Emma Samms wants to return to General Hospital

Over one year ago on General Hospital Ethan Lovett (Nathan Parsons) and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) believed Holly Sutton (Emma Sams) had been murdered. They found a shallow grave with a charred body and a ring that belonged to Ethan's mom. They left Monte Carlo along with Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) and were devastated at their assumed loss. aThey also had many questions that were unanswered. Viewers got a glimpse of Holly who was locked in a room and crying for help and realized she was alive.

Fans have been waiting for this storyline to resume and were puzzled when it did not but now have answers. Sams recently did a PodCast interview with Soap Opera Digest where she said she wanted to set the record straight for the GH fans and did not desire her devotees to believe she had run out on them. The actress wants to return to the ABC soap but health challenges health will not allow her to do so.

Emma Samms is dealing with long COVID

Samms tested positive for COVID in March 2020 and now continues to suffer almost a year and a half later from long COVID. This is when the coronavirus symptoms linger for a long period of time. Those affected may feel tired most of the time or be experiencing excessive GI (Gastrointestinal) discomfort, including diarrhea and abdominal pain. Taste and smell may still not be back to normal and other symptoms are a racing heart and having difficulty with memory or concentration.

The actress says she is “not too bad,” but the effects of long COVID and the gaps between feeling really bad are decreasing. Samms said she wanted to make one issue very clear and said, “I just didn’t want people to think I’d recovered and for some reason was avoiding returning to General Hospital to spite them.”

General Hospital history between Robert and Holly

Holly met Robert Scorpio through their mutual connection with Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). Luke and Robert were best friends and Holly had previously been in a relationship with Luke. After Luke was presumed dead, because of an Avalanche a grief stricken Holly later found out that she was pregnant with his child and she was also about to be deported. Robert offered to marry Holly to keep her in the US in honor of Luke's memory. Spencer was later revealed to be recovering in a hospital and to have only broken his back in the Avalanche.

Over the years Robert and Holly reunited only to break up again and when her son Ethan appeared in Port Charles he was revealed to belong to Luke Spencer whom Holly had gotten back together with. So now Holly is being held captive and no one knows who has her or why. It was thought by General Hospital fans that Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaunessy) or Peter August (Wes Ramsey) was her captor but storylines involving both men are heading in other directions.

General Hospital projection: The writers may reunite Robert and Holly

it had looked as if Robert might fall in love with Olivia but she recently reunited with her husband Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth). The powers that be may be holding off on romance for the super spy until he can find and reconcile with Holly. Now that Samms has addressed the issue viewers will be hoping she quickly recovers and will be back on General Hospital as soon as possible. Ethan Lovett's followers will be expecting him to return at some point as well when the time comes to locate and rescue his mother.
