‘Greenleaf’ fans continue to discuss ‘Everything has an expiration date’

Viewers wonder if AJ has died or is dying or perhaps the show itself is over.

In an interview with People, regarding Greenleaf, executive producer Oprah Winfrey was quoted as saying the following: "I do everything from the point of view of intention, and the intention in all of my work is to raise consciousness and lift people up. I am not gonna do anything that is derogatory toward the church because I am of the church. Do you not think people in the church are flawed? That's why they're going." Grace Greenleaf’s flaw, her illegitimate son is causing quite a stir among devotees of the hit drama that was airing Wednesday nights at 10 PM on OWN.

As Greenleaf fans await an official notice regarding a fifth season, the cryptic words of the AJ lookalike continue to be discussed. On social media sites loyal viewers of the OWN original series have the same questions they did when the show ended season 4 in 2019. The faithful desire the meaning of the cryptic words uttered by AJ’s doppelgänger in the final moments of the last episode of the fourth season. The young man said to Grace, “Everything has an expiration date.” It is being alleged that season 5 had been confirmed, but no official statement had come from OWN. This has caused viewers to give their own interpretation of the situation.

One thing to pay attention to would be when reruns of Greenleaf begin on OWN. Whenever The Haves and Have Nots, and Greenleaf were returning in previous years, the preceding episodes began airing. You would think the powers that be would desire to keep fans engaged as that would surely boost ratings. Tyler Perry gives viewers if his shoes teasers and commercials indicating what is coming next. Oprah obviously is going things differently with Greenleaf.

Some Greenleaf fans believe the young man who showed up on the family property is the real AJ. If this were true why did he walk off and where would he be going? Others suggest that Grace’s son is dead and she spoke to his spirit, ghost, or angel. A few fans said the young man gave them chills and they think he was an evil spirit bringing a cryptic message. The silence from Oprah’s network is causing viewers to keep this television show on their lips with theories and possibilities of what the expiration statement actually meant. One theory is that AJ was sick and has expired, because he stole prescription meds. Another consideration is thst the young man was referring to Grace’s sister Faith, whose grave she was visiting. Some believe AJ’s lookalike was telling Grace that her sister’s time came and she should just move on ftom it. A third scenario that is floating around is that the Greenleaf series itself has actually expired, AKA been cancelled.

Viewers will continue to give their opinions until OWN releases details. In the meantime, Greenleaf season 4 can be viewers on Netflix. Greenleaf season 4 was the shortest with only 10 episodes. It began on September 4 2019 and ended on November 13. It is being alleged that a season five is in the works, but until this news comes directly from the source, fans should take it with a grain of salt. If season 5 Is a go, but does not start until the fall of 2020, it could be months before fans obtain any details about what’s going to happen. Viewers are anxious and seeking answers on social media and Facebook groups set up to talk about the show.

The Greenleaf family, comes across as a family who is loving and caring to their own. Grace regrets giving her son up for adoption and hiding him from her family but is it too late? Grace returned home to expose some skeletons in the Greeleaf closet and now it’s been trevealef that she has a few of her own. “Gigi” returned to the family mansion after a 20 year absence and right behind her came the son whom she thought would remain a secret. AJ has some things he is hiding about his own life and fans need season five in order to obtain closure, “ Everything has an expiration date” and the AJ lookalike will keep Greenleaf lovers talking until the truth is made known.
