Isaac ShapiroPublished 4 years ago in GeeksReview of Locke and Key
Recently, Netflix has been making shows and movies of their own. I started watching the show titled "Locke and Key". The reason I started it was because IMDB rated the show at a 7.4 our of 10 and rotten tomatoes had rated the show at 66%, so both of the ratings were a little above average. A lot of people seem to be obsessed with it and I can see why. The idea that there are hidden keys all over a house makes it exciting to see what each newly found key does. Now, I do have my reservations about the show as well. Starting with the good points, I like the set design, everything seems to be well thought out, such as the old carpets in each room, the kitchen and each bedroom. The school does not look fancy, but an ordinary school with small lockers. The friendships that the children Tyler, Kinsey and Bode form relationships seem real and each character is not two-dimensional. They have background stories and their town hobbies. Now, I know the show is meant to be an adaptation of a horror comic written by Joe Hill and some viewers were expecting it to be scarier than it is, but I cannot deal with horror movies. I am glad, this is a show that I can handle and enjoy.
The King (2019)
As I sit here watching The King for a third or fourth time, I ponder the many ways a biopic such as this must be measured. There are, of course, the usual concerns (lighting, sound, acting, direction, etc) as well as accuracy (character, wardrobe, speech) and the relevance (or ability to connect) to modern audiences. For a less thorough review, please listen to the podcast attached above.

Thao Thao TranPublished 4 years ago in GeeksI used to be self-deprecating with my reading habits
What are your feelings when reading the Alchemist? When I hadn't read this book, I asked my friend to let me review. She simply said that a young person struggles a lot to achieve his dream, but there are no other special feelings. And the quote is so popular from the story we meet forever, so much so that I thought it would be a "logo" for the book, is "when you yearn for something, the whole universe will join forces to help you." get there ”. I am not impressed with this review and the quote is repeated many times. It wasn't until last year that I read this book, because it's thin and because I'm stressed by work, I just want to read something fast. I've read it startled because this volume is "too" and "heavy". I cried numb for it.

1. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) Miloš Forman's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is brimming with psychotic energy. However, let's face it: Part of that energy is actually pretty dark, if not plain morbid. By the end, there are themes of suicide as well as euthanasia. Plus, many of the characters are essentially caged inside themselves, with the psychiatric hospital outwardly representing their inner turmoil and suppression. Randle Patrick "R.P." McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) ultimately becomes a shell of his former self — both good and bad — and therefore already dead. Billy Bibbit (Brad Dourif) is destroyed by his inhibitions, as well as the outside world trying to control and manipulate his judgment. All does not end well.
