Kelly Thiebaud wins

Congratulations to Kelly Thiebaud on winning the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. The General Hospital cast member has truly been stretched both on and off-screen and her followers are excited for her about the well-deserved honor.

Kelly looked truly surprised and honored when her name was called and her fans are saying she deserved the Emmy win . Sometimes those who watch the soaps will scratch their heads trying to figure out why a particular actor was nominated or why they won because they saw nothing extra ordinary in their character. Kelly’s performance and evolution as Britt during the past few years should leave no doubt how outstanding an actress she is.

Britt Westbourne is unique

Britt is a unique woman with enough baggage to carry an entire GH episode. She can be downright malicious and also reluctantly let you see she has a heart. She was the chief of staff at General Hospital and ruled with an iron fist until Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Chsrleson) decided she should share her position with Dr. Terry Randolph (Cassandra James).

There was a lot of friction between the two women who clashed often. Britt also watched as Terry was accepted by the GH staff when she was rejected. Slowly and with reservations the nurses whom Dr. Westbourne mistreated began to allow her into their inner circle after Dr. Randolph asked them to give her a chance.

Britt is trying to adjust to being the daughter of Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and Cesear Faison (Andre Hovis) and her sarcastic personality has made her plenty of enemies. Her best friend Brad Coooer (Parry Shen) is now out of jail but Britt has to keep him at arms length.

The Co-chief of staff is being blackmailed by Brad’s aunt Selina Wu (Lydia Look) who knows a secret about the time Britt and her dad were in the run. Fans are curious about the secret and wondering if and when this will be revisited.

The future is uncertain

Kelly's character has gone through some harrowing situations and is rising above it all. Gans believe Britt went on the run with Jason Morgan ( Steve Burton) and the two went on the run. They began falling in love but Jason is now presumed dead.

Hateful General Hospital fans who believed Jason should have remained with Sam McCall (Jelly Monaco) used social media to compare the two characters and imply Britt would never measure up to Sam. Thiebaud was also criticized when she began wearing bangs and she stood up to the online bullies. She explained she was an actress just doing her job but the haters persisted.

Thiebaud received a false positive on a COVID test last year and had to remain off screen for 10 days although a second test came back negative. Early in 2022 she shared with her fans that she had tested positive again and this time she did have the coronavirus.

Onscreen since Jason’s death Britt has gone through a lot of changes. She is dealing with her emotions over losing the one man who accepted her as is and she has been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease for which their is no cure.

Britt was at the Metro Court for a singles mingle when she was knocked into the pool by Cody who was hired to parachute into the pool as a stunt. Britt had been drinking heavily and was humiliated to find herself on camera and now is trying to recover. The future is uncertain for Dr. Western because there is no cure for Huntington’s disease. Some General Hospital viewers are hoping Britt has been misdiagnosed and that she will be on the soap for a long time.
