Emma Samms might return to General Hospital in the future

Emma and Holly have officially left the building

Soaps in Depth is reporting that Emma Samms has completed her latest stint on General Hospital as Holly Sutton and is headed back to England. This is a disappointment to viewers who were hoping she might stick around for a while. The soap vet expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to return to GH this past April after having wrapped up a storyline in 2022. For fans who are distressed Samms teased she might return to the ABC soap at a future date but only for brief stints. The actress also expressed her gratefulness to her many fans who have been supportive and also the General Hospital execs who worked with her in spite of limitations due to long covid.

Fans were wondering what was different about the actress and unfortunately, she had to really strive in her performance because long covid was taking a toll. Samms said last fall when she returned as Holly and washed up on the Quartermaine property that it was difficult. She can no longer walk long distances or stand for extended periods of time and she also had breathing issues. Being the professional that she is Sutton was able to do her part and her followers are grateful.

Robert and Holly were not to be

Some viewers were hoping Holly and Robert Scorpio (Tristen Rogers) were going to reunite after Holly told Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagoner) that she loved Robert and always will. She also had an honest conversation with Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesey)where Diane said she would never fight for a man. Some fans thought she might be around for a while longer to fight for her man but it was not to happen.

Unfortunately, Robert saw Holly at the Savoy in an intense conversation with Selina Wu and he became angry and wanted to know what type of deal was going forth between the women. DA Scorpio is wanting to get the goods on the mob boss but it won't be this time. Holly later explained to Robert that her son Ethan Lovett (James Ryan) was in trouble again and owed a lot of money so she had to save him. Holly had reently rescued her son from a grim fate with the help of TracyQuartermaine 9jane Elliot) a and now he is up to his old tricks again.

Robert and Diane may now have a chance

Robert told Holly that she and her son were like his dad Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) as they enjoyed the rush of danger. This puts her at odds with the DA and the two realized they were always going to be on opposite sides of the law. Holly expressed her love for Robert and walked off leaving him on the side of the peer and that was the end. Viewers who assumed there was more that would happen with Holly were sadly disappointed.

Robert is now free to pursue Diane but will she want him if she detects it is on the rebound? Will Robert tell her the truth about how he and Holly will always love each other or will the DA and the lawyer simply pick up where they left off? Some viewers are saying they enjoy the dynamic between the DA and the lawyer. When Samms returned last year Rogers said he was happy to be working with her again and other veteran cast members.
