Countdown to February!

Can you believe it? January is just about over already. I hope your year is off to as great of a start as you can get in these unsettling times. With so much happening each and every day, it's hard to keep up with some of the stories that are circulating around, so I wanted to highlight some that interest me.

As I get older, I realize that I've started focusing a lot more on the events taking place around me and what impact they might have on myself or my loved ones, so let's dive right into things!

Who will become King of the Monsters?

Coming to HBO Max on March 26, 2021!

I've been patiently waiting for the release of the Official Trailer for Godzilla Vs Kong for some time now, I have some history with the misunderstood monster. I've been a fan of the character since I was a kid, I fell in love with Godzilla: The Series and even more in love with the Roland Emmerich directed film of 1998 (I don't think its aged well). I've seen many of the earlier movies but not in recent years, but when they decided to bring the King of Monsters back in the 2014 reboot, it was thrilling news. Between now and then, the Kaijuverse has expanded, with the reintroduction of King Kong in 2016's Kong: Skull Island.

The end of Skull Island teased the existence of other Kaiju on Earth, lying dormant until we were given, Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019, a film that brought the Kaijuverse to life on a whole new scale, I do have one wish though...

Can we focus more on the Monsters and less on the humans, who're merely gnats compared to their GODly characters. Fast forward to today, January 24th, 2021 and Warner Bros has finally released the trailer (see below) which provides glimpses of what looks like a Mecha of some sort, Godzilla and Kong both have little hoomans who want to see them safe, and what appears to be some major infrastructure changes. When the film is finally released, you can definitely expect a Scorecard to be released for the movie, in the meantime, do enjoy the trailer until March!

Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

COVID-19 continues to keep the world sheltered in our homes, distanced from our loved ones and friends, and wondering if there's truly an end in sight for this raging pandemic. We've seen several vaccines approved recently and vaccinations have already been administered to over 63 million+ people around the globe and more given with every passing day. I know many people think, "Well, all the media talks about are how many people die!" As they should, we all need to understand and acknowledge the severity of situation we're all facing together, in the United States alone, we've lost over 417,000+ people to this deadly virus and we, must combat this foe together. Please wear your masks, practice social distancing, and practice appropriate hygiene.

The emergency approval for Johnson & Johnson's COVID vaccination may take up to two weeks, per Dr. Anthony Fauci.

That news should be exciting to all, as Johnson & Johnson will have 100 million doses available for distribution by April. There are two major benefits to this vaccine compared to the others, one being it doesn't require the same cold temperature refrigeration AND it only will require one dose, that's right, just ONE.

Legends Never Die

Unfortunately, this week didn't come without loss, as both Hank Aaron and Larry King passed away.

MLB player from 1954-1976

Aaron passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 86. An outfielder, he attended a spring training for the Braves and after an injury sidelined his teammate, Aaron was given his opportunity and never seemed to look back. He'd spend 20 years of his career as an All-Star and winning his only World Series in 1957. Aaron would eventually break Babe Ruth's record of 714 homeruns, finishing his career with 755. He's considered one of the greatest baseball players of all-time and having been able to achieve such things, in the day and age he played, speaks to the strength and resilience he had, as a Black man in America. Rest east, King!

Larry King Live 1985-2010

The next person we lost was Larry King, a radio host icon, who passed on January 23, 2021 at the age of 87. King had his own self-titled talk shows from 1978 (The Larry King Show) until his retirement in 2010 (Larry King Live). During his career, King was able to interview former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and even The Beatles. Throughout his career, King was able to secure Peabody's, an Emmy, hell, he was even recognized by Guinness World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot.

Both of these men are pioneers in their professions and both will be missed dearly by millions of fans of Sports and Journalism.

America made History!

The absolute highlight for the week comes from January 20, 2021, when the Joseph R. Biden was sworn in, as the next President of the United States, which comes after a long and hard four years for America, in the global spotlight. Biden gave the country and the world, a speech that was both positive and honest, I believe it spoke to the current times and issues that America continues to face. Not to take away from the importance of finally having an intelligent, honest, and non-treasonous, Commander-In-Chief but! I'll need President Biden to please step aside because the history doesn't lie with him, but with MADAM Vice President, Kamala Harris. Our FIRST woman Vice President, our FIRST Black and Asian Vice President in American History.

You LOVE to see it!

You LOVE to see it!

As a Black man and father of two Black girls, this moment just hits differently. First Obama and now Harris, in the last 12 years, America has grown and though we still have our deeply rooted, racial issues, the vast majority of America is ready to combat our dark history and move forward together. Madam Vice President Harris...

I just love saying it!

Madam Vice President Harris, welcome! You're an inspiration to many (including my family and I) and I wish you, Mr. President and the entire administration the best of luck! You guys have a lot of work ahead of you, thanks to that incompetent nitwit, but I have faith in you guys. My optimism knows no bounds, but I do know that if you put the needs of the American people at the forefront, you will do great!

As I sit back and enjoy my Sunday, there's one more piece of news that needs discussed. My niece celebrated her 7th birthday, Ny you made it to vocal boo! I love you.

To my readers, I love you all! Thank you for the continued support, we're approaching a milestone and once we arrive, I'll let you all know! Be sure to LIKE & SHARE.
