On Thursday's episode of General Hospital, there were several changes for the cast as well as faithful viewers. This was the first episode since the coronavirus restrictions, and social distancing. Monday-Wednesday, fans saw their favorite characters interacting as they always had. On Thursday, however, the new normal was evident. The actors seemed larger on the television screen because of new camera angles that make them look closer than they really are. No one, however, was touching, hugging, or kissing, and there was not one love scene.

In most scenes, it was evident that there was additional distance and some characters literally seemed as though they were dancing around each other. In a few scenes such as when Jason and Jordan were seated near each other, and when Maxie, Lucy, and Sasha were standing in close proximity it was difficult to tell that they were at a wider distance. The second change is that Amanda Setton was replaced by Brianna Lane. General Hospital viewers were told in advance that Kelly Monaco would be away from the set for two weeks, but Lane stepping in was a complete shock to those who watch the ABC daytime drama.

A number of General Hospital fans had meltdowns when Kelly Monaco was replaced, even though it was announced that it was only or two weeks. Viewers are not as invested in the character of Brooklyn so this change may be accepted with a little more tolerance. A new face for Ned's daughter, Sam, and the social distancing was made easier by the fact that all the characters were professional and carried it off as if everything was as it should be. There has been no time frame for how long Setton will be away from her role. All that is known is that she has taken a leave of absence.

On Thursday, Valentin brought Brooklynn on board as the voice of Deception to join Sasha who is the face of the cosmetics line. Briana Lane played the part of Ned's sarcastic daughter just as Amanda Setton had. Her exchange with Maxie regarding Lulu was spot on. Good luck to Brianna Lane on her new role and here's to trusting that viewers will give her a chance and not be judgmental. If Lane looks familiar it's because she has had roles in NBC's The New Normal, as well as Freeform's Switched at Birth, and Young & Hungry, She also had the lead role in Disney's Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3.

The beautiful actress has the same dark hair and eyes as her predecessor Amanda Sutton and yet she also seems to resemble the lovely Sandra Bullock. When the Quartermaines find out that her character Brooklynn sold her ELQ shares to Valentin and kept quiet about it, this will really cause the fur to fly. The "Q's" have not had any knockdown drag-out fighting since Traci calmed down before she left Port Charles for Paris. Brianna Lane has stepped into this role at a pivotal time for her character and it looks like things are about to become pretty serious real soon. Best of luck to Amanda Sutton and her pregnancy, and also to Brianna Lane who is filling in for her.
