Bergen Williams had other roles but was best known for portraying Alice Gunderson, the maid, housekeeper, and all-around handywoman for the Quartermaine family. While a cast member of the ABC daytime drama, General Hospital Bergen had the role of Alice from 2001-2014 and was in 155 episodes. Alice had a crush on "Mr. Luke" Lucas Lorenzo Spencer (Tony Geary) and she could hold her own with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). Alice gave as good as she got and sometimes she won. When Luke and Tracy married Alice continued her flirtation which annoyed the new Mrs. Spencer.

Alice at times was the glue to keep the dysfunctional family together. She was always fun during the annual Thanksgiving fiasco where the Q's had to eat pizza. She was able to be a live-in housekeeper thanks to Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) who owns the mansion because her husband Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) gave it to her. Monica once put out her husband, his parents, and Tracy but she never once kicked Alice out of her home.
