General Hospital: A possible new enforcer

Last week on General Hospital Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard ) announced that Brick (Stephen C Smith) would be taking over the duties of the presumed dead Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Smith is a sportscaster and is currently involved in several projects at this time. Viewers would love to see more of Brick but have assumed that his additional responsibilities would mostly be off-screen. Now it has been revealed that Evan Hofer has been hired by the ABC soap as a character who will seek a job working for Sonny.

The latest issue of Soap Opera Digest as well as other spoilers confirms that Hofer will join the cast of General Hospital and make his first appearance during this week of May 2, He will portray a new character named Dex and this could play out in several ways. Many GH fans believe Dex will work close with Sonny and replace Jason as his enforcer but it would take time for Sonny to train and trust this young man. Spoiler alerts only say he will seek a job with Sonny but do not reveal whether or not he will be hired.

Dex could be a spy

This new character shows up out of the blue seeking employment with Sonny seems suspicious and it could be a set-up. There is possibly more than meets the eye going on that will be revealed in time. Sonny knows that someone is after him and he might decide Dex is a plant. Right now the breakup with Carly, the affair with Nina, and Jason's death have weakened the Corinthos organization. In time more will be revealed about the new guy in Port Charles but for now, everything is only speculation.

Sonny probably would not hire a random stranger so perhaps Dex has connections and comes highly recommended. If Dex does end up working for Sonny this will baffle fans who have been waiting for Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) to join his cousin's organization. This will also have General Hospital fans wondering about the rumors that Trevor St. John is joining the cast as the new Jason.

Evan Hofer

Evan Hofer was born on May 8th, 1997 and will be turning 25 soon. The actor has had roles in Roll with It, and Dwight in Shining Armor in 2019 and Run the Race in 2018. He also was in Modern Family. Not much else is known about him but his age presents an interesting situation on General Hospital. Would Sonny really hire someone young enough to be his grandchild? Does the mob boss have the time and patience or even the desire to mentor this young man?

The mystery surrounding Dex

Could Dex be working with whoever had Charlie's robbed or is he just a temporary fixture in Port Charles? Some viewers are still hoping Burton will return to his popular role but he is currently part of the cast of Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem 2 which premieres on Peacock in July. Fan reaction has been mixed with some saying Hofer is cute but others indicating they are tired of new cast editions.

Some viewers believe Dex should date Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) but even more think he would be great for Joslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) or even Esme Prince (Kristen Avery Pohl). One thing that is certain is that the writers have a plan for this new man in Port Charles and whatever it is will begin to unfold this week. Be on the lookout for Spoilers and updates regarding Dex and be sure to tune in to General Hospital to find out what happens next.
