Spencer comes face to face with Nikolas

Nicholas Bechtel recently tweeted that he can now let the cat out of the bag and confirm that he is returning to General Hospital. Soap Opera News is reporting that Spencer Cassadine will be back in Port Charles on Monday. Bechtel says he appreciates the support of the fans and wished that he could have told his followers his good news earlier. Fans had been speculating on a Spencer return, once Nikolas was back in Port Charles, so there will not be total shock. The soaps film about two months in advance which means Bechtel has been back on the studio and keeping his secret since last year. Kudos to the teen for keeping his return under wraps and a big thank you to Frank Valenti for bringing him back to the CBS daytime drama.

Viewers who are eager to see Spencer back in action, should brace themselves because a big change related to the teen has taken place, The little motherless boy who stole the hearts of the viewing audience, is no more. Some may be shocked, but most of his devotees will be pleased to see the metamorphosis that is taking place with the teen who portrays the young Cassadine prince. Nicholas Bechtel is transforming from a child into a man right before our very eyes. Perhaps he was kept off screen for this very reason so that he could return and portray a darker version of Spencer.

A video promo from ABC reveals that the 14 year old actor is transitioning into a handsome young man. He is several inches taller, and his voice is much deeper. Bechtel looks well able to portray Spencer with the Cassadine dark edge and perhaps he has already begun. The video clip shows Ava at the boarding school seeking forgiveness from her stepson. Ms. Jerome treads carefully as if she is speaking with a young child, but Spencer responds to her in a non chelant, almost cryptic manner. He laments that he has lost everything, his home, his inheritance and his father. Ava replies that he has not lost all and at that moment Nikolas appears and puts his hand on his son's shoulder.

Many GH viewers believed that Spencer may have already known that his father did not die, but the expression on his face when he sees his dad does not make the situation clear. Spencer looks up at his father but viewers will notice the teen does not seem surprised at his dads presence. He almost looks as though he is angry. If General Hosputal is going to turn the lovable character into a full Cassadine then the people of Port Charles need to be on guard. Dpencer went to Sonny some time back and asked him to handle Valentin so the makings of a new generation may have already been in the works. The young prince was but a child then and now is developing into a man. His attributes that fans once thought to be cute, msy now be deadly.

Fans of Nicholas Bechtel were concerned that Spencer might be a victim of SORAS, Soap Opera Rapid Aging Synfrome. This is when a character goes from a child to a teen or young adult overnight and someone else takes over the part. General Hospital viewers have loved the way Nicholas Bechtel has portrayed Spencer and did not desire to see him replaced. Bechtel has worked on other projects including a show on the Fisney channel but for his adoring public, General Hospital is his home,

To the delight of his followers it appears that Nicholas Bechtel’s growth spurt and changing voice have given him exactly what his character needs at this time. He literally has grown into the role of Spencer Cassadine and it’s wonderful. The current situation calls for an older, wiser, more mature Spencer who can deal with what is taking place. His father is back, Ava is his stepmom, Obrecht is living at the Cassadine home and Valentin has all kinds of problems, but probably will not go away. Laura, Kevin, Lulu, and Donny will all have their hands full dealing with both Dpencef and his dad but it makes for great drama. Welcome back Nicholas and welcome home Spencer.
