X-Plaining the Dawn of X: House of X and Powers of X
In July of 2019, Marvel Comics, Johnathan Hickman, Pepe Larraz, and R.B. Silva completely upended and revitalized the mutant-centric X-Men line of comic book titles with House of X/Powers of X. The twelve-part event comic brought many changes to the structure of the Marvel Universe, as well as ten new monthly series, two limited series, three one-shots, and more on the way. With the next major event, X of Swords (read as ‘Ten of Swords’) on the way this September, it seems appropriate to recap all the titles and changes that lead here. Starting with the pivotal HOX/POX

Depending on how long you have been a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, you may remember the heartbreak that we experienced in the summer of 2012 when Clark Gregg's beloved character, Phil Coulson, suffered a tragic death at the hands of Loki in The Avengers. It was a tumultuous time in the fandom, culminating in collective joy when Phil Coulson was revealed to be alive in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which premiered in the fall of 2013. Now, years have passed, and Phil Coulson has continued to endear himself to Marvel fans everywhere. However, all good things come to an end, with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. being on its final season.

Whenever a new Batman is cast, there tends to be a sect of fandom that feels skeptical about the new actor in the role. This goes way back to the casting of comedic actor Michael Keaton for the titular role in the 1989 film simply titled Batman. Lo and behold, Keaton now tends to be a fan favorite for many, with some even clamoring for him to return in a possible live-action Batman Beyond.
Culture SlatePublished 4 years ago in Geeks“The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” by Carson McCullers
I first read this book in my teens after finding it in the local library and I was absolutely enamoured with it. I fell in love with the book almost immediately and there was something incredibly inspiring about it. Carson McCullers is an incredible writer and her style of prose has always been so emotionally driven that she is possibly one of my favourite writers of all time. My first reading experience of this book was sublime. I didn’t need anyone to tell me to read it or recommend it to me, I found it and it was well worth the find. I felt like I’d stumbled across a goldmine. It totally changed my opinion of American Literature, I realised that there was a whole world out there I hadn’t read yet and that Carson McCullers was one of the authors who started the process for me. You would not believe how happy I was.
Annie KapurPublished 4 years ago in GeeksChristopher Nolan's Film 'Tenet' Gets Pushed Back Yet Again
Tenet, which stars Sam David Washington and Robert Pattinson, is the latest cinematic project from Christopher Nolan. Many superhero movie fans know him for The Dark Knight trilogy, but he has also done cerebral films, including the science fiction titles Inception and Interstellar. Judging from what little we know of the premise, it seems that Tenet is no exception and may fit in neatly with Nolan's collection of cerebral science fiction films. While the couple of trailers that have been released have not clarified the premise a whole lot, it seems that a concept referred to as "inversion" (which is explicitly said to not be time travel, necessarily) is an essential component of the plot, as agents try to prevent World War III.

Jide OkonjoPublished 4 years ago in Geeks'No Time To Die' Might Be Releasing Summer 2021
MGM and Universal are reportedly considering a summer 2021 release for the latest Bond film, No Time to Die. The fifth film to feature Daniel Craig as the iconic MI6 agent, it was initially slated to be released last April. However, the initial onset of the pandemic compelled the studios to delay the theatrical release by seven months, slating it for a November release date. With the world being as it is right now, it is possible that November could still be too soon to release a big film such as this.

Trevor WellsPublished 4 years ago in Geeks'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' Delayed
When the Disney+ platform published the release schedule for August, a much anticipated MCU title was conspicuously left off of the updated list. The show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was going to see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) step into leading roles with these characters. The two would continue the chemistry established between them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. This show was slated to become one of the first by Marvel Studios on the streaming platform.
