Kyle’s Cousin Has A Dark Agenda On ‘The Young And The Restless’

On The Young and the Restless, Theo’s back story is that he and Kyle partied hard together in New York. Jack’s son returned to Genoa City and put his past behind him, becoming a business executive and a married man. Theo came to town and was offended to find his party buddy was growing up. The first thing Mr. Vanderway did was to start hitting the sheets with Summer after finding out she and Kyle had been married. He then went out of his way to stop Kyle’s next wedding to Lola. When that did not work Theo tried to pretend he wanted to play nice.

Kyle did not trust him, but Lola wanted to give Theo a chance, after they began hanging out at Society. The new Mrs. Abbott believed she was finding the softer side of her husband’s associate. It was later revealed that Dina was Theo’s grandmother and Kyle was shocked to find out his adversary is also his cousin. Jack and Traci are trying to give their new relative the benefit of the doubt but Kyle refused. He is more enraged especially now that Theo is working for Jabot. Recently a few things have come to light that bring Dina's grandson's character into question.

Last week on The Young and the Restless, Theo almost missed a meeting with an important client, because he got the date wrong. He later told Summer that Kyle switched the meeting to make him look bad. Ms. Newman pointed out that her ex husband would never sabotage his own family business, but if Kyle was not behind this mix up then there are only a few other options. It could be that Theo simply got the dates wrong or he caused the problem himself on purpose in an attempt to try to make his cousin look bad. The only other explanation is that Summer did it to punish Theo for breaking up with her.

If Theo did this himself he is indeed dangerous and delusional to the point he believes he can soil Kyle in the eyes of his father, Jack. Another point to consider is that when Lola asked why Theo remained in Genoa City, rather than go to Paris, Mr. Vanderway had an interesting answer. He said he had to prove himself to someone and she asked if it was Kyle. Theo did not answer but it’s possible that Lola herself is the one he wants to impress based on his later exchange with Summer.

On the episode that will air either Monday or Tuesday, after Summer says Kyle did not switch the meeting date, Theo slips up and shows his hand. He responds by saying he does not understand why beautiful women buy into his cousin’s bull. Summer catches that he said women, plural and calls him out on his feelings for Lola. He retorts by saying that she never got over Kyle. Summer goes on to tell him he will never have Lola and says that he seems to be tying to live Kyle’s entire life. This may indeed be Theo’s dark agenda, to take everything that belongs to his cousin.

Theo may be jealous because Kyle was born an Abbott and he just found out Dina was his grandma. In the past he mentioned that’s Kyle’s trust fund cane in handy while they were in New York so he may envy Kyle’s financial security. It’s possible the only reason Theo dated Summer is because his cousin had her first and now he is targeting the new Mrs. Abbott. To be fair, he did not seek out employment with Jabot as it was Jack who offered his nephew the job. Now that he is working for the family business, he may want to make his cousin appear to be holding a grudge. The issue of Lola, however is a completely different subject. Theo seems as if he is genially fond of the Society chef but she is still married to his cousin.

Theo may feel insecure and think Kyle is a spoiled rich kid. He might want to knock his cousin down a notch or two and Zoe was supposed to do just that. Lola was never told the story of what happened in New York of how an underage Ms. Hardisey got drunk and passed out at a party. Kyle and Theo took her to the ER and left her there in front of the door. When her father found out, Kyle paid Zoe’s dad to keep his mouth shut. The show has moved forward from this but it could be brought up later. Theo might tell Lola the truth to drive a wedge between her and her husband.

A majority of those who watch The Young and the Restless are not fans of Theo Vanderway and have said all along that he has a hidden agenda. His nasty attitude towards Summer, now that he has dumped her is very telling. Now that he knows he is Dina’s grandson, he may indeed want to take everything from Kyle. Summer however is on to him and may put a stop to Theo’s dark agenda. Viewers know she will do anything to help her beloved Kyle.
