bright blue. With a smile that could only be described revenge, he answered simply...

"Osiris"

While Akhenaten's clothes took on queue's from old and new, Osiris was clearly more with the times. With the mist gone from around him, John could see Oded, Osiris, the magically guy in front of him changes clothes. He was in a simple suit before of tan colors. Now, still tan but lined with light blue and gold highlights. The material just like Akhenatens, smoother then silk and looks like water flowing.

John's mouth fell open. Osris floats on the mist as they had seen Akhenaten float. His hand slowly extends and closes John's mouth.

"John, i need your assistance. My family has been destroyed, tricked and abandoned. They float as i have with your people for longer then you understand. The pendant was a security measure we created if treachery was near during our plan." staring straight at John.

John stares at the pendant “Plan? “

Osiris shifts "well..."

Osiris loudly, belly laughs. "It was foolishly naive. We fell victim to one of our own, Akhenaten. He convinced us all of the need to allow humankind to progress without their interference. We needed to die. For a time. Akhenaten used our technology to create a soul loop as you might call it. When we died, we would be reborn into a new body from birth to live as a human. We would be born, live, die over and over. We would learn to live as every kind of human and understand them. Their compassion for each other. Their constant need to please. We hoped you would focus on yourselves. Learn. Grow. Evolve as we did." Osiris says lowering his head.

"Guess it didn't work huh?" John shoots him finger guns.

Osiris shakes his head "No, actually. It worked very well. Exactly as planned. Which is where we were tricked. Akhenaten, being the one who put the technology together, said he needed to go last to ensure all went to plan. We trusted him. We were naive. He added the piece that crippled us. We wouldn't remember who were were. Complete reincarnation was the goal, he blocked the most important piece. That's why the pendant can clear the block. It's made of the same Ley used to reincarnate us."

Osiris takes a deep breath then continues. "Once we were all dispatched, Through the thoughts of my lives...” He makes a swirling motion near his temple with his hand. “...i see Akhenaten changed to his real plan. He would take over and rule the planet. Across the globe overnight he became god to one civilization after another. He built the obelisks around the planet to connect them under his rule. We only used the ones here to provide help. Lifting heavy rocks. Healing injured people, with some limits. He abused the power and used it to punish. Obey or...." Osiris points towards the pyramids.

John laughs "Come on man, seriously?"

Osiris touches John's forehead with a finger. He instantly sees the ritual to make it happen progress. Osiris was last to go before Akhenaten.

All the gods sat in a circle. Except Akhenaten. He stood in the center of the ring with his hands extended. No one else was allowed in, not even their closest priests. Slowly one by one the Ley mist lifted from his fingers slowly engulfing each god. As the mist touched their forehead, they slumped to the ground looking as though they were asleep. Dead, but there was no sign of pain. As it approached Osiris, him being last, he saw the look on Akhenaten face.

Victory.

Before Osiris could react the mist touched his forehead.

John comes back with a scream. He falls back on his ass and starts to slide back from Osiris.

Osiris responds "Yes, that was about my thoughts as well. Before we completed the ritual, Isis built a back up plan."

John wide eyed almost yells "WAIT! Isis is real?" Had his eyes gotten any larger, they have popped out of John's head.

Osiris looks down on John with a raised eyebrow. "You say to the god standing before you? Now, as i was saying. She created this pendant. It can remove the Ley we use from things. Obelisks mainly, but if our tech was used as we did... in humans." Osiris taps the pendant hanging from his chest lightly.

“We will use this to find her and the others.” Osiris says with a glance to John.

John throws him arms to the side "So, we walk down the street, point this at random people and hope the blue wiggly thing pops out again?"

Osiris chuckles "While that would be amusing to watch, we are short on time. It'll be another day at least before Akhenaten has the entire system back online globally. With the aid of the pendant, i can find the others. Come, lets collect your friend then head to find the next. While i cannot know who we will find, i can only assure it will be one of us."

John nods "Ok, lets go, but explain how. Also, hold on. Is Oded... gone?”

As Osiris begins walking for the door, he says "it's not long a drive. No, Oded and I are one now.”

John stops walking "Wait, cant you do some wiggle finger stuff and pop us there?"

Osiris keeps walking saying "I could, but you'd come out the other end a puddle of goo".

John nods “Nuff said”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They find Valerie in downtown Cairo. Akhenaten is still drawing power. Governments are climbing over themselves with the best way to handle this. Everyone has the right answer. Every news station, social media and human was watching Egypt in some way. Every TV they see has video of Akhenaten floating. Obelisks lighting up around the world.

John and Osiris arrive via car to the location Osiris provided to Valerie. John embraces Valerie. “Glad you are safe.” John says holding her by the shoulders kissing her forehead over and over. She smiles and says "You think I'd miss this?!?!"

She holds out her hand to, who she thinks, is Oded.

Osiris simply smiled and looked to John.

John looks to Valerie "I'll explain but... hey, wait Osiris, where are you going?" As Osiris began walking away, a small white door opens and he steps through.

Valerie stares at John "What the actual freaking hell is going on?

John sighs "Ok. Lets grab coffee."

-------------------------------------------------------------

Osiris emerges from the doorway outside a small thatched bamboo home. Jungle stands tall around the home. A thin line of smoke drifts from the fire out front. As Osiris approaches the home, a man comes out, yelling in another language. wielding a machete. Osiris grins "Some things never change" and waves his hand. The blue mist instantly wraps around the machete and it disappears.

"I come only to assist. I mean no harm." Osiris says with his calmest voice. The pendant glows bright blue, almost seeming to pull from Osiris' chest. Not towards the man, but the home. Peaking out from the home was a mother and daughter. As Osiris stepped out, the man moved to be in-between.

Osiris pauses. That. There. Why?

His thoughts drift back. That was the reason we did what we did. Why we were tricked. Trying to understand why humans, knowing they will die, will stand before a god and take that chance. Squander their short lives for... what? Another life with no chance or extending thiers.

Before Osiris can react, the daughter runs out from the home. The mother quickly runs out but the little girl reaches her father before the mom can get her. All 3 stand before Osiris now.

Osiris smiles, leans towards the daughter. The pendant pulls away.

Towards the mother.

Here in this little hut, middle of a jungle in what he remembers to be, he thinks, Thailand. An energy that can only be one being. One being who draws this power naturally.

Osiris smiles and hands the pendant to the mother. She extends her hand, nervously at first. As her hand draws closer it's almost as if she remembers it's hers. She made it. She'll be the one who will save everyone.

Isis.

The glow lifts her gently off the ground. Neither the daughter nor father flee or scream out. The Ley caresses their cheeks and seems to make them smile. The ley seems to flow from the pendant and the forest around the hut. As if nature was lending itself to this cause.

As the glow envelops Isis, she slowly descends to the ground. Now fully clothed in the garb of the queen of gods. A flowing golden and white robe. The mist floats through the cloth continuously as opposed to Osiris or Akhenaten where it stopped once completed.

"Osiris..." she says. "It seems as though our concern have been justified?" Her voice melodic, flowing, soothing.

"Yes, and now he runs wild." Osiris replied with sadness.

"I see. Here." She hands the pendant to Osiris.

"Go, return to Cairo, I'll find the others, I won't need the pendant to locate my family. I'll be along soon." Isis slowly steps back from Osiris.

With a nod, Osiris opens another doorway and steps through. Isis slowly turns towards her "family".

"We have much to discuss." she says with a smile and walks them back into the hut.

-------------------------------------

Osiris steps back through to a street in Cairo. There sitting at the table drinking coffee is Valerie and John.

The streets are mostly empty. Governments have told people to stay inside just in case. Of course locals were flocking to the pyramids in the hopes of bowing before the new, or rather old, god.

Valerie spots him first. "HEY, Osiris! Over here!" Waving like a kid trying to get their parent's attention.

John whisper screams "What in the hell are you doing?!?! You can't yell that out."

Valerie chuckles "Why not? Who the freak would actually think Osiris is walking down the street towards a cafe in downtown Cairo?" she replies throwing her arms wide.

"Like the big blue glowy guy floating over there?" John points over his shoulder with a thumb towards the pyramids whose glow you can see from anywhere in Egypt now.

Osiris approaches "Yes, his power grows quickly. We are with luck though. The first i found was Isis. She will track everyone down faster. She'll be along shortly. Then we go." Osiris turns to walk away.

Valerie with a look of surprise standing almost screams "What do we do in the meantime? Keep drinking coffee waiting for the world to end because the guy with the worlds biggest inferiority complex needs to show off?"

John spits his coffee across the table awkwardly trying to wipe it up with his sleeve.

Osiris stops and slowly turns back.

"Allow me to be clear Valerie. We are gods.” His eyes flashing a dangerous blue. “We've ruled this planet from before written time. To us, you are what you might call... pets. While we may not speak well of each other, do not think that extends to you." turning to walk away.

Valerie's fiery red hair almost erupts as she shouts "HEY! You're the ones who left. You're the ones who showed us a way and said good luck. You put in our heads we could be like you. We tried, and failed. Hard. You're the ones who ran. We had to live through it."

A look of confusion comes over Osiris face...

With a flash, Osiris is standing before Valerie.

"You weren't alone. We were living it as well." Osiris steps back and lets out a deep breath. "Though you are still correct. We should never have allowed this. We let him, we... it doesn't matter. We have to fix this."

Osiris raises a hand toward Valerie "Take John to the Pyramid of Djoser. On the south facing side, when you arrive you'll find the door waiting for you. You need to go inside and retrieve the key to our plans." as he starts to walk away again.

Valerie again yells "Wait, us?!?!"

John puts his palms over his face as if to say "COME ON, ITS A GOD!"

Osiris sighs still facing away. "Yes, you. The pyramid is protected. We cannot enter. Inside you'll find a dagger. This dagger is the only thing that can kill us. It's metal is not from this planet."

John perks up and jumps to answer "Like Tut's dagger? Made from a meteorite, right?"

Osiris opens a doorway smiling "Somewhat. That was my dagger. Head to the pyramid, I'll open the door and return shortly." He steps through the doorway and it snap shut behind him.

Valerie and John make the drive to the pyramid. A soft blue glow surrounds the smaller pyramid and most of the area like a fog. As Valerie and John approach, a soft blue road of glowing Ley mist guides them to the doorway. As they stand before it, nothing happens.

They have a much better view of Akhenaten from here. The mist is almost like a flowing water now splashing and crashing against the sides of the pyramids.

Valerie stares at the pyramid of Djoser now restored "Yup, knew it wouldn't be easy."

John takes Valerie by the arm gently "Come on, Osiris said we could get in, there has to be a way."

On the door, many hieroglyph's show but a small grouping in the center surrounded by a circle grabs Valerie's attention. She doesn't know why. She slowly lifts her hand to the glyphs. The mist flows out and around her hand. For a second, it flashes a bright purple line through the mist with tints of green. She seems entranced.

John shouts "Valerie!!" He reaches up and grabs her hand against the door to pull it away. The glow envelops his hand as well adding a golden strand. With a resounding bell that echoed across the valley, the door slides open. Valerie and John stand there staring at each other like what just happened.

Valerie still staring in disbelief "Ok, no clue. Lets figured that out later. Where's the dagger?"

As Valerie goes to step inside, John grabs her wrist.

John shrugs and says "Uhm, hello? Ancient pyramid? Traps. Death."

Valerie laughs "You've watched to much sci-fi"

“Ahem, weren't you on the couch next to me during college?” They both spent years studying ancient lore. The difficult challenges of erased history. They gobbled it up and lived on Scifi TV shows and movies. They were about to head to Southern Greece when the god of psychopaths decided to show up.

She was right. No traps were needed. The pyramid was safe for them. As they walked the glyph lined halls they noticed the old writing had returned. From their limited studies, Valerie explained Akhenaten imprisoning his family... but, it makes it sound like he had to do it. She shakes her head.

Valerie frowns "This makes no sense. It says he saved them from..."

John cuts her off and points.

John exclaims "The dagger!"

Atop a small pedestal floating in a field of the mist is the dagger.

Valerie stops "Wait, hold on. Isn't that supposed to be in the museum?"

John shrugs "Maybe that one is a fake?"

Valerie tilts her head knowingly "Have a feeling Osiris left more out?"

John holds his arms out to his sides nodding "Uh, duh?"

They both walk up to the pedestal. Valerie reaches for the dagger. Again like the door as her hand enters the blue mist, a purple mist flows from her hands with the slight green tints brighter now. The dagger won't move though.

Valerie pulls "It won't budge."

John pauses "Hold on, maybe it's like the door."

John places his hand in the bubble and places it over Valerie's hand on the dagger..

The blue, purple swirling mist around the dagger adds another string of gold that emanates from John's hand.

They both look to each other with a shrug. As the light gets brighter, they can only push their heads closer together and wait to see what happens.

As they place their hands on the dagger, the tone sounds again. This time though, it was more alarm like. More menacing. The dagger is free, the gods are vulnerable.

As the dagger comes free, they both fall backwards to the ground. Valerie unceremoniously landing on top of John.

“Well, that wasn't so bad...” She says smiling holding up the dagger.

-------------------------

Floating atop the pyramid, Akhenaten feels the tone. Knows what has happened. He cannot stop now, he's almost complete. He'll deal with whoever was ignorant enough to steal the dagger later.

-------------------------

As they step out of the pyramid, Osiris stands with a waving arm.

Osiris is beaming "Excellent work! I know you could get it!"

Valerie stomps out nearly yelling "What was with the mist? It changed colors when we touched it."

John leans against the door of the pyramids. He knows what's coming. He's been on the end of that voice. Many times. He wishes Osiris luck under his breath.

Osiris chuckles to himself "Did it?" He says with a wry grin. "Well, we'll have to look into that... later..."

Valerie nods and replies "So you know what..."

Isis slowly walks by Valerie, in between her and Osiris. As she looks to Valerie, she pauses. Almost wanting to ask a question, but deciding against it. She smiles and continues, letting them finish speaking.

Osiris continues "...Akhenaten will have sensed this. We must leave." Osiris points to the dagger held in Valerie's outstretched hand. "Keep it. I have a feeling you'll need it. Very soon."

As Osiris finishes, a Bright white doorway opens behind him. Out steps Isis. Then another door. Horus. Anubis, Thoth. The human Anubis and Thoth embodied even resembled their Egyptian images. Anubis with a long jaw and Thoth with a nose that no other being could have. Another and another. Isis found them. All of them.

Isis stands before Osiris "is it time we put our troublesome child to sleep?" The gods returned formed a circle around Isis, Osiris, Valerie and John.

Osiris lowers his head "Yes, to the great pyramid."

Isis waves her hands and a flow of mist like a smooth flowing river forms under everyone's feet and begins to carry them towards the pyramid at an incredible speed.

Valerie having trouble believing what she's seeing looks over to John. He's pretending to ride the wave like a surfboard while trying to get the attention of who Valerie is sure is Anubis.

John catches Valerie looking at him.

She has to slightly yell over the roar of the wind... "Seriously?"

John holds his hands up "What? If i take this seriously I'm gonna snap. This is all i got. Roll with it."

Valerie shakes her head and loving refers to him as "idiot".

While the scene with Valerie and John played out, Isis watched on.

She misses that. Before everything started. There was something more then just that. Her.

She watched Valerie face turn back towards the pyramids from John, her face grew with a smile she could only describe as joy. A combination of that feeling and as she now noticed, the Ley was flowing over her cheeks like cloth carved into alabaster. Not flowing over... being, drawn in? As it touched her cheeks, it almost splashed as if truly water. As the Ley splashed away like a fog, faint wisps of purple flowed no more then hair a hair thick and just for a quick second here and there then were gone.

Isis raised her hand towards Valerie riding along the ley current to her right about 10 meters away. The Ley began to, slowly at first, drift around her fingers like the finest silk woven thinner then the wind. It slowly built up an drew on the ley below them. With a slight jolt, Valerie's ley wave carried her towards Isis.

It took a second or two for Valerie to realize she was drifting towards Isis. Immediate panic. Not fear. Isis. Her. She's read so much. What should she say? Ask, Smile, Finger-guns? Isis saved her the pain.

“I'll let you ask a question, then my turn. Deal?” Isis said with a chuckle. Isis drew her hand down as to invite Valerie to sit next to her. As valerie looked down, double layers of Ley began to pile on top of the current Ley. Rolling over each other allowing Isis to sit with the top wave supporting her upper back. Valerie sat expecting any second to fall straight through. Giant marshmellow? Yup, best description Valerie thought and giggled a little, smiling.

“Come now, Valerie. You cant just do that and not share?” Isis tilts her head back as if jokingly hurt.

Valerie's jaw now firmly in her lap quickly composes herself laughing. “No, it's just that this feels like siting on marshmellows.” shrugging her shoulders as if expecting Isis to drop her.

She sits forward in a flash and is almost a foot from Valeries face. Valerie's eye may have actually left her skull had Isis not been so close. Before Valerie could react, Isis whispered to her “I would die for some Smore's right now!” Smiling and leaning back laughing. She wanted her to know she doesn't lose herself. You simply learn and grow.

Valerie is, to this day, one-hundred percent sure you could see her heart beating through her shirt.

“Ok, then. You go first. Ask away.” Isis says smiling as if being, well, interviewed. Even going so far as to pose on the end of the couch like it was live on one of those big tv sunday evening shows.

“S'mores? Really? Ancient Egyptian Goddess. S'mores. Nope, not seeing it.” Valerie said leaning back smiling.

“So then, if I understand you. When did things begin?” Isis leaning forward raising an eyebrow nodding slowly. Who was being interviewed Valerie wondered. The smile breaking the serious look showed Valerie that Isis is trying to help her relax. Valerie realized she had her hands almost knotted together with the fingers intertwined to a point almost painful.

Valerie smiled. She's funny. “Yes, that one please?” Her fingers loosened.

Isis looked up to the pyramids still in the distance as if gauging time. “In an effort to save time, I won't start too far before S'mores.” Isis leaned back in her seat holding out her hand as if welcoming Valerie to get comfortable.

“How we got here is not worth our time now. When we got here, the same. What we came to do, that's where we all had different ideas.” Isis said with a lower tone as if she was remembering who she actual is again. “The lands we came to be in, we brought our teachings. Some took more direct approaches, others simply watched. The intent was to show beings of a planet with this energy how to use it.” Isis seemed pained at the thoughts.

A slight shake of her head and she continued speaking. “Let me jump ahead. Egypt. 6,000 years ago.”

“Wait, if you jump to 6,000 years ago... how far back did you... show up, be born, magically step off the spaceship?” Yup. That's what instant regret feels like instantly popped into her head. Her face grimaced.

Isis simply smiled and continued. “We slowly began to live with the people. Different names, even faces. We could us the energy, though dangerous if overused, to change. Right down to age.” Valerie notices she didn't answer and knows John will loves this.

Isis' head turns toward the now approaching pyramids. Valerie looks over to where John is, was. He seems to have drifted below the two of them and there is John and Osiris speaking with a couple other gods. Whatever they are discussing they all seem to enjoy but she can't hear them this far away over the wind.

Valerie seeming to comprehend what she was saying, simply waited for more.

“Last year, if I remember correctly, I turned 8,291. We tried, it doesn't fit on a cake.” Isis said smiling seeming to enjoy Valerie's face mouthing “Holy shit”.

“Here's the thing. We lost control of it. What we brought, failed. We had to improvise.” Isis said standing. The ley flowing through her hair like water. Taking a slight step towards the pyramids.

Valerie held a hand up.

Isis looked down over her shoulder towards Valerie. “Failed? What failed?”

“Excellent question. Shortest version possible, we can use energy from many things. It's loose now, but the pyramids will bring it back.” She waived her hand out towards the pyramids as if to highlight the ley flowing around the pyramids. “Some believe in the Ley there are...” She holds her hands out to the sides palms up almost mockingly “greater beings”.

The irony is apparent on Valeries face. Isis laughs “Not now, later.” Again, John's head would explode if he heard this.

“The failure, was allowing him to learn things he wasn't ready for yet. I rushed it. Trying to harness that energy directly? It would shatter even us.” Holding her hands out to the side letting the ley drift through it. “I thought he... might.”

“After we were asleep...” Isis, again lowering her head. “...all they could do was stop it's use completely. They tried to reverse it but the damage was done. Time did it's work from there. Once he rebuilds those, he'll continue what he started.” her eyes slightly flashing with the Ley. The wave seems to have a pulse go through it flowing out behind them down the wave.

“They help focus it. Some are better then others...” motioning towards herself “but all can. We trained some humans through time. Roughly a handful of times. The process is long and has an enormous drain on the planet. Takes years to repair.” Her head, not hanging as if defeated, but watching the ground moving below them through the Ley.

Valerie hadn't taken a breath since she started. At least she felt that way.

Only her eyes lifted from the ground. Towards and focused on Akhenaten in the distance.

“He was my choice. Yes, he was brought to me, but the choice was mine. We'd make him one of us.” Her tone was melodic, but the end of the statement was an entire chorus being silenced.

Valerie understanding had both her hands over her face.

“Things were working. They were advancing slowly, as planned. Well, as we, planned. The others were attempting their own improvements to their decided areas and peoples. Some were working slowly as planned, others tried to rush it, force it.” Isis staring straight ahead now at Akhenaten.

“Just had to try it your way you little brat?” almost roaring into the wind, Isis bellowed.

What could not have been better choreographed, there was a giant snap of energy from the pyramids as if in response to her yell.

Valerie stood and joined Isis at the same time as Osiris who drifted up through the Ley from below. All looking towards the pyramids could see the figure of Akhenaten descending from the top of the pyramids towards the ruined city below. The ley almost arcing like electricity from the top of the pyramids, to Akehenaten, to the temple in the city below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

As they approach, they see Akhenaten has descended and into a central temple. The power from the pyramids flows into a central temple below, each one has one. That's where they'll find him. Where they did the ritual the first time.

As they arrive before the giant doors of the temple, Osiris steps before Valerie and John.

Osiris speaks calmly "Listen to me, this is our fight. We will place him back to sleep. Stay out here, wait for us." finishing he turns to walk towards the temple.

Valerie follows after him "If you fail?" stepping after him.

As Osiris is walking towards the door with the others he replies... "You being inside would only hasten your demise." he says coldly without breaking stride.

John and Valerie stand watching the ancient gods of Egypt ascend the stairs to the temple led by Isis with Osiris quickly moving to her side.

John shifts over next to Valerie while watching them walk inside "We gonna stay out here?" he says slowly turning his head towards her smiling ear to ear.

Valerie looks towards John shocked "HAHA, really?"

John sighs "Shit, that's what i though. This should be fun, lets go around the side and see if there's another entrance."

John pauses... He takes Valerie's hand in his. “Hey, whatever happens. Love you, sexiness”

Valerie starts to walk away and glances back with a simple response.

“I know.”

“Oh hell no! I'm not Leia!!” chasing after Valerie.

------------------------------------

Inside the temple Akhenaten floats in the center. The glowing blue mist surrounds him entirely like a bubble. The glyphs on the wall glow and seek to fuel the bubble around him. His thoughts drift to back to the heresy. He had to remove, hide, the old gods.

They would never accept the sacrifice he would make. Must make.

Once they were hidden, his work could begin. He began ordering his priests and army to destroy records of their existence. He began removing or replacing priests and workers, sometimes with executions. As he came close to his goal, the priests turned. They went as far as to have some priests pretend to be spies. For him. Then killed them to make the people believe he was out of his mind. The priests of Ra... he should have seen it. They wanted to use their little puppet to install the old ways.

That's when they moved. They recreated the ritual. Imprisoned him as he had the others. He never learned how they found out. His mind drifts back to the present.

-------------------------------------------------------

Isis steps forward. "Akhenaten. This ends now."

Roughly 15 meters separates them now.

Slowly Akhenaten's eyes open. Bright blue, like the color of the sea.

"Hello, Mother." Akhenaten nearly snarls "You do not know what you are doing."

Isis replies calmly "Like imprisoning us for eternity?"

13 meters away with a couple steps towards him.

Akhenaten screams as if the child is still inside "I had to do it! You had no idea what was happening. I couldn't allow you all to be there."

Isis calmly steps towards him again "What? How could removing us have helped in anyway?"

10 meters away.

Akhenaten sighs. The bubble around him pulses. It's almost complete.

Akhenaten lowers his voice to nearly a whisper "It's time. This must be done."

Isis stops moving. "No."

5 meters away. The bubble flowing and her robe flowing almost combine. Flowing in an out of each other.

Isis begins to raise her arms followed by the other gods who now step out from doorways surrounding Akhenaten. Just like what he did to them thousands of years ago.

The Ley flows from Isis hands joined by the others. It surrounds the bubble. The mist flowing from the glyphs seems to be absorbed by the ring of blue they placed around the bubble.

Akhenaten seems panicked by their actions "Stop, you will destroy the ritual and any chance we have to stop this!"

His bubble seems to wobble, almost fade or dim, The ring formed by the others seems to be drawing the Ley and keeping him from absorbing more. A low rumble can be felt through the temple up into Cairo.

Isis and the others continue. Speaking to themselves quietly, hands moving as if weaving cloth. As the mist flows from their fingers to form a bright ring, almost pure white, around the bubble it seems to be having an effect on the bubble.

Akhenaten closes his eyes looking as if trying to focus on something.

When the priests turned, they refused to listen. He was not trying to destroy the old gods, but protect his family. There are worse things in the dark... even worse in the light. He made a mistake he couldn't reverse.

With a flash and wave of light, the bubble pulses and sends the gods flying backwards. Only Isis and Osiris are left standing thought they did stumble back several steps.

Akhenaten roars laughing "You think you'd wiggle your fingers and I'd be subdued? Come now Mother, thought you knew better."

Tears flow down Akhenaten's face.

Akhenaten raises his hands and the bubble begins to glow blue to match his eyes but there's something else now... A glowing strand of bright yellow. As if the sun was being drawn into the bubble.

Akhenaten moves his hands out to his sides extended "This ends now!" with a roar that shakes the temple causing a column to tumble over.

Another wave energy explodes from inside the bubble. Like an explosion in space, a ring pushing out with incredible force. Again, Osiris and Isis stand their ground against the assault.

The bubble forms into a giant pillar extending into the sky. Bright white, slowly changing it's color. Swirling and seemingly pulling down into the temple. As the pillar started to grow, the bright yellow seemed to increase. Within seconds, there was a loud thump sound from inside the bubble. The bubble is still there, the ring the others formed seems to be the base of the pillar. The bubble is now funneling energy, but it's yellow. Not white or blue. Yellow. Like the sun.

There's worse things in the light.

----------------------------------------------

Back to the side of the temple, while Isis and Akhenaten are talking, John and Valerie find a way in around the back and give a quiet thanks to no doors. They hide behind pillars as they slid inside and watch it all play out. After the rings exploded out and hit the pillar they were hiding behind. Luckily, there was still enough strength in it to hold and protect them.

John whispers to Valerie "What do we do?"

Valerie whispers calmly "Help if we can, hide if we can't."

John holds his hands in a mocking rifle motion "I'd could really go for a really big gun about right now..."

"Well, sometimes it's more about how you use what you have..." she says with a smirk and sexy grin.

John whisper screams "OUCH!?!?" ending with a playful smile.

Valerie holds up the dagger.

John's face lights up "oohhhhhhh ok, but how? Want me to throw it at him?"

Valerie's face turns up in confusion and disbelief "How do you function in life? No, we need to get close to him when there's a chance..."

As she finishes, Akhenaten sends the gods flying. Isis and Osiris now stand 5 feet away from Valerie and John leaning against the same pillar they hid behind after the blast from Akhenaten.

John grabs the dagger and sprints for Akhenaten. Valerie tries to grab him and misses.

As he gets close, the ring, pillar and sound all stop. Instantly what can only be described as pulled back into him with another thump like earlier.

To be fair, John shouldn't have had a chance but Akhenaten wasn't looking his way. Akhenaten turned at the last second as John plunged the dagger into his chest. To the hilt. John smirked. So did Akhenaten.

Isis and Osiris both scream out "No!"

Akhenaten grabs John and lifts him off the ground with one hand. Akhenaten grabs the dagger, pulls it out of his chest examining the blade.. Lightly flipping it in his hand, he forms a the blue mist around the dagger, the mist is darker now with tints of yellow, and plunges it into John's heart then throws him to the side. Dagger clattering to the floor next to John.

Akhenaten roars so loud the temple walls shake "I didn't want this! You caused this! I will end it!"

While Akhenaten is yelling, he didn't notice Valerie had moved up to grab the dagger and was now slowly striding towards Akhenaten. Tears streaming down her face. He wouldn't get away with this.

Akhenaten continues "Do you,.. see now... what you've... done... He is free. He says directed at Osiris and Isis."

Osiris' eyes goes wide.

Isis stands firm but her face has shifted. Fear.

From the dagger hole in his chest, another strand of yellow mist has started to flow out. It moves faster and brighter. A bright flash and wave of energy knocks back Valerie, Isis and Osiris. Akhenaten now glows a bright yellow with only slight lines of the blue now.

The danger in the light.

One that none but Akhenaten knew was actually coming, well, until now. They had seen the old scrolls and writings describing what was before, but this? Akhenaten studied the old scrolls for years. He learned where it was coming from and how to bring it into himself to contain it. Hide it like his family until he could figure how to remove, and destroy, the being he had contained.

He speaks.

The voice booms, echoes off the walls of the temple.

"It has been far too long. It has been your failure that brings what is next. You will all bow before me. I am Aten"

The world heard his words. Those who understood, cried. Those who didn't, should have.

Isis eyes are wide. Osiris looks scared. Valerie isn't done. She is still walking towards what is now Aten.

His power seems immense. The power flows out of him blowing the roof off the temple. A stream of what looks like a solar flare descends from the Sun towards the earth, the temple and Aten.

Isis knows if that beam reaches him, they are over. They cannot stop him alone.

Alone. Well, not exactly.

Valerie is about 20 feet from Aten when he begins to chuckle.

Aten smiles "Well, what do we have here? The apes have come a long way i see." The yellow energy now flowing around him like a robe made of a thousand folds.

He looks to Valerie walking directly towards him. He extends his hand and a beam of yellow energy streams towards Valerie.

Time stops.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isis stands behind Valerie from leaning against the pillar.

Her outstretched hand glows bright blue like Akhenaten's bubble had been. The glow stays around her hand but she is clearly the reason time has stopped. It's taxing her you can tell from her face as she struggles to hold time. The mist gently floats about the area as if holding all in place.

She walks towards Aten and Valerie. She takes a look at Aten and the bolt shooting towards Valerie. She leans down and looks closely at the beam then to Valerie.

She looks to Valerie curiously... what is that?

In front of Valerie's chest, where the bolt was headed, there's a small glowing mist. Purple and green. Isis knows what this is. She looks deeper into Valerie's mind, Isis eyes glowing bright blue like Akhenaten. She touches Valerie's forehead. A light bell rings like an echo in the distance. A beautiful wind chime catching a breeze.

Isis raises her eyebrows "Well, this is an interesting change. I did say we couldn't do it alone...."

Isis closes her eyes and begins to fade into a bright blue almost white mist. She flows through herself focusing into Valeries's forehead. A whisper of voice floats through Valerie's thoughts. “We need to speak”.

The energy floating around the temple snaps back instantly to the spot at Valerie's forehead.

Time starts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Valerie opened her eyes. Isis is glowing so bright everything else around them seems to reflect or show a shadow. She can't move. Not hurting, more like, keeping safe? She looks around but the ley is flowing around the area, she see's Isis not far away still glowing but now looking more like a lamp on the edge of a river in the fog.

Something else is out there. Isis seems to be speaking with it. She can't hear anything from where she is now. Isis seems to turn towards Valerie. Next to her, a shadow of purple? Faint, may have been from whatever was happening. Isis begins to walk towards Valerie. Smiling.

Here it comes.

“I know you can see what is going on very well right now Valerie.” Isis leans down slightly then continues “We need your help, and you need to understand the plan.”

Valerie didn't even blink “What can I help with?”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The yellow flash hits Valerie's chest. Nothing.

Aten with jaw slack, hanging "Impossible."

Valerie drops the dagger. The mist begins to flow towards her hands at her sides from all across the room. Now though, it also comes from below her feet. Lifting as if in a slight breeze carrying a dandelion seed but strong enough to shatter a mountain. Nothing slowed it.

Glowing Purple and green with slight lines of Ley flowing along. Thicker, more solid but like flowing velvet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Far north of where they are now... rocks begin to reform around another monument. The Parthenon begins to reform as the obelisks did. The purple and green mist swirling around inside and turning down into the ground like a whirlpool. As Aten's pillar did in Egypt.

The Parthenon is online.

The obelisks connect to the Parthenon and the purple stream joins their blue stream. Tourists flee inside and stand around outside filming and uploading instantly to social media. The world watches as the Parthenon begins to glow bright.

The jewel as it was before murderous religions took control.

She was there.

A flash of memory. Her eyes closed as if sleeping. Standing in the crowd watching them pull down revered, well, revered by the humans, statues. They have many words for this. Blasphemy. Heresy. Sacrilege. No word described how insulting it was to simply replace them with their versions of gods. Or, god...

The mists form and surround Valerie's hands lifting her from the ground. As the mist envelops her, lines begin to draw on her skin. Faint at first but burning bright as they form into a mix of Egyptian Hieroglyphs, symbols and lines. There's something else in with them though...

Greek, Roman symbols. Some even Minoan. Ancient. Powerful. Enough to bury an entire continent under water. Her clothes reform and change into a mix of modern and ancient robes. The purple energy entwines around her red hair forming purple braids of energy mixed with bright red hair flowing down her back. The gown created is a glowing display of purple, green trimmed with light blue. Energy flows over it as if water in a whirlpool.

It is not calm.

As she floats surrounded by purple and green energy with the light blue mist faintly floating through it, Aten screams. A serene look on her face. Calm.

Aten dares ask "What is this? Who are you?"

Valerie without opening her eyes speaks. Her voice melodic enough to bring the strongest to their knees. Osiris included.

"We are one. We have come to protect. We give life to all. It is our task to defend it. The Ley answers to us, is us, is us all. You corrupt it."

Aten continues "You cannot stop me. You lay broken and bleeding. Your cities crumble as we speak."

Valerie smiles and with a voice calm and mystic "Well, we can't have that now can we?"

Valerie's voices is now melodic. A mix of Valerie, Isis and another voice...

Valerie slowly continues "We cannot let you proceed Aten. We are Isis..."

Slowly drifting, floating, towards Aten.

10 meters away.

"We are Valerie."

5 meters

"We are Hera!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Egyptian goddess sensed in Valerie the soul of another god when she touched her forehead. Little did she know it was one of the most ancient gods.

Valerie's arms lift and the purple mist shoots around Aten.

Aten fights back with the yellow energy. They both begin swinging energy at each other rising up out of the temple doing battle above the broken necropolis now reformed. Aten's face shows anger. Valerie's face shows peace. As Aten strains and fights to throw energy, it seems Valerie's movements are more calm, measured, unworried.

The energy now seems to be fighting with a mind of it's own. Swirling around them both slamming into each other with catastrophic force where each impact made the sand below move. Valerie's energy flowing from below, Aten's within himself, but Isis knew where he'd get his power. The sun. He needs time to draw it.

Atens roars causing stones and rocks to fall from the buildings. Valerie remained calm. Eyes still closed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below, Osiris has gone to check on John. He is dead. The bolt pierced his heart. There's still a residual blue glow from inside the wound... and something else... a gold strand? Osiris kneels next to John and places his hand over the wound closing his eyes. Something pops them open. Surprise? A smile covers Osiris face.

The same smile Oded flashed on face-time. Something good.

While keeping his hand over the wound, Osiris slowly places his finger on the forehead of John.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The battle continues overhead. While Aten seems to be struggling, neither side seems to be making progress. Valerie's eyes are still closed, slowly waiving her arms to counter Aten's energy.

From below, another tone. Different. Deeper. A drum of war. A gold beam of energy shoots up out of the temple and strikes Aten sending him flying backwards.

From the temple roof lifts a glowing gold figure. He continues to send gold beams of energy at Aten. Aten can barely deflect the assault. He looks closer to see who this new challenger is.

John now floats towards him. Eyes glowing bright gold almost on fire. In his hand he summons a Gladiator sword and shield made of the golden energy. A golden armor forms around him as he floats towards Aten. The look on John's face clearly tells Aten he's in trouble.

Aten begins to assault both Valerie and John. With the power split, it's becoming evident he cannot maintain this. John shoots towards Aten with a flash of gold, sword extended with shield to his side. The tip of the sword is clearly the dagger.

The sword pierces Aten's chest. Aten swings his arm and hits John in the face sending him flying away. John corrects mid air, holds out his hand and the sword disappears from Aten's chest and reforms in John's hand.

Aten reaches out with strained breath "No... you cannot be... how... Who..."

John lowers his arms, still floating. "I am, Osiris. I am the mortal, John..."

With a bellowing roar that causes Aten to flinch "I am, Zeus".

Aten's eyes go wide. Names he knows, older then him. He's the child here now.

John shoots towards Aten again. This time Aten expected it. He catches John and throws him past hitting him with a wave of blue energy and sending him crashing to the ground in the temple.

A hum lifts. A song on the breeze. Calming, peaceful. Final.

Aten turns.

She now floats mere feet from him. Eyes still closed.

Aten screams infuriated "What will you do? You cannot stop this!"

Valerie opens her eyes.

The cosmos in her eyes. A celestial harmony flows out as if the universe is lending it's energy. As if space and time is surrounding, Aten. She quietly speaks...

"I am Valysa. I am the mother Isis, the Goddess Hera and the wife to the man you tried to kill. Twice. You will not, cannot, proceed." with a finality that sends chills down Aten's spine. His face now filled with fear.

The mist forms around Aten. Purple and green but now as it flows up from the floor, it forms more like roots. Surrounding Aten and restraining him. They slowly descend back into the temple as the roots and energy pull him down. He thrashes against it but the energy seems to be drained by the purple mist.

Aten struggling against it cries out "What are you doing. Free me!!"

Valysa steps forward continuing to focus her energy "You will be held here.” Calm, beautiful, like a song every word. “We will give you what you want. To live and grow."

She with almost sadness speaks a single word...

“Now”

From the sides of the temple, John shoots out with the sword above his head.

The roots begin to surround Aten completely. They turn him with his back towards the ground looking at the sky. John drives the sword into Aten's chest pinning him to the ground along with the roots.

Aten slowly stops moving as the roots form into a majestic tree that would make Yggdrasil proud. The tree now stands and the roots begin to spread out of the temple. The ley now flowing in the air like small wisps of cloud. Blue, white, gold and many other colors.

Valysa floats to the ground and stands before the tree. John walks up and stands next to her.

John smiles standing next to her "Well, that's pretty."

Valysa with her voice still melodic "Agreed. He lived to embody the sun. Now, he will live under it. Also, stripped of it. As we lived for eons. He will endure the change daily. Life during the day, death at night. Now, we need to heal this planet. There's work to be done."

John looks surprised "Really? Two gods inside each of us and you still can't just take a break and enjoy a victory?" he says chuckling.

Valysa eyes still glowing like the cosmos "Well,... She turns and moves towards him. It's been awhile since we were apart... She traces a purple line down his armored chest."

John's eyebrows raised in mock shock "People say Zeus is the dirty one..." his hand jokingly placed on his chest in mock disbelief.

Valysa with a wicked grin turns to walk way and then looks back over her shoulder. "Things change, now so must we."

“Yeah, that's hot.” John admires the woman, women, his wife, walking ahead of him now. “This is going to be interesting.”

They stand at the doors to the temple looking out over the city. People have begun to come see what was happening. They form in a massive group outside the temple doors.

As Valysa, John and the other gods step out they see all eyes on them. John steps forward.

John bellows a voice heard around the world "This is the holy mother of our planet. Isis and Hera reborn. She will guide us. She's will help us heal. You will listen to her."

Valysa steps forward and places a hand on his shoulder. She speaks to the crowd but the voice rings like birdsong across the planet.

Valysa's melodic voice brings calm "We are all one. We cannot allow you to destroy yourselves any longer. We will guide you as we did eon's ago to help you live. We are here to lead, not rule. We are all one."

With that, she raises her hands and the purple and blue mist flows out into the crowd. At first, there's startled gasps or a step back. Once touched by the mist, they become calm. Valysa is showing them peace. She'll will teach them to use this energy to be more then they are now. To heal. To build. To live.

She looks back to John who still stands clad in armor "Slightly intimidating, don't you think?"

John shifts "Well, purple flowing sexy gowns are after hours apparel for me."

Valerie smiles and waves her hand. A purple tailored suit forms to replace the armor.

John looks down, smiles and looks back to Valysa "hhmmm, not really my color." He raises his hand to his shoulder and a single flowing thin streak of gold running down from left shoulder to left toe forms.

Valysa smiles and they all begin to walk back into the temple. "Time to heal."

John smiles as they walk back inside and looks to Valysa. “What's first?”

“Well, going to keep calling yourself John? You are 2 gods now” Valerie says with a raised eyebrow.

“Was thinking of that and, ya know, was a bit busy before... Can't really mix the names. Jesus was done. Look how that went” John bellows laughing.

Valysa's hand cracks the back of his head. “Really?”

“What? I'm being serious! I think i'll stick with John for now” John says shaking his head walking back inside.

As they reach the temple doors, Valysa looks back to the people gathered. Smiling. Hugging each other, sharing water, food. This will be everywhere. There is no need for anything else.

Before turning to go inside, Valysa looked to the Sun slowly setting. Aten is contained. She remembers Akhenaten's words.

There's worse in the light.

This will not be the final fight.

They were not the only gods.

We must all join together. This will take work. Patience.

It will work.

John, Zeus, watched from inside the temple as she stares and the crowd and the sun.

A voice in the back of his head whispers.

“Why do we allow this?”

“We should lead”

“We are stronger”

“We can bring back all of our gods to rule”

John shakes his head. No. Valysa will help. We would destroy.

Another voice “I knew you were smart” from Osiris.

The thought lingers but quickly vanishes as Valysa turns back towards John smiling.

As she walks inside, the giant doors close behind her.

There's worse in the light.

End.

After -

In South America, an archeologist has been hunting and exploring the jungles using the latest tech like LIDAR to locate ancient structures. The most recent scans shows a 80 square mile city completely covered by jungle. One structure identified is assumed to be the primary temple. He'll head there with his team first.

1 week later they were standing at the base of the Ancient structure. Completely overgrown and would take years to excavate. He sighs to himself and smiles. This is still a massive discovery but he needs proof to get more funding to continue. He begins climbing the temples exterior.

As he gets halfway up the temple, rocks shift, collapse and he tumbles into a shaft. The workers quickly come to his rescue. He yells back he is ok and there's a tunnel which leads up into the temple, not down. Similar to the ancient Mayan temple there's a room at the top of the steps inside. His flashlight shows little as if the structure absorbs the light. He gets closer to the walls to examine them with the light.

Black granite or something very close. It does seem to absorb the light.

As he moves farther into the room he sees a throne at the back of the room. A scepter rests on the seat.

He cautiously reaches for the scepter.

“Mr. Mills!” a worker has come down to help and now stood back in the entryway.

He looked back towards the entry. “It'll be fine Marco. This has sat here for thousands of years”

He reaches down and picks up the scepter. Examining closely it's intricate details. As he inspects it's beauty, he notices something odd. Writing from other civilizations. Mayan, American Indian, Egyptian, Chinese and others he didn't recognize.

He turns towards Marco. “See, told you. Just a relic to be shown. Also, we have the proof we need to excavate!”

He holds the scepter above his head. Other workers have entered the tunnel now but refuse to enter the chamber with him.

“What's the issue gentlemen? An old temple still scares the young?” Mills says with a sneer.

He stands before the throne holding the scepter “Here, look. All is well men!”

He sits on the throne. The scepter flares to life. A dark mist as black as the temple with the lights off escapes the scepter and surrounds Mills. Before he can shout, he's completely covered.

The men all stare in awe. Some flee, most stay to watch.

As the dark water like fluid leaves around Mills it goes back into the scepter. Mills now sits atop the throne. His clothes have changed. He is now covered in gold and black robes. His head is slightly tilted down and eyes closed.

Marco, watching the entire thing slowly approaches “Senior Mills?”

His eyes shoot open. Black as the void.

His mouth opens and the void flows out like water engulfing first Marco, the men in the hallway and then the men outside running. Pathetic. They never had a chance.

Mills stands from the throne as the dark fluid flowed back into his mouth.

He strides forward two steps, stops, holds the scepter over his head.

The temple shakes. A roar a cry fills air as if a million people lost a loved one.

Outside, the jungle is stripped back from the entire city. Walls are rebuilt, Streets reform. The black fluid seeming to flow as mortar holding the city together. His city. A city of death.

He stands on the steps in front of the temple. He sees all below him as his. He will rule all.

He's gone by many names, but one he favors more. He finds it suits him. In the underworld his name was known. Feared. It is forgotten here. He shall remind them.

His name is Cizin. The god of death for the Maya and now the world.

He feels the world has changed. Time to change it again.

With a puff of black smoke, he vanishes leaving the city to itself fully restored but filled with the black liquid.

The darkness has found the light.

Joking add for the end... Valerie asked John later about what they were discussing on the ride to the pyramids. He never gave details except for one thing. It's impossible to carry on a conversation with anyone, anywhere, at anytime without eventually talking about Dr. Who.
