This is expensive! Banana Island is home to some of the most expensive and prestigious homes in Africa. It's also home to the highest number of billionaires in the continent. In fact, 36 occupants of this island own private jets.
Jide OkonjoPublished 4 years ago in Geeks8 YouTubers to Subscribe to That Aren't Controversial Beauty Gurus
Now, I won't name names, but as many young watchers know, YouTube hasn't been the most pleasant place to be because of recent events. Don't get me wrong, there are still some amazing beauty gurus that are on YouTube like NikkiTutorials, but I thought I would make a list of channels that are stress free and make you feel like you have a place where you belong once again. THAT was the original purpose of YouTube. It's suppossed to be a place for creativity where everyone can escape to and feel at home. So here is a diverse list of YouTubers that I think are absolutely awesome and you should go subscribe to if you haven't already. (None of them are sponsoring me BTW.)
Martin & Lewis
Iconic duo, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis have a classic way at humor in their early movies. A different generation, but humor that reaches all ages. Martin was known for his charm, good looks, and his smooth Italian singing. In the movies, he was the guy who always got the girl. Lewis was the comedy relief. He had that high squeaky voice that played Martin's silly buddy.
Jasper WolfPublished 4 years ago in GeeksThe Don of Avon: Scarface Bill Shakespeare
Once the winter of their homeland’s discontent was made glorious summer by treaties and merry meetings, one man (who wasn’t shaped for sportive tricks, nor made to court an amorous looking glass) was determined to prove a villain and hate the idle pleasures of such days. In Shakespeare’s Medieval England, such a man was the hunchbacked King Richard III, and in Howard Hughes’ 1920’s America, it was the mafioso Antonio “Tony” Camonte. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the mythical monster and sociopath that is Shakespeare’s “Richard of Gloucester” and Howard Hughes’ cinematic adaptation of Al Capone (Tony Camonte) to further emphasize how such villainous figures at face value are in fact tragic figures, who fall from grace by means of greed, ambition, and the shedding of blood; and ultimately embrace their appropriate fates by the sword of justice.
Jacob HerrPublished 4 years ago in Geeks10 Animated Disney Movies That Need A Live Action Remake
Some of the recent live-action Disney remakes have had divise reviews. Let's be real...they're not always great. In my opinion, the best two remakes have been The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast. (Feel free to disagree just btw.) But I can't deny, most of the remakes have been a blast, and it's exciting to see new versions of your favorite childhood movies and to see what they are going to improve or do differently. Without a doubt, there are some animated movies that have potential to grow by having a redo. Now this will be a mix between movies from the Golden Age, Bronze Age, and Renisance films. Here are a few animated Disney features that I believe deserve live-action remakes, and I'll add my agruments as to why...
‘Radioactive’: The Burden of Brilliance
Biopics, or biographical films, are often difficult to pull off. They are often polarizing, especially among those who are experts or fans of the subject. Bohemian Rhapsody was revered in many ways, but historians and fans of Queen alike noticed the mishandling of Freddie Mercury’s bisexuality. Harriet, although faithful to Harriet Tubman’s story, struggled to create an interesting story structure. Even Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile only really focused on Ted Bundy’s public murders, and had a hard time adding a new perspective to the already pervasive story of a famous serial killer. Radioactive, the story of Marie Curie, is much different than the average biopic. Marjane Satrapi and Jack Thorne, the director and screenwriter of this film, take a lot of interesting visual risks that end up really paying off to tell the story of an incredible person who lived a huge, if somewhat tragic, life.
MovieBabblePublished 4 years ago in Geeks'Psych' Shawn and Gus are the dynamic duo of the century
One Friday night in 2011 I found myself in a motel room. A leaking water heater had shorted out the ground wire in my home and we could no longer safely use the electricity. My husband had gone out to get us a late night snack and I began flipping TV channels. I was pretty depressed and had no clue what the future held. I happened upon the show “ Psych” on the ION network and I was immediately hooked. Here were these two guys, one black the other white, (or so I thought), who were solving crimes in a hilarious, keystone cops meets Abbott and Costello kind of way. I was laughing until I cried and elated when I found out the show was on Saturday night as well. Psych took my mind off of my current situation and I have enjoyed these two men, as I watched their zany antics each week. It reminds me of how I rooted for soap opera super couples during the 1980’s.
Cheryl E PrestonPublished 4 years ago in GeeksZack Snyder Hints at a Longer Runtime for His Cut of 'Justice League'
The DCEU film Justice League has been a hot topic of much comic book movie discussion since its release in November 2017. Zack Snyder could not complete the film due to a tragedy in the family, so Joss Whedon took over. The resulting film had a 120-minute runtime and was deemed underwhelming to many moviegoers. Even if it was not terrible, it should have been better for what it was. After all, the Justice League are DC's iconic team of high profile superheroes. Since the film's release, there have been tidbits about just how different Zack Snyder's version of the film would have been, prompting a sect of DC fandom to campaign for this version using #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.
Culture SlatePublished 4 years ago in GeeksWonderstorm Animated Series 'The Dragon Prince' Renewed for Four More Seasons
Fans of the Wonderstorm-produced The Dragon Prince, an animated fantasy series, have gotten their wish and more. The series made its debut on Netflix in September 2018 and has gained a loyal following, with some perceiving it as a spiritual successor to the beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender. Even setting aside the fact that it was co-created by Avatar: The Last Airbender head writer and executive producer Aaron Ehasz, as well as the fact that Sokka voice actor Jack DeSena voices Callum here, The Dragon Prince has a similar type of humor that complements the fleshed-out world that it inhabits.
Culture SlatePublished 4 years ago in Geeks"Absalom, Absalom!" by William Faulkner
Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner is probably one of my favourite novels of all time, and if you remember my post on my top five favourite novels ever you would’ve noticed that Faulkner’s epic drama is at number five. Clearly one of the greatest novels ever written, Faulkner’s story tells the tale of a man called Thomas Sutpen who, with too much greed and power gathers his machiavellian self to commit to a life of the American Dream in the most Southern Gothic way ever imagined. But, as his life comes down crumbling around him like the Gardens of Babylon, this Biblical-Scaled tragedy is far darker than it first seems. I remember first reading this when I was sixteen years’ old and I immediately fell in love with Faulkner’s writing style. It was the first Faulkner I read and straight afterwards, I began “Light in August” and “As I Lay Dying” - I finished his entire bibliography only recently because for some reason I missed “Intruder in the Dust” for about six years until three months ago. But, in my re-reads of Absalom, Absalom!, I can honestly say that I have discovered far more about the Southern Gothic than I ever got from any other work of literature ever.

Jide OkonjoPublished 4 years ago in GeeksFor Better or (Mostly) Worse, ‘The Kissing Booth 2’ is More of the Same
2018 was a big year for Netflix as they finally began to figure out their original content production formula. Specifically, producing as many romantic comedies as humanly possible. From To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before to Set It Up to even The Kissing Booth, Netflix finally realized a portion of the moviegoing audience was severely underserved in theaters and on other streaming services. It’s fair to say this was also the first leg in the Netflix star machine, with actors such as Noah Centineo, Lana Condor, Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Jacob Elordi, and Joey King all increasing their fame drastically.
